    Thank you for taking the time to make this comparison video! It feels so nice to see women representing! I just bought the Hoyt Eclipse and I can’t wait to start hunting with it!
    I chose the Eclipse because it was one of your 2 top choices and Podium Archer’s top choice. It was very interesting because he ranked Eva Shockey bow last place since it was slower, had more vibration, weighed the heaviest, and had a bumpier draw cycle.
    He ranked the Prima second because it tended to fall on its side (balance) whenever he drew the bow and because it had less forgiveness.
    FYI: If you have blue strings, consider swapping them out and stealth stripping the logo because deer see blue more intensely than we can perceive it.

      Thank you! That means a lot! I love that everyone has differing opinions:). I hope you are loving the eclipse!
      So true, deer can see blue. I’m not a hunter so I haven’t stressed about it but such great advice!

    Thanks so much and for all your videos. It is hard for us in Australia to try out all these bows, especially with supply being limited by covid. My wife is quite new to archery but after your excellent review has decided to get the Eva Shockey. Good to know that you rate all 3 so highly.

    Hi! Really good review. I’m currently looking for a new bow for my daughter. I had not heard about the Eva Shockey Gen 2 until seeing your video and am now considering it. To be honest I’ve only owned Matthews so I’m totally biased. My daughter has been shooting for several years and is now going into middle school next year. So she’s only 11 but she’s outgrowing her Diamond Prism and is no longer a beginner. She needs something “next level”. I just don’t want to put her into something that’s too much for her to handle either… so I’ve been trying to find the right bow for her. She did test a Carbon Rose about a month back and seemed to handle it fairly well.

    I know this is an older video, but I am brand new to archery and I am left handed so trying bows is difficult. I was in a toss up between the Hoyt and Mathews and just holding the Mathews to me it felt top heavy, so to hear you say that made me feel better. In the end I decided to go with the Hoyt! Thank you for making this.

    Thanks for posting this video. I am looking for a new bow and trying to learn about bows and what will work the best for me. I never got to choose my first bow and had no say. Been shooting the same bow for 12 years. A big problem I am finding is the stores in my area are out of stock. They have nothing but 60, 70lb bows for men.

      Hi! It’s so hard and frustrating that no one will stock bows in lower draw weights. That is something I’m working hard to change. The pandemic has also hit manufacturers pretty hard making it very hard to get your hands on anything. I’m so excited you are getting to upgrade! If you have any questions at all, I’m happy to help:). Thank you for you kind response!

      I did get to shoot an eva shocky gen one. How does the gen one compare to the gen two?

    • @eppicharcheryunleashed6182
      @eppicharcheryunleashed6182  3 роки тому

      The Gen one and Gen two are completely different. I personally didn’t like the Gen one. It was too light and wouldn’t settle well on the target for me. I also really disliked the grip- it felt like holding a 2x4 (they redesigned the Gen 2 to be slimmer. It’s not the most comfortable grip out there but I honestly shot more consistently with it) the Gen two is also significantly heavier (aluminum vs the carbon Gen 1) and the weight created a perfect balance. I feel like the gen2 and the prima have a similar feel. The prima is definitely a little more top heavy and weighted differently but I would say the Gen 2 is far more comparable to the prima than the gen1

  • @archercat2515
    @archercat2515 4 роки тому +2

    Hey FYI the speed of the Prima will make up the slight difference in forgiveness with the 5.5” brace height as compared to the other bows. Where is comes into play more is with longer draw lengths because the power stroke will be effected more.

    • @eppicharcheryunleashed6182
      @eppicharcheryunleashed6182  4 роки тому +1

      That’s a great point:). I still feel like you get more forgiveness with a longer brace height when shooting nearly the same speeds at the same draw lengths. I definitely think that the effect is greater at greater draw lengths, that’s why I said the difference is very slight but still worth mentioning 😊. I really appreciate the feedback.

    May I ask a stupid question? Should I be looking for a shorter riser/limb height for my lady?

    • @arnorlarsen
      @arnorlarsen 2 роки тому

      Short might be faster.
      Longer is slower, more forgiving. and better string angle.
      go for 32-34" ATA riser imo

    • @eppicharcheryunleashed6182
      @eppicharcheryunleashed6182  2 роки тому

      I’m sorry I just saw this. Never a stupid question! It really depends. Personal frame size is an important consideration as well as what type of archery she is wanting to shoot. A longer Axel to Axel will give more stability but might be heavier, changes string angle, or be more difficult if you are going to be hiking around with it

    I too am left handed and bought both the Bowtech Gen 2 and the Prima. The biggest difference is the draw. I have the BT Gen 2 in comfort mode and intend to flip it to the performance mod. to compare but the Prima is a steady hard pull throughout with barely a drop into a very short valley. The BT gen 2 starts out easy and there is a hump at the back of the pull and it dumps into a big valley with very high let-off. Neither one is spongy at the wall but the BT you can hold forever and the Prima wants to easily go. The Prima has 12-13 fps advantage using same arrow, same draw weight. The Bowtech is easier to shoot but with less force velocity than the Mathews. Bottom line? In comfort mode on the Bowtech I would feel confident shooting out to 25 yds on a animal and further on the Prima. Perhaps in the performance mode the BT will give me more confidence in making a pass thru shot.

    • @eppicharcheryunleashed6182
      @eppicharcheryunleashed6182  2 роки тому

      The speeds are fairly comparable honestly. The eclipse actually gets better speeds than the Gen 2 on the comfort setting. I didn’t have access to the chrono when I made this video. I do now. I’ll try to update

      Eppich Archery Unleashed I ordered the Bowtech! I really thought I was going to go with the Hoyt Eclipse, I shot the Mathews Prima (didn’t love it over the other two for the 5 1/2” brace height.) Then I shot the Eclipse and Shockey over and over trying to decide, haha! It was a close decision. Waiting (the hardest part!) for the smoke grey, but it’ll be worth it! Now I’m off to research thumb releases, because I think I’d like to switch.

    My wife has a Carbon Icon in smoke grey. She wanted an EVs Shockley, because of the purple cams, but at the time her draw was too big. Her draw is 29.5”. Turned out they sent her one of the first gen 2 carbon icons. We had ordered months before it was delivered.

    Thanks for the video! I have been looking into the Hoyt Eclipse and was able to shoot one recently. It’s hard being left handed as no shops tend to carry the high performance women’s bows for lefties so I haven’t been able to try a Prima yet - I saw that you mentioned being able to purchase a roller guard for the Eclipse. Which roller guard do you recommend?

    I'm a 200 pound athletic man and I would shoot a prima. Light bows are cool. Aimdor looks like Mathews that is my only hesitation....outsourcing to budget parts manufacturing companies. Also some blow ups on the new setups with too many parts and bowstrings, but nobody is knocking the accuracy of these Mathews bows they are legit hunting bows with a LOT of fans.

      @eppicharcheryunleashed6182  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Jennifer, I probably wouldn’t suggest a brand new archer starting with these as they are built to very specific specifications and minimal adjustability. I world suggest starting with a bow that has a wide range of adjustability. I usually recommend beginners try shooting a bear cruzer g2 (we have a review and it was my first bow), a Diamond infinite edge, or an Elite ember. The ember is more of a mid grade bow and is a great option. Mission by Mathews also have a few options you could try as well. If you have any other questions. I’m always happy to help any way I can. I will be dropping a review off the ember in the next week or so:)
