Bowtech Eva Gen 3 Review
Переглядів 61611 місяців тому
Lets talk about the brand new women’s bow from Bowtech for 2024, the Eva Gen 3. We will cover all of the specs and the big ticket things we loved and didn’t love. We will also compare this flagship bow to the previous model, the Gen 2. If you’ve been looking for the female perspective you are in the right place.

Simple Strategies to build and maintain shoulder strength
Happy to find a womans review of this bow. Thanks!
I’m looking to get my daughter a bow for her 5th birthday do you suggest we still start with the first bow or jump to the second one?
that is the exact same kinda bow upgrade i gave to my son (btw talking about the second one)
Love all the kid interaction going on
Though your comments were subjective, I appreciate your words about tune-ability, forgiveness, grip feel and the draw feel... I have one of the earliest Mathews women's bows and have had great luck... but now I'm going to make a trip to look at the Bowtech while I have been looking at the Prima. Short guy.
Thank you for your kind comments! I would love to hear what you pick
How can you do a good review if you don't have all 3 bows
I went and shot all three and spent a lot of time behind each. I see men reviewing these bows even though the don’t have correct draw lengths. Most of the people who review bows don’t own them. I owned 2 of the three. You are perfectly able to take my review or leave it.
Touch his elbow 😅
Haha, I was zooming in a little close there huh😬😆
I wish i was this bored and at peace bro!! Damn... im over here with no car, no food, im sick and i just want to say im happy there is people having a good time. Its giving me hope to get to a better place someday. Enjoy and appreciate every good day!! 👍
Im so sorry to hear of your struggles. It makes my heart ache and is a much needed reminder to be grateful. Our intention is never to flaunt what we have. We sincerely appreciate you comment and your incredible attitude.
@eppicharcheryunleashed6182 I wish the world the best. Praying for myself. But I'm not sour. Your not flaunting. Your enjoying life. I need to see that. What's the point of hope if people are not doing good and feeling happy. Kick some butt
Thank you kind friend! Sending prayers your way!
Time for a real man do not put scopes on there bow
Their bow
Um, I thought the goal was to be as accurate as possible and to be ethical. We don’t judge the set ups of others because the beauty of archery is that there is a space for everyone and it accommodates a multitude of approaches. I would suggest that real men lift and support those around them rather than tearing them down. I hope you have a great day.
Mondana White
It’s so funny that everyone thinks he looks so much like Dana. 😆
Dana White is an archer now?
Bahaha! Apparently 😆
My wife is looking at getting this bow, got a question for you as far as the draw weight, I know the limbs say 30-40 lbs etc etc, is the max draw weight absolutely max of 40 and can it go any lower than the 30? My wife currently shoots roughly 25 lbs on my old Bear Cruzer G2 and I know the weight can drastically change based on draw length, so I was wondering how it is with this bow. As a fellow Utahn would live to hear more of your thoughts and opinions on the bow.
Hi! These are great questions! Mine maxed at just over 41 lbs at a 25.5 draw length. With these higher end bows they are usually fairly true to spec with draw weights + or - a couple pounds. In a 40lb limb you can probably get down around 28ish pounds which probably wouldn’t take long for your wife to get to. I strongly suggest to not over bow (get in to something to heavy too fast) but it sounds like she is very close. You could increase the cruzer half a turn for a few weeks and she would be there. Draw weight won’t vary with draw length in this bow like it does in the cruzer
@@eppicharcheryunleashed6182 Thanks for the reply I appreciate it, when you made the switch from your Cruzer to this bow did it feel easier to pull back vs the Cruzer? My daugher has the Elite Ember and that bow at the same draw weight as my bow (45 lbs on a PSE Embark, yes I am a pansy on draw weight lol) it is a dream to pull back, so I wanted to know if this was the same or easier from your perspective
There are so many benefits to this bow over the Cruzer, but there is always an adjustment period when you’re going from something you are comfortable with to something new. I do feel like the draw is smoother and the back wall is night and day but because the cams are aggressive it can pull you off the back wall if you let up at all. You are not a pansy! My kids shoot the ember and we love it for them. It has a deeper valley on the draw whereas the eclipse is a consistent pull from start to finish.
@@eppicharcheryunleashed6182 that is good to know about the constant pulling with the eclipse, I could potentially see that as something that my wife may not like on it. I just checked her draw weight and length and she is at 27 lbs and 25 inch length so the 40 lbs limbs are probably a great starting point. Thanks for all of the information you have been a great help with the never ending search for the perfect setup!
I tried shooting last night after 2 months of dealing with a torn labrum and damn it doesn’t feel good I’m jealous but love watching people enjoy the same sport I love
Oh friend, I’m so so sorry. Injuries that take us out of the things we love can be so devastating. Sending prayers of healing
Bud really has to use sights at 15 feet
With compound archery, we use it right at 10 ft and 100 yrds. It’s never bad to be as accurate as possible
Are you able to shoot without sights?
I shoot tradition bows without sights, but with a compound bow it’s not necessarily smart to shoot something so powerful without having a very confident way of knowing where the arrow is going
@@eppicharcheryunleashed6182 do you hunt?
I personally don’t hunt right now but I practice as though I would if I were hunting
No fear!!
Never;)
Not sure if there is some around where I live. Would be fun. There was one place a couple years ago but now not sure.
Well how’d you do??
I hit the target so I’m calling it a win:)
@@eppicharcheryunleashed6182 heck yeah!! Same here. Just participating in archery is a win in my book.
Holy. Such concentration. It’s supposed to be fun. 😂 JK
Oh, I promise I’m having fun!
@@eppicharcheryunleashed6182 I know. I was just kidding. Have a fantastic day.
Haha, thanks! You too!
I’m sure it’s hard to give an honest review, especially when you have so much hopes for it but that’s awesome that you shared with everyone what you really felt about it. Respect!
Thanks friends! I’m nothing if not honest haha
I have a carbon one if u wont a longer villy I set my draw length at 26.5 and draw stops at 27
That’s awesome. I actually don’t love a long valley. The consistent draw may be one of the few things I like about this bow. I’ve heard great things about the carbon one
Great video. I’m looking for cases for my son’s first bows and have no experience. This is just the information I needed.
Great review. Better than some of the men’s reviews.
I am An old man and am about to purchase one. Have have not worked in over half a decade, and have done nothing but sit. I need to get outside and shoot more. I have lost a lot of muscle strength. So even though this bow is geared towards woman and young shooters, let not forgot some of us older folks who cannot even draw a 50 lb bow anymore. This one seems Perfect for me. I just plan to shoot target and maybe some 3D. That’s it. So rii hi is little bow that is extremely adjustable and very well built seems The bow for Me. Woman’s Now or not. I love the cobalt blue for a target riser color. I wished the brace height was closer to 7” but I will take what I can get. Finds being limited and I cannot afford a EVA Gen3, so this seems the next best thing. I have owned Elite in the past and loved it.
I like all your mentions on how really nice this bow is . I just put one on order , bare bow . I hope proper cam timing and cam lean are not going to be issues for me .
We really love this bow! I bought one for my clients/students to be able to try and my son stole it because he loved it. We just bought one for my daughter too! We haven’t had any issues but the techs at a local shop say they occasionally run into timing adjustments
What ended up being the best scent? I’m a tea tree fan in general and leaning that way with first order.
Excellent review . Very well done ! I am an aging bow hunter (40-45# max .) and looking for a forgiving easy tunable bow . I will look into the Bowtech .
Hi! Really good review. I’m currently looking for a new bow for my daughter. I had not heard about the Eva Shockey Gen 2 until seeing your video and am now considering it. To be honest I’ve only owned Matthews so I’m totally biased. My daughter has been shooting for several years and is now going into middle school next year. So she’s only 11 but she’s outgrowing her Diamond Prism and is no longer a beginner. She needs something “next level”. I just don’t want to put her into something that’s too much for her to handle either… so I’ve been trying to find the right bow for her. She did test a Carbon Rose about a month back and seemed to handle it fairly well.
Great video Love & Archery 🏹 ❤️. The difference between a Long Bow and a recurve is the string hits the belly of a recurve and Longbow does not . That would be a longbow . But thank you for a great video
That’s for the information, I will get the Plano for sure. I just recently bought a brand new bow for 2k and I was walking out of the dealer and I said oh yeah, I forgot I need a case and the only one he had was $240 and I said no thank you
Buying one through your amazon page, thank you for the info.
I got a bear bow on clearance/sale from academy, before I bought a $40 bow that couldn't shoot strait and really happy with it.
any advice on youth bows for LH kids?
I too am left handed and bought both the Bowtech Gen 2 and the Prima. The biggest difference is the draw. I have the BT Gen 2 in comfort mode and intend to flip it to the performance mod. to compare but the Prima is a steady hard pull throughout with barely a drop into a very short valley. The BT gen 2 starts out easy and there is a hump at the back of the pull and it dumps into a big valley with very high let-off. Neither one is spongy at the wall but the BT you can hold forever and the Prima wants to easily go. The Prima has 12-13 fps advantage using same arrow, same draw weight. The Bowtech is easier to shoot but with less force velocity than the Mathews. Bottom line? In comfort mode on the Bowtech I would feel confident shooting out to 25 yds on a animal and further on the Prima. Perhaps in the performance mode the BT will give me more confidence in making a pass thru shot.
Thank you for taking the time to make this comparison video! It feels so nice to see women representing! I just bought the Hoyt Eclipse and I can’t wait to start hunting with it! I chose the Eclipse because it was one of your 2 top choices and Podium Archer’s top choice. It was very interesting because he ranked Eva Shockey bow last place since it was slower, had more vibration, weighed the heaviest, and had a bumpier draw cycle. He ranked the Prima second because it tended to fall on its side (balance) whenever he drew the bow and because it had less forgiveness. FYI: If you have blue strings, consider swapping them out and stealth stripping the logo because deer see blue more intensely than we can perceive it.
Thank you! That means a lot! I love that everyone has differing opinions:). I hope you are loving the eclipse! So true, deer can see blue. I’m not a hunter so I haven’t stressed about it but such great advice!
How can I order you hat 😁
Hi! Drop me a dm over on IG!:)
Prima is the fastest but speed isn't everything i personally like a more forgiving bow myself also
I agree. It’s so personal
I'm currently using the same g2 cruiser. I picked it up last year and I love it, but I'm ready to upgrade. I picked this one because I wasn't sure if I would love archery when I started and did not want to invest a great deal of money at that time. I'm at I draw length 25.5 and draw weight 40.4. I still see myself as a bit of a noobie. Is it true that to get further distances the draw weight needs to go up too?
That is awesome! I am also a 25.5. To some degree increasing draw weight will give you more distance, although the ease your vote is set up plays the biggest role. I get out to about 85 yards with my current set up at 45lbs
Well it's not recommended anyway to carry archery hardcase into an airport...unless you don't mind getting accused of carrying firearm & harassed or worst imprisoned!!! If you did, seriously, video everything (conversation with customs) it can save you.
Oh boy! It sounds like you had a bad experience. We don’t fly with our equipment very often but some times we don’t have another option
What’s the best way to measure your compound bow length and with to make the right choice to fit your compound bow comfortably 😊
Oh boy, that’s a good question. Buying cases online can be tricky. I world suggest measuring the longest (cam to cam) and widest measurement and then checking the specs of case
@@eppicharcheryunleashed6182 thanks I was able to get a compound bow case that fits my bow 😊
🤘 𝕡𝕣𝕠𝕞𝕠𝕤𝕞
🙌🙌
I'm a 200 pound athletic man and I would shoot a prima. Light bows are cool. Aimdor looks like Mathews that is my only hesitation....outsourcing to budget parts manufacturing companies. Also some blow ups on the new setups with too many parts and bowstrings, but nobody is knocking the accuracy of these Mathews bows they are legit hunting bows with a LOT of fans.
I totally agree! They definitely aren’t just for women!
I have got the Elite Ember and I am not impressed with their valley at all. It does not appear to be adustable. From what i am noticing is, the bow is a bit too nervous and twitchy. It tends to bite. It comes out of the valley unexpectedly, and that makes for a nervous draw cycle. All the other bows i have shot have fully adjustable valleys and that give the archer confidence in their equipment. This elite ember, it feels very unstable. Something is very wrong with the draw cycle.
That’s very interesting. That wasn’t my experience at all but it is an entry level bow and it will definitely feel very different and varying draw lengths. It has a longer, deeper valley than I personally prefer, but some people really like it
@@eppicharcheryunleashed6182 , if you want to shorten your valley, advance your cams. Put it in a bow press and equally undoo a few turns on both controll cables. Keep an eye on the timing marks. For me, im looking for a decent comfortable letoff, and this bow will not do it at 50lb and higher. To adjust the valley, it is a pain, you need a bow press and you are absolutely right, the bow feels different at various poundages. I'm still very much grumbling at this bow, thinking ... i should have bought better. Yes, it has high quality components on it but to me it does not feel as good as a bowtech.
This is all great advice. I mostly only recommend it to shooters with low draw weights, once you are up to 50 lbs, the options for great bows get dramatically better!
I bought the PSE EVO NXT 33 a couple of years ago it was my first high end bow, the main reason was there so easy to shoot and change everything, draw length without a vice you can drop the draw weight by 20lbs plus. When your ready to try something a bit newer easy to sell because it will nearly fit anyone's frame size or draw weight..
So awesome! Definitely going to look in to it
what about speeds? speed makes a huge difference in choice especially with short draw lengths and low poundage.
The speeds are fairly comparable honestly. The eclipse actually gets better speeds than the Gen 2 on the comfort setting. I didn’t have access to the chrono when I made this video. I do now. I’ll try to update
I just ran across your UA-cam channel. Awesome!!!! Love seeing/supporting other local UA-cam channels. Keep up the good work and we will see you on the mountain 🏹
Yay! Thank you! I’ll hop over to yours too!
@@eppicharcheryunleashed6182 thank you! We appreciate it 💙❤️
Thanks for the video! I have been looking into the Hoyt Eclipse and was able to shoot one recently. It’s hard being left handed as no shops tend to carry the high performance women’s bows for lefties so I haven’t been able to try a Prima yet - I saw that you mentioned being able to purchase a roller guard for the Eclipse. Which roller guard do you recommend?
Hi chandler! Being a lefty and a woman in this industry definitely adds to the challenge! You are a rock star! The shop we shoot for has a an after market roller that they said would work. I’ll check the brand today. Honestly though, I’ve been shooting the ecliptic worth the slider for over a year and don’t miss a roller:)
@@eppicharcheryunleashed6182 Thank you so much! I did end up going with the Eclipse and had one ordered. I actually got to pick it up today and am already in love! Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge with us!
Yay! I’m so excited for you!
I went from a bear royale to the hoyt eclipse today.. And im in love with my hoyt.. It is so forgiving
I’m so glad you love it! Even After over a year, I’m still loving mine
I own 2 SKB i series bow cases. However the pelican air is really nice as well. Just don’t know where the pelican is made. The SKB is made in the USA. I hunt all over and need a good case for the airlines and the truck. However if you’re a person that only uses their bow locally than a soft case should suffice
Totally agree! The SKB is Awesome!
I felt the same about the whisker biscuit and sight. The confidence in simplicity and sturdiness was hard to give up when I switched to drop away and a complex sight.
Yes! There are always pros and cons with changing your set up even if it’s technically an upgrade
This was really helpful, thank you. You answered all of the questions I had and then some!
Oh thank you! I’m so glad it was helpful! We are always happy to answer questions if anything else comes up:)
