  • Graham ‘Abo’ Henry has seen parts of Sydney many of us only read about.
The notorious underworld enforcer was at the forefront of the city’s underbelly during the 70s and 80s and was one of the most feared men in Sydney, Australia.
Alongside his partner, Neddy Smith, the pair ruled the streets of Sydney with brutal force.
Henry reflects on his life with Mark Bouris and how he lives a very different life today.

Mark, it’s good to see such a high level business man with success be so down to earth and talk to anyone of different circumstances as if they are mate of yours….. down to earth keeping it true and inline which makes a person. Just like Graham, dark history, success, tough and no big noting and glory just being humble fair and respectful. Be it crime money or legal business both these blokes have done it and are still around to tell stories because of the way they carry themselves.

I think deep down he’s a good soul who was dealt a bad hand.

    • @KretinoSantino
      @KretinoSantino Рік тому

      NO.
It's almost always a bad soul combined with harsh upbringing.
It takes many years for this kind of person to learn to "live with yourself".
Took me almost 30 years. Maybe I was just lucky not to be around "life changing" amount of money in others pockets at that time.
And made decent amount of money as "one man job" marketer and webmaster.
But when confronted, I still turned into nutjob, ready for battle with telescopic baton in one hand, and boxer in other. Luckily for me, every vocal loud toughguy just backed off.
And luckily for me, I knew not to confront people much more vicious than me.
But I've got broken nose, and some more beatings.
It's a learning curve ... where if you're smart enough, you wanna distance yourself from people like you. And live a nice life with nice people. And be nice, because it doesn't cost anything to help old lady carry a bag. Or lending someone in trouble money, without chasing them down the street for wig every day.
You can't even imagine how much some people born bad can feel proud of themself when they do a good deed.

Keep up the good work Mark. Just let the guest speak a bit more, you have a tendency to interrupt at key moments. Your the platform for the guest and a great active listener, that is your strength.
"Where do you see your self now" was a great question but you interrupted straight after asking it. Perfect example of just letting the guest speak.

My life is a lot like Abo Henrys i was a Crim my whole life , Abuse in boys homes church homes , Done 34 years in and out of homes and jails , Got pinched for one murder one attempted murder and rightfully beat them, Done a lot of bank and jewelry robberies, I also found out when i was 55 that i had Aboriginal blood in me part of the stolen generation . It was actually hidden from us because of the welfare system in them days they always took Aboriginal kids from their families . My life was a nightmare. Set up a few times by police , verballed and loaded up . Done about 12 years where i didn't commit the crime . I changed my name because i actually give that life away . I knew Abo in and out of prison , There is not really many crims i don't know . Seriously it is a putrid life and one i would not wish on anyone. That does not mean i didn't have a lot of fun along the way and lived the high life , Its good having thousands of dollars in your pocket every day . The cost is when you get caught its not worth it . The price is to much. I'm 65 now work my guts out every day and bring home my wages every week , It is a much better life . As for Abo He was a better person then Neddy Smith , Ned was a putrid dog killed many of his friends for money , But Abo can say he never give anyone up but i don't think that was entirely true . I wish him the best but he was not as staunch as he makes out

He was a solicitor, and certainly did a bit of soliciting after hours around Epping. Boronia Park was similarly 'infamous' for those that assembled there after hours.
