You waking out your wee little winky candle holder was impressive! Didn’t think I’d like these as much as I do!
Gary happy to see you and your best friend ralph very nice
Great to see Ralph helping out
They look lovely, Gary
Great idea
Nice n Quick CHRISTmas gift 🎁
Very nice. Especially easy manufacture of the bobeche.
Well done on the draw die, most blacksmiths don’t understand the way sheet stock is formed and conforms to the punch without the need for a bottom die of the same shape. This method uses less tonnage and leaves the metal free from damage provided the binder is polished, you might consider buttons that hold the binder at the material thickness plus a thou. This way you don’t have to worry about tensioning the the bolts exactly the same each time. This is how it’s done in stamping tools. Great video, great project, glad to see your at the anvil!
Very nice work !!! Glad to see you doing videos again ... Hope your enjoying your retirement!!!!
I wish I was retired! I’m working harder now than when I was shoeing!
Always great to see you out and about!!!!
Thanks 👍
Great work. Thank you for the upload.
Glad you enjoyed it
Nice design!
Great looking candle holder!
Thank you! 😊
Brilliant idea, love it
Very nicely done! I remember the first video.
Thanks Kevin, hope you’re well.
What a great idea
Glad you think so!
Great vid. enjoyable to watch. thks
Nice Saw!
Sure is!
Awesome video thank you
You mentioned a new camera;
Maybe John at Black Bear Forge could give some input. Just a thought. Thank you for all the mentoring you do with the efforts of these videos.
8:09 "this camera I think is getting old because it really struggling to focus these days"... reminds me of... me 😀
welding spoils all the beauty of the work
How do you suggest it be made so it’s still affordable as a small gift?
@@garyhuston with rivets
@@ivandeluca2565 explain to me how you would attach the handle with rivets, and do it quickly enough to keep the price down. You obviously don’t do this for a living!
@@garyhuston raise the price😊
@@ivandeluca2565 your an idiot! I’m trying to make small affordable items that anyone can buy not a showpiece!
Super nice Gary. Good to see your shoulder is doing better. I wasn't aware there were round horse shoes until now!
I wasn’t aware of them either. I thought a bar shoe was made by welding the back part on. If there round you can forge it into place. Gary’s is great to watch.
Brilliant, I love it xx
Thank you, haven’t heard from you in a while! 😊
@@garyhuston Sorry! We moved and hubby retired from shoeing. He doesn't miss it at all, but I do! Hate not being around horses. I believe there is a saying about bed making and lying on it. 😮💨 I bet you miss the horses and the customers, will you ever go back to it? xx
@@larrybrown6068 I’m afraid I’m like your husband, I don’t miss it in the slightest! The pressure has been lifted, I don’t miss the people at all. The only thing I sometimes miss is the smell! Life is good now and I love going to work, if I look out and it’s raining I don’t get that feeling in the pit of my stomach of shoeing in a muddy field.
@@garyhuston Oh Gary, I'm so pleased for you. I get the bit about the rain, working in a riding school for over 30 years, in all weathers, makes me not want to set foot outside if it's wet or cold. If you ever holiday in Cornwall I insist you call in for a cuppa, you would be most welcome. Take care xxxx
I remember the original video because I made a couple after watching it. Didn't you use a different method the first time and I thought I remembered copper instead of steel as far as the dish and cup goes.
Nice to see you, Gary. Shoulder doing better now?
It's getting there!
I never saw horse shoes that where completely round circle. I could make alot of interesting things with those. If those where available in the USA.
They are available worldwide
Gary,
A nice project. Is Bakers solution some sort of etching solution?
Best regards
Frank
It's just a soldering flux but it's liquid.
Long time no see
Gday Gary could you give us a better look at the flange tool in the fly press please. Awesome candle holder, given me an idea for markets here in Australia 🙂
if you mean the one for forming the bobeche type of top, there isn't really much to it. It's just a mild steel bar with a radius turned into it ending at the diameter of the tube you are using. I have several for different sized tube. Not worth doing a video but if you look on my instagram feed I think you may get a better view as i did a reel on it a while ago.
Thanks Gary I’ll go take a look🙂I have a fly press but no tooling and I’m liking the look of these candle holders and they will fit with the other things I make🙂
Just a thought how about using horseshoe nails as rivets instead of welding dish to round shoe a little more rustic, no offence intended. Trev from OZ
Thanks Gary. Nice project. How do you rate your experience selling on etsy? I've been considering doing the same
It’s ok, they have some stupid ideas but at the moment it’s still worth doing for an extra bit of cash. They are introducing some more stupid regulations next year where everything has to be CA marked and materials must be traceable, safety information on everything! I will ignore it all until they stop me.
@@garyhuston good to know...thanks again
@@garyhuston The CA mark and traceable materials rule will run a lot of people off, lots of ‘scavenged/salvaged’ materials in use in metalwork/woodwork make it simply impossible to comply.
@@Vikingwerk exactly, and handmade items by their very nature can’t be all the same! I’m hoping there will be some sort of clause that will exclude items like mine and others.
@@Vikingwerk what is a CA mark? I'm in Canada

Без сварки , на заклёпках гораздо эфектнее выглядит ! Как для ученика , вполне сойдёт , но для мастера не очень !!
