Seriously trying to bash this guy, dan greene, for his range of motion? Wtf. 815 on deads. And his squat (well below parallel) really? Why hate? Dude has extremely awsome technique. And at 220, Lord. That's some of the best lifting I've ever seen.....makes me thing of ed coan kinda
Fatties are always superheavyweight. Unfortunately they get heaps of attention coz they move the biggest weights. Im much more impressed by a guy lifting over 3 times his bodyweight than an embarrassing fat slob who looks like hes having a heart attack. It almost seems like cheating too in the bench press when a big fatty wins coz he doesnt have to move the bar as far with those big man boobs covering his muscle. Remember there are 11 weight divisions and only one of them is SHW
Why in this day and age are corporations allowed to take any advantage it can to get better but when an athlete does it he's "cheating"? Dan has great leverages to squat and pull sumo, he also wears knee wraps and a belt, guess what, so can his competitors should they wish. You'll never hear him compare himself to an IPF lifter or say he's better so why is everyone acting like he does? Appreciate the god damn strength.
Jacob Velazquez maybe they are experienced and just don't agree with them. Sumo is easier and if you want me to prove this I will but if you already know that's fine. As for arch it's obvious they should use some arch but I just don't like when people like that little Russian girl bend until they're lying on top of their head and move the bar like 2 inches.
Kotally Savage I said if it's legal, since Id imagine people who know about dangreen know that sumo is legal, but saying it's easier is extremely general, there are many people who pull well above their sumo with conventional, as well as the top deadlifters in the world lifting conventional only one person has pulled 1000+ sumo
ApeStrengthPowerlifting the reason conventional will always be the world record is because people big enough to weigh enough to deadlift over 1000lbs+ don't have the mobility and their belly is in the way. At lighter weights sumo will always be easier, you think light weight class powerlifters lift more weight sumo and the biggest weight classes where people are really fat lift more conventional is just a coincidence? Imagine Eddie hall try sumo deadlift, it's just not going to happen. So sumo is easier when you aren't fat and conventional is easier when fat.
Sumo is only easier depending on Biomechanics. It is not an easier lift in the sense most people think it is (ie. less ROM). There is no room for error on sumo. If you do not have your form locked in precisely, you will not make the lift. Not to mention, sumo is safer and truly the correct way for humans to lift a heavy weight off of the ground, based off of anatomy and biomechanics.
misterairsoft101 sumo is easier, did you not read what I said? I showed evidence for it being easier. Leverages decide whether sumo or conventional are easier yes but for the vast majority of people sumo will be easier and sumo is easier when you don't weigh much. If you don't believe me regardless of your leverages get fat on a major bulk, you'll find sumo more difficult and your conventional will go up a lot more. Name lifters who had a fat stomach who deadlifted sumo with lots of weight? Majority conventional. Name powerlifters who pull sumo who aren't fat? Basically all of them. You think this is just a coincidence?
A belt, some kind of wrist protection and some kind of knee protection (either sleeves or wraps depending) are allow for raw in every federation. Bench shirts, briefs and squat suits are never raw.
That's not what we were discussing. His point was that the old squat suits like the one Ed is wearing in that video added so little that lifts performed in them should be considered "raw." That's not correct. You are correct that Ed benched and deadlifted raw in a yellow singlet. But from a competitive standpoint, if you use equipment for one of the three lifts (squat, bench or deadlift) your whole total is considered equipped.
good god these comments are giving me an aneurism. "he's not doing deadlifts right" "no way that bench was that much because those were all 25s and a 10" "he gains momentum in deadlift" "he did a touch & go on bench" SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP
Bilbo Faggins It's a sumo deadlift. Made for people with different leverages because guess what... not everyone's anatomy is the same. I can pull better conventional than I can sumo. Some people it's the other way around. You're also using different muscles for the sumo pull as opposed to the conventional.
I am pretty sure there are different divisions. ie suit, raw/t shirt. Even then it depends on who is sponsoring the event. Some allow only a safety belt and nothing more. Some allow you to wear a bench suit. Same goes with the knee wraps and straps. I think the belt is the only thing that is legal no matter what. I could be wrong though.
Alex Bonesteel he's actually inflating his stomach to create tension between his core and the belt so he doesn't snap his back up. all powerlifters do it.
John Kraven Well...Moron....Usually when they're "cut up" like he is, there's more of the "bodybuilding" work involved. And when that occurs , the power tends to wain a bit. Case and point, we all remember Tom Platz and his freakish legs , but he was in a squat competition with a powerlifter by the name of Fred Hatfield. While Hatfield destroyed Platz in the 1RM department, Platz destroyed Hatfield in the number of reps of over 500 lbs. Bodybuilders are about reps where as powerlifters are about weight. DUH!!!...Of COURSE steroids are used,...BUT Green isn't the barrel built behemoth that most powerlifters are. And THAT was the point......
Hey this guy is doing my morning workout pretty well! Would like if he would join my hard workout! (I always want to make one of this stupid troll/hater comments) Damn good job of this guy!
Did he just deadlift 815 with a hamstring tear? Look closely at 2:45 when he walks away, it looks like there is some significant bruising on the back of his left leg!
***** not to be rude sir but you miss read his comment. He wasn't talking about total weight added up he was using a slang word popular to Californians. We put the word totally into our sentences like the word dude..
As impressive as it is, I thought he'd be trying to lift 2,160 lbs in a single attempt, not as an aggregated "total" of all combined attempts or anything like that. How is this really measured?
"Total" is in the title of the video. That would be a good reason NOT to suspect it would be a single lift. It refers to the best of three lifts each in the squat, bench, and deadlift. Nobody has ever lifted over a ton in a single lift. Think about it.
+Jim McDonald I think you've missed the point of what I meant, and the keyword here is "aggregated". Lifting, say a total of 100 lbs in a *single* attempt, is not the same as lifting an *aggregated* total of 100 lbs spread across multiple lifts (e.g. 1st lift = 50 lbs, 2nd lift = 50 lbs).
That's not what it is. It's best squat + best bench + best deadlift. That's a total in powerlifting. The actual weight lifted is actually much more because only the best is counted.
+Jim McDonald Ok, I see how it is now. Thanks. At first I thought it'd be a single attempt. When you've seen people lift 1,000+ lbs in a single attempt (strongman competition, IIRC), I thought someone had found a way to lift much more. In any case, I wasn't aware that it's a "best of" series of lifts that are then combined for a single total.
obviously not that clear since 1I asked a question about it and 2 raw "usually" means only sleeves but thanks for taking the time to have a shitty attitude :D
No intent to be shitty but the circumstances of the video already answered the question, plus it's been answered on here a bunch of times. Ask better questions, get better answers.
sumo deadlift is very impressive. sumo is a lot harder to get off the ground but much easier to lock out. both conventional and sumo use slightly different muscle groups but are equally impressive
Actuslly yes it is. Look it up. RAW refers to not using any "gear" such as squat suits, bench shirts, briefs, etc. There are different degrees/subsections of RAW. But wraps and a belt still do fall under the raw category. There's raw with wraps, raw without, etc.
Raw is raw. Raw is no using anything that give the lifter an advantage. Wraps deff are not for protection as much as they are a spring out if the hole.
Jake H. Well reading comments like this fucktard's is very hard to do. If his federation declares it as raw, then it's fucking raw. Anyone's opinion on the matter doesn't mean shit. Also, belt, knee sleeves and shoes do not give you an advantage that means anything. It just improves what you can already do. Belt keeps your core tight and protects your back (which is very important if you want to live a healthy life), using knee sleeves results in less pain and swelling during and after lifting (nearly every athlete in every sport uses these) and finally, olympic lifting shoes don't give you an advantage, it only caters to help those with bad ankle dorseflexion when squatting.. top, top level powerlifters don't really use olympic lifting shoes.
Belts just helps you contract your abs harder, it's still your muscles that work. Wraps are purely for safety. RAW means no squat suit, bench shirt or deadlift suit.
but you see the funny part youre missing is that lilly trains without belts wraps and straps he says it in the video you posted hoss. and in another video from lilly he talks about how alot of lifters rely on those tools to make them stronger and who was talking about style points....
He said he TRAINS without them for ONE PHASE of a training cycle. Not all the time. So far, he's always warn them in competition. I didn't miss anything. You did.
Lift is gooooooooooooddddddddddddd
do you even
MakeItNasty I don't even brah
I can't even
she wants the D
8
the lift is goood
i can see why brandon campbell hired dan green as a coach
Impressive strength.
Hello
Seriously trying to bash this guy, dan greene, for his range of motion? Wtf. 815 on deads. And his squat (well below parallel) really? Why hate? Dude has extremely awsome technique. And at 220, Lord. That's some of the best lifting I've ever seen.....makes me thing of ed coan kinda
he was in the 242 weight class for this meet it says
The speed of that first squat was insane
getting the bounce from squat suit
+Craig Atkinson not a squat suit dummy
Look like my 135😂😂😂
Andrew Sinclair Hell yeah mine too lol
The third one was fucking fast too
The lift is gooooood
strong as a bull, with no fat
very good!
John C Rambo lookong goooooddddd
he'd make a good thor
shevb comic Thor is 6 ft 6 how tall is this guy
5'10 lol
shevb Yeah Thor is 8 inches taller lol, but he'd still be pretty good. They'd just have to do some camera tricks. Play around with angles and stuff.
shevb He'd make a great Joker. Heath Ledger style.
Fernando Wong make all other actors short lol
THA LIFT IS GEWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD
Not a single fat guy lifted 2160lbs that day
feels great to know that lol. usually it's some dude who can't see his piece lifting big shit
at the end of the day its a competition not a beauty pageant very srs
NoParking well this proves you dont need to be a fat sloob to be top lvl competitor.
NoParking Yeah, but, like Dan Green said, fat can unnecessarily move you up a weight class.

Was the lift good?
Looking gooooood.
respect for Dan! His a great athlete.
I just love how he goes about sumo lifting. His whole set up. He really just gets in the zone. I'm jealous.
I said this before on some of his videos but DAMN, someone give back his Mjölnir!
Haha right dan Greene should've made the movies lol
Learned so much about form by watching this. There are so many little details that this guy gets right. #respect
Thank you Jim for providing us with top shelf footage of history being made!
The speed he goes up on the 375kg Squat is about the speed I do it. Oh yeah, with 200Kg less weight on the bar.
Jim, this vid should have a million views... people are crazy not to watch this!
Those lifts were so fast...Even the failed deadlift was about to be fast. I don't know HOW any max lifts could be so fast. What the hell is going on?
Lots of fast twitch muscles from habitually pumping quick reps
Dan is easily one of my favorite powerlifters to follow. Would love to get more insight into how he trains.
Surprised there's so many inexperienced people talking about his arch and if his deadlift sumo is legal lololol
Jacob Velazquez maybe they are experienced and just don't agree with them. Sumo is easier and if you want me to prove this I will but if you already know that's fine. As for arch it's obvious they should use some arch but I just don't like when people like that little Russian girl bend until they're lying on top of their head and move the bar like 2 inches.

honestly he is strong as fuck and I know he trains hard and eats a ton cause I follow him but I wonder what his gear protocol looks like
Like any other powerlifter plus cutting drugs.
That's not what we were discussing. His point was that the old squat suits like the one Ed is wearing in that video added so little that lifts performed in them should be considered "raw." that is one strong woman
Jason Genova b
I’m fucking dead 🤣🤣🤣
Wow this guy is a beast. That's what a real man looks like. Look at those quads. He's put in some serious work.
its gotta be the hair.... its gotta be. yup thats is it, im growing my hair out.
cjz74444 If it was I'd be stronger than him. I have longer and thicker hair. Too bad I still don't have a 1000 pound total...
+cjz74444 alright Samson.
cjz74444 Holy fuck bro your insanely yoked1!1!!!!1!!!!!!😳😳😳👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
This man not only benched 235kg, but he benched it with Queen playing in the background. The sheer will power to go through that is exceptional.
This man deadlifts like he's playing bass for AC/DC.
Dan's first squat attempt of 335 is EXACTLY what Sarychev benched for the all-time record. Let that sink in for a moment.
Yep, is amazing, but Dan have a more heavy squat.
That lady voice saying: The lift is good. Is that recorded or is there a girl saying it over and over?
I have no idea but its so f****** annoying
amazing technique and strength.
i fuckin love this guy. Does anyone know how tall he is?
simply amazing :) good job and cant wait to see more and become even more inspired :)
good god these comments are giving me an aneurism. "he's not doing deadlifts right" "no way that bench was that much because those were all 25s and a 10" "he gains momentum in deadlift" "he did a touch & go on bench" SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP
Brutal Strong all over. That 827lb/375kg squat is the most amazing.
Not a single steroid wasn't done that day! JUST KIDDING! this is fucking awesome!" Dan is insane!!
Weight classes in powerlifting...and Olympic weightlifting...are based on kilos rather than pounds. It's actually 110 kilos, which is 242.5 lbs.
hIS FUCKING LEGS ARE LIKE THE SIZE OF MY TORSO
Eat more
get fatter?
Michael Kilpatrick Get a bigger and stronger midsection more like it.
Kilstardo get fat and obese eating more does not make you grow more unless you take a fuck load of peds
Michael Kilpatrick Never said to get fat or obese dumbass.
Crazy depth on those squats. Great lifter.
Knee wraps, a belt, and wrist straps. Couldnt get anymore raw!
He really fucking strong tho!
popajuice it's clear in this video that those things count as raw wherever he is. Just because you don't agree with it, doesn't mean it isn't raw.
Frezzo you don't understand the concept of raw he had straps a belt in obviously not raw anywhere you go
Lucas Brown Well you're wrong, because in this federation it's allowed and is raw.
Bilbo Faggins It's a sumo deadlift. Made for people with different leverages because guess what... not everyone's anatomy is the same.
I can pull better conventional than I can sumo. Some people it's the other way around. You're also using different muscles for the sumo pull as opposed to the conventional.

I love this guy's Kung Fu deadlift.
its sumo dead lift
I meant the way he channels his Ki into the lift as if he were performing a Kung Fu strike.
Alex Bonesteel he's actually inflating his stomach to create tension between his core and the belt so he doesn't snap his back up. all powerlifters do it.
Thats the signal to the Gods of Chaos
im scared for his toes might be crushed one day due to that kung fu style.
great job dan, im getting into power lifting more over the lest few months. nice & consistent techniques being used.
For a guy to be that strong and that cut.....kinda goes against the laws of physics ...lol
Dude is amazing !!
thats when drugs come in.
Duh ?? Steroids Moron.
Laws of physics allow that. Human natural biology wouldnt, but hey... There are all sorts of "gear".
John Kraven Well...Moron....Usually when they're "cut up" like he is, there's more of the "bodybuilding" work involved.

DUH!!!...Of COURSE steroids are used,...BUT Green isn't the barrel built behemoth that most powerlifters are. And THAT was the point......
good lifts the bench was real good how the bar sunk into his chest he stopped and pushed it threw. wow very impressive. strong guy.
Brandon brought me here.
That was amazing. That's the image that I get when I think of a power lifter. Big and raw power. No games or gimmicks . He looks like a Viking !
Dude you were an idiot 8 years ago.
HA.HA
Hey this guy is doing my morning workout pretty well! Would like if he would join my hard workout!
(I always want to make one of this stupid troll/hater comments)
Damn good job of this guy!
I'm just wondering, how much break are they allowed in between each set and each squat/bench/deadlift?
Dan Green must have stole his wig from a viking
Can you imagine how much of a meathead head he'd look if he was bald ... just take that in for a second XD
Dan is a beast could hold both records at 220 and 242 with and without knee wraps. Amazing
What is considered RAW... seriouse question if anyone knows... hes squatting with a suit, knee wraps, and a belt?
cmares5858 It's a singlet, not a suit. It's not supportive. Belts are allowed everywhere. Knee wraps are allowed in many feds.
k cool thanks
The belt helps keep your back straight I believe. I lift at school and that's what I was told about the belt
Alex Da Boss By increasing intra-thoracic pressure, yeah.
Lloydatup You mean the intra-gluteus maximus pressure?
Did he just deadlift 815 with a hamstring tear? Look closely at 2:45 when he walks away, it looks like there is some significant bruising on the back of his left leg!
LOL'ed at those who said the weights were fake
y'all worried ab him getting injured while I'm listening to all this good music
Hold my beer
5 years late, but shouldn't you say hold my rum?
So Dan Green can squat more than he can dead lift....
Respect.
Peace, Billy
Thor is a heavy man.
Amazing that a guy with shoulders and arms that thick can still get his hands so close together when he squats. How does he do that?
not raw, would never be IPF, but def a strong dude
Is raw
+Jim McDonald knees are wrapped
+Wayland Miller is raw in this fed and Dan has competed both ways
+Jim McDonald ah gotcha, cool. I saw the titan singlet and thought it was ipf
+Wayland Miller but honestly, knee wraps like that is not really raw, we both know that
2:12 bad meets evil fast lane...now I'm subscribing lol
Omg. That was unreal. This dude is fucking insane! Looks great too... (no homo)
Wow, just wow... 8 for 9 is killer anyday. not to mention for any other 242 to hit the openers alone, it'd have been amazing. Dan is the man!
the title says 2,120 lbs lift am I right? I didn't see it.....trolling ass video title.
+pradit caparas It was totally there. I don't know how you missed it.
It was? Hmmm. I gotta take another look
+Jim McDonald who gives a fuck about total?!?! I can lift 100 pounds 30 times and then claim 3,000? Get the fuck outta here with that bullshit LMAO
+Kleo 84 A total is defined by three lifts only -- best squat, bench, and deadlift in a meet.
A total loser is defined as being a UA-cam troll.
***** not to be rude sir but you miss read his comment. He wasn't talking about total weight added up he was using a slang word popular to Californians. We put the word totally into our sentences like the word dude..
2:47 those hamstrings!!!! Lol
In any case, I wasn't aware that it's a "best of" series of lifts that are then combined for a single total.
eddie hall did. 1100 deadlift
Ridiculous. Congrats big man!
I thought raw meant no knee wraps, only sleeves
There's more than one definition.
Clearly.
Because was in a meet.
obviously not that clear since 1I asked a question about it and 2 raw "usually" means only sleeves
but thanks for taking the time to have a shitty attitude :D
No intent to be shitty but the circumstances of the video already answered the question, plus it's been answered on here a bunch of times. Ask better questions, get better answers.
thanks man from now on I'll make sure the questions i ask are really good, none of this "trying to get information" stuff. Keep up the good work!
Honestly, I just google stuff.
Man I really need to make a Dan Green tribute video! He's going on the to do list!
That would suck to have to powerlift to this gay old slow pace music. They should have turned on something better for this beast.
2:45 the guy who came and patted Dan on the back...that's the man from better faster stronger movie, right? Glad to see he hasn't retired
yep it was his meet and his gym.
sumo is equally as impressive as conventional.
sumo deadlift is very impressive. sumo is a lot harder to get off the ground but much easier to lock out. both conventional and sumo use slightly different muscle groups but are equally impressive
nope. Not when you only move half an inch.
this made my night.
raw isn't wrapped knees. sorry
+Leo Federici Belt, knee sleeves and shoes give an advantage
Frezzo You must have had a hard day
This is awesome love this guy so strong waight to waight ratio :D
some of the worst benching form I've seen
Do us all a favor and state your credentials for making such a judgement.
Oh really? Let's see u bench 518lbs then dumbass
+Jim McDonald it's just basic knowledge, a little arch is okay but he looks like the arc de triumph
+MadAboutBeats doesn't matter the weight, do you not see how much he arches
It's a basic lack of knowledge
Belts just helps you contract your abs harder, it's still your muscles that work. Wraps are purely for safety. RAW means no squat suit, bench shirt or deadlift suit.
I despise people who do sumo deadlifts, I wouldn't count it
Did more weight than you
your such a fucking idiot.
just shut up bro, btw I dont pull sumo
+YOU sound like a BITCH You don't pull sumo? OK that's fine. don't call me bro, I'm not your brother.
+YOU sound like a BITCH You don't pull sumo? OK that's fine. don't call me bro, I'm not your brother.
I can indeed honestly say that. So did the judges.
That's just insane. Very inspiring.
great lifts with great rock songs
thanks for showing me how weak I am with all you're video! Sorry if my english is incorrect...
love to know his gear and dosages
no hammy tear, the bruise is from his wraps from a workout the week before.
this guys sumo style is great, its like hes about to do an MC hammer dance or something at any second...
The other day on his FB he said it was from knee wraps a week or two ago.
dude, you're the best guy on the net.
That is the widest dead lift foot placement I have ever seen
great to watch, thumbs up dan the green machine!
but you see the funny part youre missing is that lilly trains without belts wraps and straps he says it in the video you posted hoss. and in another video from lilly he talks about how alot of lifters rely on those tools to make them stronger and who was talking about style points....
If dan entered a bodybuilding competition then he would win, he looks like a beast aswell
Thank you!
THIS SHIT IS WHAT I NEEDED TO GET MOTIVATED!!! THANKS
I love his psyche up ritual when he does deadlifts
Not sure of your point. There are specific weight classes in powerlifting...as with many sports. Perhaps you were not aware of that.
I can't fathom why anyone would give Dan's lifts a thumbs down. I just assume they're idiots.
He said he TRAINS without them for ONE PHASE of a training cycle. Not all the time. So far, he's always warn them in competition. I didn't miss anything. You did.
