His gf is more concerned about their social life, status and what people might think about him taking a pro-bonus case. And she likes living in her own "perfect world". So he dodged a bullet with this one. She just likes being with him during the good times, not the bad times. Relationships aren't only fancy dinners, theatre plays, dinner parties, social events. She is that kind of person who only likes talking about "pretty" and "perfect" things and nothing else. Fair enough, but that means that she's not for him. What would happen if he's going through a rough patch in his own life? Naah, he's better off without her.

You never discuss your cases with your relationship partner, in a restaurant or anywhere else, particularly if they involve murder. 1:23:30 into this, and when the trial judge in California rules your evidence inadmissible, why yes, you can go to the DCA to get an interlocutory writ, and after that, to the California Supreme Court. IMO that scene revealed the mismatch.

If more attorneys were like him, ppl wouldn't hate them as much & would trust the system much more than they/we do.
Thanks for the movie! I live in a very rural area where no one has access to TV unless through HughesNet satellite which is expensive so when I can get a signal to reach the internet, I come here for older movies from a less tumultuous time! Great escape! When this came out I was working 80hrs/week in construction with a family to care for as well so never had time for movies or TV period so this is a treat I allow myself!

That girlfriend was so selfish. The man was trying to help a suffering mother and all you can think about is maintaining your perfect world. Chatting off the man's ears with non important convo when it was obvious he was distance. Why not ask him to talk about, so he can get it out his system. The fact that you shun him everytime he wants to talk makes it more frustrating for him. And that goes for any sex, man or woman.
