Legit, I was driving to work one morning at like 4:00 a.m. in the pitch dark on a narrow road without shoulders. Two moose literally materialized. And it was in the winter in Alberta. I had to hit the brakes. Let the brakes go do some ninja maneuvering. One of the moose flipped back trying to go the other way. I threaded a Chevy Avalanche at like 120 km an hour between two moose noses. If I had a 360 footage of that video, it would be one of the wildest videos on the internet right now. It all happened within like 5 seconds.

I had 4 elk materialize in front of me a few weeks ago, 2:30am in the mountains of Idaho. I killed all 4 elk and totaled my ford e350, somehow walked away. Not quite the ninja skills as you my good sir.

Watched your video on all your questions that people have for dash cam yet I don't think you answered this one. When you remove the power source when it's in the dash cam loop mode does it turn the camera off? I have a USB port in my jeep that turns off immediately when I turn the vehicle off and was thinking about plugging it into that one.
If the external power is cut off, the camera will keep going until the internal battery days! Thanks for watching!

I am thinking, by reading that X3 is waterproof but I am not sure whether if you use the port to power it and still waterproof but I am thinking to mount it above the roof,
1. Waterproof part while connected to usb
2. Memory management
3. Power management like dashcam
I dont know will it fits the need but the waterproof part is already good for the purpose
When the charging port is open, it isn't water-resistant anymore. So if it gets wet while that door is open, might be risking it getting water inside.

@tongkiparts If you had a good strong mount, it would probably be okay. Might be awkward charging it, but if you find a set up you like, go for it!
@@TheDroneDad actually I am not asking about the mounting, I am good at it, I am asking those 3 parameters on the early comments, the waterproof for charging can be easily fixed using silicone glue anyway
How do you guys solve the overheating problem??? Mine shuts down occasionally because the battery is getting too hot, and I don’t even have any casing on😢😢😢. Anyone know how to deal with this issue?
When it's in the dash, I use the AC in the defrost position so it has cool air on it. If you click the related video in this one, I go into it in more detail.
After shutting down, can you get the recorded file when oN
@midhunpg1253 you need to stop the recording before shutting down the camera, to protect the file from getting corrupted. But yes. You should still be able to get the video when you turn it back on.
@TheDroneDad i dnt get u actually, cz due to overheating, the device automatically shut down by itself.or suppose it due to battery low. Then can we get that recording?
If we charge it and restart, can we get a corrupted file or ok file? Bcz Gopro will give us the video in good file. This much shutting down willnot affect on gopro while recording. The clip is safe!

@anything7087 unfortunately I never had the one x2, so I can't speak on it. But I bet it would overheat in the sun.

I make sure to turn on my car's AC and have it running on the dash/windshield area and it keeps the camera cool the whole time. Works great. Good luck!
Is the 360 feature really only functi9nal in post?... like, donyou have to 'edit' to then look around?
You are able to have an unedited 360 video. They are huge files, but you can keep them that way if you like. Most people just choose to edit them so you only see what they thought was interesting. But you can totally just keep it as a 360 video.
What mount is that? Is it good don’t want my camera to fall while using in car
It's a standard 1/4 inch dashboard mount. I've had this one on for over a year and it's never slipper or come off. Just PLEASE make sure you follow the instructions when you install the mount very closely. If you don't, I'm afraid it would fall off.

You'll also need to get an adhesive flat pad to put on your dash so this one has something to suction onto. You can see in the video that I have one.
Does it accept 1TB memory card?
Yes. It will accept a 1TB memory card, but with the loop recording, you wouldn't need one that large. Obviously there are other uses that could need that much storage. Thanks for the comment!
Does it work when the car is not working and does it have a night mode?
No night mode, but it'll run when the car is off as long as you have it plugged into a cigarette light port that has constant power. Might kill the battery after too long, though.

As long as you keep the AC on it, the X3 doesn't overheat.

Oh yeah. I keep mine charging the whole time. I drove a 15 hour trip straight without turning it off.

My alway over heat and shut off... I have to disconnect, charge, and record. My gopro will stay on charge and record for many hours without ever overheating 😩
If I hang it up upside down on the overhead mirror will it record properly I don't want the sun to damage it I live in Florida
Oh yeah. It records everything. You can just rotate the footage how you need to when you export it out of the camera! Very easy to do in the app.

It can. But if I turn on my AC on the defrosters, so the cool air comes over the top of it, it stays cool enough to run. Maybe if you live somewhere REALLY hot, you could still run it, but also bump down your video resolution and frame rate to help it not get too hot. Thanks for the comment!

No. You would have to do that on your own when starting and ending your drive.

As far as I know. Having it plugged in has no impact on its capabilities.

Depends your priorities. Best resolution and better low light quality, the Action 4 wins. Versatility and all-around field of view, the X3 takes it.
Availabel in x2?
As far as I know, the X2 doesn't have Loop Recording. But I may be wrong. They have added it in a firmware update that I don't know about.

I haven't used it on my Action 4 yet, but yes. The Action 4 does have Loop recording like this.

I'm not sure to be honest. I think Insta360 has a cloud service of sorts.

Question is how clear are the details, in particular numberplates 🤔
Depends how fast everything is happening, but I can regularly read plates on videos I have kept.

what resolution you recording at, as im testing 4k, but it seems to currently have a major overheating issue( not by touch but by the message that pops up after stopping the recording) and max recording due to this is around 15 mins. record at 2k and it will allow recording over 30 minutes
I record at 4k. I have a related video to this short on how I keep it from over heating and other questions answered.
I'm not entirely sure, how to use that mode or how to hit "save" after something happened and it was on that mode. Can you explain it?
If you use "loop recording" and want to save something, hit record button to stop that recording and it will keep the most recent interval you set (5 mins, 10 mins, etc). Then just hit record again to start a new interval.
after i tried to using it in shalow water it wont function the way it should be. the only thing to use it is to charge it and use it that way.
did water get into the charging port? So it ONLY works now if you have it plugged into a charger?
i secured it safely. the charging port and the battery. it is working fine and recording well until the battery runed out. thats the time it mulfunction

How long does your memory care actually last with the power source?
I have a 512gb card in there, which is enough to record the longest interval option the Loop Recording offers. I'm blanking right now if it's 20 or 30 minutes.
Aslso It depends on the video resolution it record it at 1080P you can get 2 hr battery life
Do you have to hit record every time?
I hit record when I start driving, and then if something happens I want to keep, I stop it and restart a new recording.

Not if you use additional factors to help it not to. If you click on the related video to this short I recently did a video where I cover that and other frequent questions.
Lol that’s the least you want to do with this camera. Why? Because there’s a “recording gap” that happens every thirty minutes of recording where it is “not” recording but saving the footage to memory. So if an accident happens while the “recording gap” occurs you’re SOL.
If you are recording using the loop feature, you will always have the most recent amount of time. So as long as you stop the recording after the accident happens, you will not miss anything. Thanks for the comment!

I haven't tried to put it ON the video, but it totally has the Metadata to provide that information. Yes.

Metadata, when was the last time anyone came across an insurance agent who is tech-savvy to understand how to use their own phone besides taking photos? No native watermark, insurance agencies simply ignore it

Dash cam, on front recoding. All dash cams loop record so then what’s the point of using this as an expensive dash cam
My point was more of a "bonus use" of the Insta360 X3, and not a "buy this instead of other dashcams. The 360 degree field of vision also may help in a lawsuit if someone claimed you weren't paying attention when you knew you were.
@@TheDroneDad isn’t 360 limited to 5mins and then you have to manually restart. So you’d have to have it recording in 360 BEFORE and incident were to happen
No time limit on the x3. Turn on loop when you start the trip, if something happens, stop the recording and it'll save the most recent interval of time (whatever you have it set on - 2 mins, 5, 10, 15, whatever). So even if someone road rages with you before the accident, you could get that on cam too in the same file. I left mine on for a 15 hour road trip just in case something happened.

I have the same thing. I think it automatically saves more to the recording just in case you needed something that happened just before you hit record. I keep meaning to actually test that theory.

I take it with me everywhere I go. So in the car it is either dash cam or on a selfie stick hanging out the window or stuck to a mount outside the car. It gets use every day in and out of the car.

that 500 dollars might save you a lot of money or even jail if something bad happens and you need to prove your innocence.
