Yay, another Lucy episode! She's my favorite character because she always says exactly what's in my head about every single thing she ever talks about!
Sorry to hear about your pup, Brian. I know how hard it is to lose a dog. We lost our beautiful husky Morgan a couple of years ago and it still bring tears to my eyes when I think of him. They are definitely members of our families.
So THAT'S why I haven't seen any new output in so long! I'm glad you're back. These skits are the best send-up of religion since The Life of Brian. Too bad you split with Amy; the two of you are great together. Sorry to hear about your pug Aries. He was wonderful in Mr. Deity and the Artist. I hope see more soon. It's worth every cent.
Dude the end...thats awful Im sorry to hear that. I had a yr like that in 2012 and im still recovering. Best of luck to you. And you have a beautiful head of hair I hope you keep it =]
Truly sorry to hear about your troubles. Your videos enrich my life and provide me copious laughter and mirth for which I am truly grateful. I have nothing to offer right now save for ether hugs and accolades but they are yours for what it is worth. Thanks again.
"Ignorance is blessed" -- Haha! So true. Thank you for another spiffy production. I feel compelled again to spring for your next ice cream! Will get to that pronto. Hang in there, and thanks again!
I suppose it's just a coincidence that this video appeared during the High Holy Days, when we are supposed to examine our lives for the past year and then make a donation to charity to atone for whatever we did that was bad. Nice going!
"this is why people dont help each other, they think you are taking care of it" this is why Texas prayed for water during the drought..... *i dont know why i am laughing so hard*
Lucy and Jesse, *snicker*... oh my god, just found your channel and LOVING it! Gonna have a hard time not favoriting every video hahaha! Hey, YOU might just be the ONE youtuber I can actually post on facebook. Im swimming (drowning?) in a fundy, rural community where my family are quietly closeted atheists. I still like to plant subtle seeds of critical thinking when I teach. Logic through your brand of humor seems to be a perfect fit for my facebook connections!
Great to see you and Lucy back. I love the name Jesse on this show. Hilarious.
10 років тому+1
Holy crap! I've been gone for awhile. Really sorry you split with Amy. And the other bad stuff. Glad to help out with a little regular contribution for all the smiles you've given me.
I'm just a random person on the internet who's been watching you in silence for years, so this will mean absolutely nothing to you. However, I'm truly sorry to hear all the bad that has happened in your life lately and I genuinely hope things get better. Your work has always been exactly what I want from satire: say something funny, but say something. I’m bored by pointless, milquetoast humor designed to offend no one or challenge any worldviews. If you're not willing to have your worldview challenged on a regular basis then you'll never know if it's right. Mr. Deity has always been funny but it's also always been challenging and smart, and I hope with everything going on you can keep doing it.
"Ignorance is blessed" -- lulz Sorry to hear about your dog, Brian. It has been 4 years since I went through that unpleasant experience and I still think about her. I hope you had a friend/loved one/neighbor to be there with you. It really helps to have a shoulder to cry on.
Jack Bandit I don't have a lawn any more. I'm an apartment dweller now -- and paying almost as much for half the square footage and no lawn! WTF??? But, I do have an elevator and five jacuzzis, so... :-(
I can relate to you almost exactly with the exception of the unfortunate health issues.I'm sorry for that. I really wish I could donate, but I'm going back to school after a long absence. Right now I can barely afford to feed myself. But I love your stuff, and always look forward to watching, and (obviously since I'm writing this 2 months later) re-watching your videos. You do good. Thanks for that.
This is quality content with high production value. I dare you to swich on the TV and find something better. Sending .99 per episode really isn't a whole lot for what you guys get here. If some more people would do that on a regular basis, instead of just consuming for free, the show would be on air more often.
TheSponkomat Mr Deity has a Patreon account which can be found easily by going to his webpage (linked in the description). Patreon is a pay-per-creation deal, and you can cap the number of creations you will pay for per month in case the computer goes berserk.
Obviously I have been behind the curve on donating to your awesome show. I know some of the other YT Atheists like Thinking Atheist and Jaclyn Glenn have gone to getting sponsorship/commercials
Ouch. Many tough breaks there, sir; my sympathies. Glad to hear your health issue was at least... less disastrous than it might have been? Hope your hair continues to hold up, and I agree: keeping that heart sealed, locked, and barricaded is the best option from here on out.
LadyhawksLairDotCom Yeah, I experience someone "not getting it" first hand. It was kind of awful. I knew you'd be an animal lover. That's so cool about your parrot. I love birds. Amy and I always talked about getting one.
misterdeity As far as I'm concerned, my parrot is a member of the family and has been for more than 25 years. Aries was a member of your family. Of course it's going to hurt like hell, especially if you're ill, which makes everything even harder. I really feel for you, Brian. I feel for you, too, blanktester. I'm so sorry you lost your friend and loved one. :(
EebstertheGreat Yeah well, the same could be said of Paypal. Point is, people know the brand, and it's part of a larger system which is easier for people to assimilate into their routines than a specific website. Doesn't seem like there would be any disadvantage to them opening a Patreon page on top of their normal donation methods.
Hi misterdeity. Very sorry to hear about all that terrible stuff you're going through. As someone who has gone through a lot this last year and a half, through stuff you would only ever hope to witness in a movie or other work of fiction, I feel for you.. So sorry to hear about you losing your dog as well. It must be a terrible feeling. I know eventually I'll have to go through that too having become very attached to my rabbits. It's in these types of situations that only in family and genuine friends, real human connection, can we pull through. Of course pets help too do they not :) Would love to swing by your studio sometime. and talk shop :) I'll be moving back to LA next year. I should have never left! Good luck with everything misterdiety.
misterdeity No problem : ) Hang in there pal. Looking forward to your next video. I'll be sure to drop on by once I get back to the states! Take care misterdeity.
Just wanted to first say that I Love Your Work Brian! One mistake though I spotted on the snake handler part. The verse in the Bible (Mark 16:17-18) that snake handlers obsess upon was added many years after 'Mark' originally wrote his story. I hope to give to you in the future, but I studied religion in college instead of medicine, and am kind of poor currently. At least I discovered what most religious leaders keep hidden from their flocks and save 10% of my annual income. Hope to pass some of that along. Thanks again!
Brian, I'm sorry to hear of your health problems. As much as I love the Mr. Deity show, I urge you to take care of yourself first. Don't let the stress of feeling like you have to produce new episodes make your health problems even worse. You've given us a lot of laughs over the years, you deserve some time off to take care of yourself.
Good grief, sorry to hear about all the change and loss goin' on for ya.. Nothing worse than loosing a "fur baby" total suckage. As a content creator / performer myself I know all to well the challenges of "monetization" when it comes to our online environment. Donation made brother. Keep up the amazingly good work! I ALWAYS enjoy everything you do, and consider you and your work no small part of my journey to atheism. Thanks man.
I didn't realise he was being serious at the end the first time I saw this. He does bits like this a lot where he pretends his life is falling apart so w'll donate. But a lot of these bad things did happen to him, I guess. That sucks. :(
I'm so sorry for all of your struggles. Yet, it's the dog tribute that nearly brought me to tears. Pugs are just too darn cute. I did miss your show; it's always amazed me how Lucy is the moral center of the Almighty Father. Being Lucy, I suppose it IS her job to question authority and find Mr. Deity's considerable failings. (And it does make me wonder if that carried over into your marriage. Not prying, though.) Re Bruce's rumored sex change, Bruce segues well enough into Brie for me, poor guy. Glad to see you back!
I love you and your videos. I'm so sorry to hear about your failing health and your beloved Aries Bopeejay* (sorry about butchering the name). I recently had to do the same with my Molly and miss her so dearly. Keep up the good fight brother! I feel for you, but unfortunately can't give you money yet.
Well, you know what they say, “When life gives you lemons, punch a kitten in the face.” Wait. No. That doesn’t sound right. “You make lemonade!” Sorry. “You make lemonade . . . mixed with the tears of kittens after you punch them in the face.” That’s it! In all honesty, sorry you’ve had such a bad year. Not sure if this helps at all, but your skits have made me laugh through some difficult times of my own. I'm sure there are many others who could say the same.
You know the funny thing about that story of Jobe (or however you spell his name) that you mentioned... I once had a conversation with a Christian who didn't even know that story was in the Bible. I, an Atheist, was the first person to point it out to him. And Christians think we don't do our research when we criticize the stories in the Bible. They cherry pick the stories they want to believe in their religion and ignore everything else in the Bible that contradicts what they believe in.
tell them about Lot's daughters getting him drunk, having sex with him (one at a time) and then getting pregnant by their own dad that way. It's a real knee-slapper
Why exactly does this show cost so much? We see people doing other similar things (and also very different things that cost money to produce) and managing to get by on the ad revenue and such on youtube. If your intake is failing to match your production costs then perhaps lowering the production costs might help? The begging section used to be a hilarious part of the show, back when it was a quick skit at the end of each show, but now 3 minutes and 30 seconds of this episode alone (almost half) is the begging section. So sorry to hear about your year, though, Brian. Here's to you managing to bring your show back to the fun routine it always seemed it to be!
I completely agree that the begging segment is too long, but the fact is that good video production costs money. If their production values dropped, the show would lose some of its appeal. Would you watch it if it were filmed in someone's basement from a single camera angle with a junk microphone?
DanThePropMan Some of us find the begging segments funnier than the actual video! If you don't like the begging segments just stop the video after the skit is over. Is that really so difficult? Yes, we all want free entertainment, but people do have bills to pay and after a long days work at a job, the last thing Brian probably wants to do is sit down and create a Mr. Deity episode.
dgtlrn Honestly, you're paying for the time it takes me to make these. Between the writing, the pre-production, the lighting, shooting, importing, editing, color correcting, sound editing/mixing, etc... It takes me a good 40-60 hours (largely depending on how easily the writing comes). I've actually spent weeks researching and writing some of these episodes. The first episode of Season Four (Mr. Deity and the Void) took nearly a month to write (and went through a bazillion drafts) because I couldn't figure out how to write something about a timeless being (where nothing can, by definition, "happen") who lived in a void of nothingness. Sure, I ended up cheating, but what else could I do? And believe it or not, writing something this short (3-5 minutes) is actually way more difficult than writing a 30-minute piece (or even a feature). I've done it all, and this is by far the most difficult. I know that seems counter-intuitive, but it's true. Also (and I'm sure other writers will back me up on this), when you're a writer, you're almost never writing. It's all-consuming. You can ask my family about that one. I'm annoying as hell. So, there's also the annoying as hell tax to pay.
"Ad revenue and such" on UA-cam depends on number of views. 20-30k per video is on the low end of monetizable. People actually making a living off UA-cam revenue alone have an order of magnitude more views per video.
Disturbed0ne Eh.. yes, I have. Most of it. Why do you ask? Neither 'Lucifer (or Lucy)' nor 'fallen angel' are mentioned in the bible. It's common mythology.
And then, just when the bleak grey sameness of it all threatened to crush my spirit forever...a little bit of Joy came back into my life.... A new Mr Deity video!!!! 8-) (Yes, I may be exaggerating, just a little...)
Yeah, funny how they never show up when there's somebody with actual scientific knowledge/understanding around though. 'Miracles' abound for the credulous and ignorant, but let one guy with a set of calipers and an honestly inquiring mind wander past and the miracles vanish like a fart in the wind.
Muljinn God can cure any illment. Except amputees. If you get cancer or aids you can pray it away, but if you loose a hand then you are screwed, cause God will not heal you
@@misterdeity Just wondering if you have any updates on the gossip of your personal life. I’ve been checking the front cover of the National Enquirer but I haven’t seen any updates on you and Lucy. I don’t think your Wikipedia page has any updates either. You’ve been doing a great job dodging the paparazzi!
@@misterdeityWhat kind of doggie, and why aren’t your puppy’s eyes the focus of every begging segment??? Sorry that things didn’t work out. UA-cam has recently been suggesting that I re-watch your old episodes. Lucy does such a convincing job pretending to be annoyed at you.
Because it wasn't the War of the Roses (well, actually, it was a little). But Amy and I have been friends for 25 years. A marriage that didn't work couldn't topple that. We're still very good friends.
Keep on rockin', Brian!...and Amy! Hope the laughs are still there.
The more of these I see, the more sense Lucy makes.
Yay, another Lucy episode! She's my favorite character because she always says exactly what's in my head about every single thing she ever talks about!

The "Sorry, Brin" thing made me laugh out loud. All-in-all, a fun episode, and I hope that things start getting better for you.
I recently bought a couple of DVDs, so hopefully that does its part in supporting the show!

blanktester So sorry to hear about your dog. It's a devastating loss if you love a dog like I did. I miss him terribly, and my heart goes out to you.

Writting takes time. You only get to see the final product, but you don't see the hundreds of previous versions that were thrown in the trash.
"Ad revenue and such" on UA-cam depends on number of views. 20-30k per video is on the low end of monetizable. People actually making a living off UA-cam revenue alone have an order of magnitude more views per video.
*peeks head through door*
So, Lucy is a fallen angel now?
Henri Zwols Always was.
Henri Zwols Have you actually read the bible? o_O
Disturbed0ne Eh.. yes, I have. Most of it. Why do you ask?
Neither 'Lucifer (or Lucy)' nor 'fallen angel' are mentioned in the bible. It's common mythology.
Henri Zwols You say that like the bible isn't just mythology as well... o_O
Didn't intent it that way.
What are you aiming at?
Oh, Lucy, what a hot babe. And MUCH more intellectual.
And then, just when the bleak grey sameness of it all threatened to crush my spirit forever...a little bit of Joy came back into my life....
A new Mr Deity video!!!!
8-)
(Yes, I may be exaggerating, just a little...)
Reports of miracles are actually pretty common in the world's least developed regions.
If you get cancer or aids you can pray it away, but if you loose a hand then you are screwed, cause God will not heal you
Cesar Coll _"God can cure any illment. Except amputees._
He does it for lizards, but not for humans. Think about that...
Ƒȓǟǹǩ Ɫⱥțȇȓ true. Still, if you are a human, and you lose your hand, you are screwed because God does not know how to make those grow back.
Cesar Coll If it cannot, there's no reason to call it a god. If it can, but doesn't, it should be called a demon.
All the best in all your days ahead. I hope the worst is behind you.
Humble-ocity. LOL. I like your occasional word mangle-izations.
Is Lucy's last name "Fur?"
Are you on Patreon?
Reid Nicewonder Getting set up with that. Thanks.
Giggles abound!
"hello!?!"
Is that your wife? She is very attractive. Oh a side note, thanks for all of your videos. Please keep it up.
That's my ex-wife. But we've been back together for the last two years. So who knows?
misterdeity Well best of luck to you in all your future endeavors.
@@gf2e We finally ended things in 2018. We are still doggie parents together and friends. I continue to seek someone who can endure me.
I'm going to make an animated spoof of this show
*parody
Harvey Droke I'd love to see it.
Does Mr Deity do parts like moon-jenny. I want to see what he does with Allahahaha
I may not be first, but I am the second coming.
Did you and Amy really split up :(
God you are funny. (notice no comma)
Hahaha!
Wait, as I understand the Lucy the Devil was your wife, so if you divorced, how come you're still shooting episodes together?
Because it wasn't the War of the Roses (well, actually, it was a little). But Amy and I have been friends for 25 years. A marriage that didn't work couldn't topple that. We're still very good friends.
misterdeity Glad to hear that!
Not one werewolf....I almost lost my $!#&
thats my month give me the money
I liked the old Lucy . . . is this the new bipolar Lucy?
jeez man. why are you distancing yourself from your family?? i am sad to hear all this.
ericsbuds That was a joke. I'm not actually distancing myself from my family. Just the opposite.
misterdeity oh dear! my sarcasm meter is off today. I was just thinking oh no! Well im glad to hear that!
sorry about your dog
I felt bad. I sent you money.
Is Amy taking half your money?
And amputees. :(
rolf harris. sorry someone had to say it :D
