    • @genericwhitemale9566
      @genericwhitemale9566 11 днів тому +6

      @randomcommenterheredontmin4390 you have to remember that every American sport only has one major super league where every team plays. That means the money for the entire sport is basically concentrated between 30 - 32 different teams. Therefore, each player gets obscene amounts of money. In the EFL alone, there are 4 major professional leagues (5 if you count the national league where about half of the teams are professional) with 92 teams in total (116 with the national league). While the money is pretty highly concentrated in the Prem, the Championship has a lot of teams that are very rich and pay their players a lot, and even League 1 has a few rich teams.

    i dont get this "he chose money" hes literally a man city fan, same as phil, same as mcatee, if they think their career would benefit massively they would do that but hes the starting number 9 in arguably the biggest league (along side the spanish league) usually contending for champions league every year, the extra edge is he is a boyhood fan, so why when youre already at the top WITH your favourite club would you leave if you enjoy it, idk maybe im bias
    and also to add to this, a lot of football players don’t support teams because at the end of the day it’s their job, so they have positives and negative opinions on certain clubs and that’s it, support is a strong word i agree but looking at it barebones he’s a man city, leeds and fan of his local team in norway, he probably “supports” dortmund as he has a history there, i get support for us fans can be just one die hard team but like jose mourinho said, he has affection for all his clubs (except spurs), so yeah that clears some things up i hope

      No he isn't a City fan, its a well known fact he is actually a Leeds Fan which is the city of his Birth. He might have more affinity to the club than say a KdB die to his dad spending 3 years there but those 3 years he spent at City were far from his dads most signficant years, he got them relegated in the first year having played most of the season injured, had surgery in the summer and basically didn't play for them again before retiring (People often Claim keanes tackle ended his career but was playing with strapping on his leg for much of the season and has said himself he was carrying an injury. He actually finsihed the match after the tackle, played for Norway in the midweek and started the next league game so that is actually a myth)

      @anirudhraghavarachuri9989 12 днів тому +4

      I guess it means they know that they're not gonna be punished harshly. Their transfer activity also points to the same, weren't very active in the summer and have been super aggressive now (I agree some of it could be because they've been shit the past few months, but the players they're signing are more long term projects anyway)

    • @derelict06
      @derelict06 12 днів тому

      @ no, it means they’re hoping they won’t be punished harshly. Hoping and knowing are different things. Wealthy people always think they’re gonna get away with it, Charles Ponzi for example was still yuckin it up like everything was normal until he went to prison. Outward behavior doesn’t mean anything.
      Also, their transfer activity, if anything, indicates the opposite. They didn’t do like the Man City of old did, go out and buy a top class striker for 100m and give him 250k wages, they got an up and comer from the Bundesliga on low prem/high championship level wages. They got a decent 20 yr old CB from the French league on low prem/high championship level wages. Wages they can afford to pay if they get knocked down to the Championship.
      Haaland is a different convo. If they get knocked down they’ll have to sell him anyway, so what’s it matter if they don’t resign him and sell him for 100m release clause or do resign him with a “100m if relegated” release clause? There isn’t one.

    • @LeominsterFC
      @LeominsterFC 11 днів тому +3

      The delusion you people spin for yourselves to make it easier to accept City’s success is staggering and also impressive. Please come back when the verdict comes. PS- I’m also willing to bet everything I own, which I’d wager is significantly more than you own, that IF City were given a relegation-worthy points deduction that not only will Haaland and the rest not leave, they will break every record available in said league and be back challenging for the PL the very next season. You overestimate the value of one season in a long career; a season in which if these players stayed and succeeded in, they’d be immortal legends of the club. Going to the championship does not mean City MUST sell players. Their finances are beyond stable and could absolutely sustain the revenue loss for one season. This is a club that is going to be eating at the top table at the very least until these owners leave. Please have a look at their chairman Khaldoon Al-Mubarak and the companies he works for and the business they do. These people do not lose, period. Best in class is an understatement. They got a sporting director and coach from the greatest Barcelona side in history. They turned their academy into inarguably a top two academy in world football. They have some of the best facilities in world football. They invest heavily into their men’s, women’s, and youth teams. Their commercial success is currently matched only by Real Madrid. If you seriously think relegation (which can only be to the Championship by the way, they don’t have the power to send them down multiple leagues) will derail this club, you are living firmly in lala land.

    But since football is just this era’s gladiator games and largely scripted to coop the attention of the masses so that oligarchs and states may launder their dirty laundry, continue committing genocide, et al, this is just a spoiler to the fact that City will walk free after raping any notions of fair play like a drugged person at a college party somewhere. 🤭

      At any given time, there are 450 players with roster slots in the NBA-30 teams with 15 players. The collective bargaining agreement between players and owners ensures that both sides receive around 50% of basketball related income every year. The NBA had $11B+ revenue last year. So basketball is a very profitable league with few players and a fairly equitable split between players an ownership. Luka Doncic (top 5 player in NBA) will have an upcoming contract extension that will top out at $70m in his final year. It’s just a completely different structure

      No, it could not be that. Look at the player share of total revenue in sports in the US. It's the main thing that player's unions negotiate over.
      They aren't "overpaid." You could argue that pro athletes shouldn't make that much money, but you'll have to take that up with the fans that pay the money to support the teams and support the advertisers.

      Caps don't work in a global sport as the MLS has found, even with the likes of DP's and other mechamisms they have around salary caps they still find themselves resctricted. it resticts who they can bring in as often other leagues can offer a player more and the struggle to keep players from moving to other leagues that should be weaker leagues. And for example if you had £100k a week as a cap, in some leagues that would be nothing as the clubs can afford that with ease but the cost of living is much higher in that country, while in another league no club can afford that really but living there is really cheap so its more appealing financially.

      Man City keep a lower number of players than most clubs, and they have already kept KDB on 450k a week for years with no issues. They also have stellar financial management and make way more money than most other clubs on sponsorships, media, movies, Netflix/Prime series, etc.
      There's a reason that out of the 115 charges (or 130, I believe by now), only 6 are connected to financials, and all of them are for the 2016/17 season. Whatever you want to say about them, the owners are running and managing the club unbelievably well.
