Yeah, we fumbled at Monaco and Celtic matches. At Monaco match there we fumbled and we lost with bad referee decisions by the end of the match after 75th minute onwards, while Celtic, man, that was horror to watch. If we got those flipping 3 points from at least Monaco or even Celtic, not just 1 per match we would be in top 24 easy. It's funny, when this new format was introduced this season, you had loads of traditionalists complaining about it......but for those of us who play a lot of Football Manager, we knew that it's actually a pretty good format! We literally felt the same way when it was adopted by FM! We didn't want the old group stage to go away and we thought this new league format was weird and stupid, but after playing with this new league format over MANY simulated seasons, not only did we get used to it, we also realized that it's actually pretty good! That's probably why they went ahead and implemented it in real life! We were the guinea pigs. We beta tested their format and it worked. I feel pretty confident in saying that, because in Football Manager, we also road tested the proposed 3-team-group expanded World Cup format, and we found out that it was complete shit and open to exploitation, so FIFA have now scrapped that idea completely (you're all welcome).
I mean, depends on what you want from a competition really. If it s maximum drama (then again you do get 2 more matches to put together a run of form but no more pot protection, even if you do well at the start there are an untold number of ways the other results can affect your position etc) then sure it s great but if it s fairness it s not really, you don’t play against most of your direct competitors anymore, plus the fact that it is really tough to follow (especially on the final day where they are backloading all the drama to, NOBODY can follow 18 matches at once, we d need a constant live table with instant updates), it ruins any prediction attempts because everyone has a different schedule and so on. Sure luck was a factor with the groups too but at least you knew exactly who you re up against and being a higher pot helped. My team (FCSB) is doing great in EL and I do like the extra two spots for the qualifiers for example, the no CL->EL dropdown etc but overall I d probably still pick the old format
@edi0157 See, I'd say this format is more fair than the old one. In this new format, you play 2 teams each from pot 1, pot 2, pot 3 and pot 4. So yeah, you might get a couple of really tough games against Madrid and Bayern from pot 1, but you'll also get some more 'winnable' games from weaker teams like Sturm Graz or Young Boys in pot 3 or 4. You still get a couple of guaranteed big games against European giants, but you also get to play against more than just 3 teams, you play a wider variety of teams, and you get a better spread of potentially winnable games, giving smaller teams more of a chance of qualifying for the next round. You probably wouldn't have seen the likes of Lille or Aston Villa doing so well and going straight through to the round of 16 in the old format, because they would've been unseeded teams, and likely would've been placed into a 'Group of Death' against the likes of Madrid, Bayern and Inter, all of whom they'd have to play twice. Lille or Villa may have got a win or two in that scenario, but they would still probably be finishing bottom in those groups (and miss out on dropping down into the Europa League too)
@@BadgerOff32 Yeah but then being better doesn’t give you that much of an advantage anymore and you still only compete against a few teams but are judged against all of them, it s a tough act to balance between rewarding good performances and not making it the oligarchy of clubs it already is, that s why I was saying it s more random now. Still, the other arguments about ease of following (like Z even mentioned throughout this campaign) stand. I do see both sides of it really
This was ANOTHER demonstration that some fans (specially the internet ones) complain too much before even seeing the result, people have to be less traditionalist, we can't always use the same thigns that worked 18 years ago but that now are stalled
Liverpool rested every key player pretty much. We didn’t fumble we just knew we have a lot bigger fish to fry going ahead so finding these games to rest our best players are very rare so we took the opportunity when we could
@Grookey4Smash Finishing first doesn't look like a fumble. That's like saying: Oooh, that quarterback ran -3 yards on the final drive. Dude, he was kneeling because they were already winning and were thinking about the games coming up.
i like this format, and i feel like the table will always be this close because there’s more teams (36) than possible points (24) so you’ll always get teams tied in points and close races that could land you in the top 8 or below 24th in a few games
@@KylerMalone98 He said it's surprising that UEFA managed to accidentally create an amazing competition and exciting league system, not that the competition itself is surprising
@ City where never losing to club Brugge man and still ifs and buts are fun but nothing happened in the end the old system used have big teams knocked out all the time due to less games and less teams going through, when you have 24 of 36 teams going through the probability of big teams knocked out is extremely lower which is just what the big teams want plus it’s going to be less special when big teams play each other now, I barely kept up with the UCL this year due to the fact to really only the last 2 games mattering and the due it being too complicated to sit and do math on where every team will be after there games
That last CL matchday was pure insanity and I’m all in for it. If you only watched 1 match you missed probably football history here. I was in a pup with fans from like 10 different club supporters
Take a look at Liverpool's starting XI and subs... Don't get me wrong, good for PSV, they did what they needed to on the night. And yes, "PSV beat Liverpool", but that shouldn't make anyone think any more or less of PSV or Liverpool than they did before the match because that was meaningless for Liverpool. (Even if Barça had taken the top seed, the draw would still be against the same pairing in the round of 16.)
Love the new format. Think it'd be better and even more chaotic if only the Top 16 qualify, but all and all, it's certainly better than the Group Stage.
fun fact : If psv draws Feyenoord they will face each other 3 midweeks in a row February 5th : PSV - Feyenoord in the quarter finals of the dutch cup february 11th/12th : UCL Playoffs first leg February 18th/19th : UCL Playoff 2nd leg
@bassmindopekukjata FM hasn't included the way the group stage was drawn, the criterion that you couldn't play a team in your group. As well as things like 9 or 10 will play 23 or 24. Also teams in the top 8 know which 4 teams they would face in the round of 16. All games of the final day being done at the same time isn't an FM thing either.
I am not sure but it could be that UEFA made these things public only after the cut-off date for the FM database and rule settings. They left it quite late afair. @swastikpadhy5179
If we dont count Sturm Graz since Leipzig already was out ,they really had a hard draw of teams to play against ,granted they still underperformed but its not as shocking when you look at the teams they had to play .
As a Belgian, I'm happy that DInamo Zagreb lost 9-2 in their first game. Who knew that this goal difference would eventually mean they don't progress. Also people predicted that with 10 points you would qualify most of the time, here we are with an 11 points team eliminated.
You Belgians singlehandedly kept Man City in. I still believe that you Belgians need to learn how to run a proper league first because you don't know how football works. Like Union St. Gilloise has won the Belgian League 4 times in a row under how human beings would run a league yet somehow you don't run a proper league. Like imagine if we decided as a group that yes Spain may have beaten England in the European Championship final 2-1 but actually Moldova topped the UEFA Nations League Group D2 group so THEY'RE the European Champions? That's literally the Belgian League. Y'all run a league then just decide on another group stage that has nothing to do with the league to determine the champs. Honestly, I think they should kick Belgium out of UEFA and replace them with Russia until Belgium learns how to run a proper league.
@kleptrep94 You assume everyone here likes our league? Trust me most people hate this formate and would have loved Union as multiple champions, but the dudes in power literally have a function at Club Brugge. I hate Club Brugge but I always support Belgian clubs in Europe. No need to assault me for our quality isn't enough to beat a team like Man City. We can't compete, Man City is literally worth 10 times the 16 Belgian first division clubs together.
@@ThaGamingMisfit Everyone there also hates the format. I'm pretty sure that Club Brugge beat Aston Villa so I don't get why you couldn't have just drawn with Man City. I understand why, it's because for some inane reason they waited until Man City started winning again before they restarted it. (They should've had the CL run concurrently with the ECL.)

Long time subscriber here, first time commenting. I agree with you on the fact this format was a good idea from uefa. Not only there’s more games on the group stage and also we can watch more games between big teams early this competition, there’s action until the last round. Let me just disagree with your option regarding Benfica. Yes, they have been an inconsistent this year, but only the robbery of the year on the previous round against Barcelona stopped them to be in the first 8. I invite you to check the game, specifically the last 2 minutes, where a penalty against Barcelona was turned into the game winner on the opposite goal… keep the good work, looking forward to your nexts videos.
"Robbery of the year"... they were granted a wifi pen, and complain about a "pen" on the last mins of the game that wasnt a pen, there's video evidence of the benfica player stepping on fermin's foot causing him to lose balance. Its more like the "crying of the year"
@@tupacmontesbu5538 well if you give one "wifi pen" then mantain the same criteria for the next one during the same game. Congratulations on the qualification money, we know you need it
This is probably the most I have ever enjoyed being a Villa fan, maybe ever. The format clearly was a money grab but I think it’s accidentally been amazing which makes it much harder to criticise
There's nothing accidental about the success of this format. Teams have the incentive to win every game and to score lots of goals. The new format faces off every team to 8 distinct rivals giving a better idea of the teams current form plus having more interesting matchups throughout the beginning phase. It was planned to be this way, the previous format had a very dull group stage, and a lot of limitations during ro16 since same country teams cant face each other. The argument of it being a money grab falls flat because yes it is meant to increase revenue on the competition but in entertainment (thats what a sport is) that is done by increasing competitivity, which is what the ucl did. There's more revenue cause its more interesting, not the other way around. The group stage has been interesting since day 1. And it kept getting interesting as it went on
You’re right that Girona is a one season wonder, but you could’ve briefly mentioned why they’re playing so badly lately. Most of the great players they had last season were bought by bigger clubs 9:51
I dont think Girona are a one season wonder. Their succes comes off the fact they belong to the same group as city, allowing them to sign and get players at a "low cost" since its actually city who is signing them. They will continue to fight for top spots in the coming years.
Look, my team (FCSB) is doing great in EL and I do like the extra two spots for the qualifiers for example, the no CL->EL dropdown etc but overall I d probably still pick the old format, depends on what you want from a competition really. I m honestly just going to watch the FCSB game tonight and find out what happened in the other ones later), it ruins any prediction attempts because everyone has a different schedule and so on. Sure luck was a factor with the groups too but at least you knew exactly who you re up against and being a higher pot helped. I feel really bad for Dinamo Zagreb though, going out on 11p after beating Milan is heartbreaking, then again it would be the same for Brugge if they missed out, just tough in general. Leipzig was just terrible of course. The almost fixed draw for the playoffs is also interesting, has it s pros and cons too. Still don’t understand why the Conference League only has 6 games though, is it to cut on travel expenses? To cut down on the coefficient point earning potential? Who knows
My biggest problem with this new format is that the teams from the top 5 league won't be changing that much every season. It'll become repetitive at some point. Also, 8 games is too much. 6 games allows for more surprises.
The only thing I don't like and can't understand why, and also would appreciate it if someone clarifies it for me, is why don't teams get paired according to their place in the table. You know, like in the NBA, 9 v 24, 10 v 23, 11 v 22 and so on.
It is almost like that: 9 and 10 play 23 and 24. So 9-24 and 10-23 is possible but also 9-23 and 10-24. And then 11 and 12 play 21 and 22 so you can have 11-22 and 12-21 or 11-21 and 12-22. And so it continues. So teams do get paired according to their position in the table, it's just not exact. I don't know why they've done this but my best guess is to make it more exciting, because now we don't yet know if Bayern or Real will get the easy draw against Celtic and the other has to face City. So I think it's just to create more excitement and have another draw, but there could be another reason that I don't know (:
Thought you were hating it a few months ago?? Gonna be chaos in the playoff stage! They still want the seeding to meaning something for the playoff draw.
Honestly... one of the parts I didn't like about this format was the lack of rematches. Buuuut... the playoff round might have some of tbose. Brugge could draw Dortmund. PSV could draw Juventus. If these teams are to face off again... well, the stakes would be far higher in tbat second encounter. And just on the whole, teams are bound to play teams in the knockout phase they already encountered in the league phase. That could be cool. That could be some extra drama.
Maybe I'm one of the only ones but I don't like the new format, even though the last matchday was crazy, but I think 8 matches is to much and for me it wasn't easy to see everything unfold from matchday 1-8. I don't even really know who played against who I just see the final standings.
Pretty interesting how teams from the same country can face each othsr from the start of the knockout round. It used to just be from the quarter finals and onward. Now, PSG will face a french team. And PSV could face Feyenoord and Juventus could face Milan.
Leipzig had BY FAR the hardest lineup of all teams, i dont know after the 8th playday but after the 7th playday leipzig enemies together had 99 points inter mailands enemies together had 45 points .... it was not good i dont say that but they rly god the hardest possible draw of all teams (and then not cared anymore i think against graz)
Then again those simulations were also saying that FCSB in the Europa League will finish 35th with a 4% chance of top 8 and we re literally sitting there right now so simulations aren’t perfect but yeah, I really feel for them. Would be the same for Brugge if they went out too
Sorry, but I’m not feeling the vibe that this new format is producing great tension. Basically you can lose 3, draw 2 and it’s STILL impossible to get knocked out! These many games to eliminate 12 teams isn't really that interesting and apart from Leipzig, the remaining teams that got knocked out were basically straight forward. Even Leipzig had to have a record breaking disastrous run to get eliminated. It’s legitimate to point out the group stages weren’t any better, after MD4 most of the groups were snoozefest. But now we have to sit through another two extra dull games and players get more tired, so the quality of football continues to fall. From a fan perspective, I don't think I can summarise the complete group stage or remember who played whom if you ask me now, it has been a one giant blob. But it was pretty easy to do with the previous format. Maybe the extra KO rounds will be better. After all, it is an actual KO and those are always fun. But I kind of feel fans will get tired of this after the end of next season
The old format was god awful. It was stale for years, they needed to change it drastically. Every year it was the same results. Real Madrid, Bayern, City and PSG were all in trouble at one point during this new format. I can agree that the group stage is probably too many games longthough
No it's not absolute cinema, Club Brugge ruined shit like they always did, they stole Union St. Gilloise's place in the Champions League then they conspired to keep Man City in, brudda if this was cinema then it'd be A Serbian Film. Nothing of note happened, nobody of worth got eliminated. I wish people would stop bullshitting themselves into thinking that this would be any different then any other seasons.
wym no one of note was eliminated? Theres only 8 teams qualified to ro16, the play off still needs to happen...just as an example at least one of Madrid, Bayern and citty will be out of the ro16. People arent bs themselves, their appreciation of the competition is the norm, a more exciting, interesting, fair first stage of the competition, with actual incentives to win every game and score goals... maybe u r the one bs themselves
Cry more, if anyone "conspired" to keep City in it was Inter because they only managed a draw at the ethihad while they are the better team. Club was always the underdog and they weren't sure of their qualification so do you really think they lost on purpose? Don't be stupid.
Yeah Leipzig kinda sucked this season, but I don't understand why you don't do the bare minimum and look at their match-ups?? (A) Athletico Madrid (H) Juventus (H) Liverpool (A) Celtic (A) Inter (H) Aston Villa It was the most difficult lineup of opponents anyone faced in the group-stage and the losses were on close margins. Yes, they should have a win against celtic probably and maybe a draw here and there, but these matchups are brutal. We can ignore the Sturm Graz match because it had no meaning anymore.
Saying Leipzig should beat Celtic is an incredible display of arrogance. Show some respect. Celtic were brilliant in this tournament and really overperformed. 4th highest overperforming team in the competition according to official statistics. RB Leipzig? Well, they certainly underperformed! Celtic had beaten Slovan Bratislava 5-1 and drew away to Atalanta 0-0. Yes the 7-1 loss against Borussia Dortmund is embarassing, but I’d argue the draw against Atalanta was more than impressive enough to balance things out. Why is that you may ask? Celtic did not have Kyogo Furuhashi or Cameron Carter Vickers in that away match against Atalanta, having to field a makeship central defence pairing of Auston Trusty and Liam Scales, and yet they kept a cleansheet against the UEFA Europa League winners. That was the matchday before they played RB Leipzig at Celtic Park, for your information.
@@ch772a Big respect to Celtic for their performance internationally this season. Historically however Celtic is a club that either crashes out in the group stage or doesn't even qualify. So to expect a win from Leipzig is not arrogant, but quite logic. Celtic's team worth is 130m, leipzig's is 520m. Clearly Celtic performed better on paper, but they also had the way way way easier matchups. If you switch matchups between the two teams, the roles would have been reversed. Club Brugge- Belgian Champions. UCL Regulars. Dinamo Zagreb- Easier, but still the Croatian champions. Slovan Bratislava- Admittedly an easy game, which is rare for Celtic - they are usually on the awful end of draws. Young Boys- Racked up lots of UCL experience over recent years, not as bad as people think. Ah yes, such easy fixtures such as UCL Finalists, Semi-Finalists and UEL Winners and Semi-Finalists! Ohohoh such easy games!!! You’ve been sold a false narrative, my friend.
I just noticed... the playoff will have guaranteed American on American violence. Juventus with Weah and McKennie will face either PSV that has Pepi and Ledezma (Dest and Tillman injured) or AC Milan that has Pulisic and Musah by the way Musah will miss the first leg
Why is Benfica winning against Juventus shocking? Juventus haven't been playing well, the defense was basically patched up, plus Juventus has a terrible record against Benfica (9 games, 1 win, 1 draw, 7 losses)
The only interesting part of the league phase was the final gameweek. The whole 7 gameweeks prior were awful, and I didn’t even bother watching many of the games, if any. Having said that, gameweek 8 was brilliant entertainment.
Their best bet would be to play against Bayern Munich, who have dropped points to lesser teams such as Feyenoord and Aston Villa… But hey, money money money am I right? I’m sure Celtic will be happy after pocketing over £30M from this campaign!
well someone in bayern needs to be fired ... fans before counted and saw that if bayern gets a high win they avoid a good enemy and can go easy mode ... with 3 goals mroe they would switch with bvb in the table and get the easy slot and now they maybe get mancity and they ... rested most of their best players like musiala ??? either the coach or someone else is so braindead stupid that it hurts ... like if fans know it a club that will win or lose MILLIONS depending on the qualifier of the next round doesnt care ? vs a team they could EASY beat very high ? what on earth
It's just convoluted and just creates nonsense draws. It's gone from seeded and unseeded to pairings when nobody's played the same fixtures so 11th's record vs 16th's is absolutely meaningless.
Got used to the new format long before it got implemented thanks to football manager. Thought it was gonna go fine but now having experienced it, taking all the european cups together, ucl europa league and conf league... I thought it was awful Zealand. Way too many games at once. I had the goals show xtra on so it was going between games for major incidents, but it is too chaotic and hard to follow imo. This new format is bad cause is not as fair as the old one, you are competing agaist everyone but teams have different opponents...it's more entertaining but I hate that so many teams are on the same points and goals decide the final position. PSG is obviously gonna score less goals cause they got better opponents, and that's not fair. If you get lucky and draw Sparta, Young Boys and Salzsburg...you get an undeserved goals boost.
@@napolean_ragland Last year City competed to qualify against the teams in their group that got the same "luck" as City...so its fair.
Lille or Villa may have got a win or two in that scenario, but they would still probably be finishing bottom in those groups (and miss out on dropping down into the Europa League too)
@@BadgerOff32I also like how teams dont drop down to the Europa league anymore. Out is out.
Dinamo Zagreb getting out with ELEVEN POINTS is craaazyyyy! So unlucky..
This was ANOTHER demonstration that some fans (specially the internet ones) complain too much before even seeing the result, people have to be less traditionalist, we can't always use the same thigns that worked 18 years ago but that now are stalled
Dinamo Zagreb losing to Bayern 9-2 really cost them a lot because they should have went through imo, Sporting do not deserve it
As a Lille OSC fan, that's the best European competition i've ever lived😭
Impressive team honestly with great football, great to see the French league isn't just a Qatar funded team.
This is why I like this new format

Liverpool rested every key player pretty much. We didn’t fumble we just knew we have a lot bigger fish to fry going ahead so finding these games to rest our best players are very rare so we took the opportunity when we could
2-1 up to a 3-2 loss, that's a fumble in my books, regardless of the situation.
@Grookey4Smash Finishing first doesn't look like a fumble. That's like saying: Oooh, that quarterback ran -3 yards on the final drive. Dude, he was kneeling because they were already winning and were thinking about the games coming up.
@Grookey4Smash it was 2-1 for 5 minutes and we didn’t leave 1st gear the entire game
i like this format, and i feel like the table will always be this close because there’s more teams (36) than possible points (24) so you’ll always get teams tied in points and close races that could land you in the top 8 or below 24th in a few games
Loved it! UEFA accidentally creating a new amazing competition (conference league) and a exciting league system was very surprising tbh
What was surprising? Every team you’d expect to progress progressed
@@KylerMalone98 He said it's surprising that UEFA managed to accidentally create an amazing competition and exciting league system, not that the competition itself is surprising
@ but it wasn’t exciting every big team went through unless your counting Leipzig but who cares about them
@@KylerMalone98 City being eliminated at half time isn‘t exciting? Yeah they made it in half two but it‘ far better than the old system
As a Bayern Munich fan, that loss to Feyenoord hurt.
almost as bad as Zealand not running.
Nah. The "only 16 teams qualifies " is a shitty idea if you spend à few seconds thinking about it
i love it too, the old format became a total shiat show & a borefest ,it was time to move on
fun fact : If psv draws Feyenoord they will face each other 3 midweeks in a row
February 5th : PSV - Feyenoord in the quarter finals of the dutch cup

As a celtic fan, glad that we have a chance to get through. But its rotten luck that we have to play Munich or Madrid. But I will be there either way
No you won't
Let's be honest, Football Manager doesn't have the format right at all. The only thing accurate is the number of teams.
How do you mean ?
You can also be happy since they have neo Nazi ultras ^^

And it kept getting interesting as it went on
the UEFA is so totally ruin our chance of getting Dutch v Dutch and Italian v Italian
we need a zealandism on Amara Nallo's red card 3 minutes into his debut
i actually like the new format tbh
Madrid v. City could end up being the 3rd or 4th most watched match of the competition in only the (round of 24?) playoffs.
I think the seeding pots are so teams don't play different to try to get a specific opponent.
yeah I have a good feeling about this format ngl! 🙂😗
Looking at the table, the minimum wins is 5
Maximum losses is 2
Which Bayer Leverkusen, Lille and Aston Villa had.
7:36 really hope "yo bwoy" Pulisic is not gonna do any more magic this weekend in the derby
You’re right that Girona is a one season wonder, but you could’ve briefly mentioned why they’re playing so badly lately. Most of the great players they had last season were bought by bigger clubs 9:51
"buying players"
"selling players"
Both terms, I have striken out my vocabulary!
If it s maximum drama (then again you do get 2 more matches to put together a run of form but no more pot protection, even if you do well at the start there are an untold number of ways the other results can affect your position etc) then sure it s great but if it s fairness it s not really, you don’t play against most of your direct competitors anymore, plus the fact that it is really tough to follow (especially on the final day where they are backloading all the drama too, NOBODY can follow 18 matches at once, we d need a constant live table with instant updates.
Who knows
Given who owns Girona (CITY Football Group) the one season wonder thing is literally their issue. They are ManCity II literally...
It s not like they lost anyone other than Savinho to City iirc though, they added Danjuma too…
0:47 I watched Inter and I was not disappointed
For me there were too many and too chaotic also I could only watch 5 matches live
Thought you were hating it a few months ago?? Gonna be chaos in the playoff stage! They still want the seeding to meaning something for the playoff draw.
15:15 im so sorry for all of the 0 Leipzig fans
RB Leipzig -----> "0 tradition" -----> best shirt of Association Football ever!
Not enough mentioned about Rogers
Honestly... one of the parts I didn't like about this format was the lack of rematches. Buuuut... the playoff round might have some of tbose.
"Liverpool somehow fumbled" ?? 🤔 Did you even see the team they put out ??
Me and my friends were watching on 9 different screens 😂
Maybe I'm one of the only ones but I don't like the new format, even though the last matchday was crazy, but I think 8 matches is to much and for me it wasn't easy to see everything unfold from matchday 1-8. I don't even really know who played against who I just see the final standings.
UCL exposed city damn, but we shouldn’t be surprised fm24 already showed us how peak the new format is
Yeah honestly I'm loving it. I thought it sounded bad and purely a cash grab but it's been really interesting 😁
Pretty interesting how teams from the same country can face each othsr from the start of the knockout round. It used to just be from the quarter finals and onward. Now, PSG will face a french team. And PSV could face Feyenoord and Juventus could face Milan.
I told yall benfica was winning against juventus
Babe wake up, my opinion has arrived.
The problem is while it works on the final day it makes the rest of this stage way less interesting as itsharder to follow
Leipzig had BY FAR the hardest lineup of all teams, i dont know after the 8th playday but after the 7th playday leipzig enemies together had 99 points
inter mailands enemies together had 45 points
.... it was not good i dont say that but they rly god the hardest possible draw of all teams (and then not cared anymore i think against graz)
This Champions League is absolute garbage.
You're fragile
@MonTube2006 nah, I just like good football. Which this is not. But hey, gobble down UEFA, we all know how much they care about you as Fan :)
Based on simulations l, 99% of the time 11 points are enough to get to the knockouts so Zagreb was very unlucky to not make the playoffs.
Then again those simulations were also saying that FCSB in the Europa League will finish 35th with a 4% chance of top 8 and we re literally sitting there right now so simulations aren’t perfect but yeah, I really feel for them. Would be the same for Brugge if they went out too
It's Dinamo not Zagreb. Zagreb is a fourth tier team that was once a first tier team that actually won the title being led by Ivica Olić
No views in 35 seconds? Damn, we fell off
Understated story of the night: Ac Milan lose also let villa sneak into 8th as Lille won 6-1 rocketing themselves up the league into top 8

It was the most difficult lineup of opponents anyone faced in the group-stage and the losses were on close margins.

Big respect to Celtic for their performance internationally this season.
Despite Celtic making it to the Ro32, they are still cannon-fodder in the Champions League.

As for the easier matchups - this narrative is getting tiresome. Think of something new to explain Celtic’s success without giving them the deserved credit, please!
Borussia Dortmund- 23/24 UEFA Champions League Finalists
RB Leipzig- Consistently in the latter rounds of the UEFA Champions League, 21/22 UEFA Europa League Semi-Finalists (lost to Rangers, ironic that), currently 5th and recently 3rd in the Bundesliga
Atalanta- 23/24 UEFA Europa League Winners
Aston Villa- One of the richest teams in the competition by virtue of the English Premier League.

Why is Benfica winning against Juventus shocking? Juventus haven't been playing well, the defense was basically patched up, plus Juventus has a terrible record against Benfica (9 games, 1 win, 1 draw, 7 losses)

Poor Celtic. They are screwed regardless. Their best bet is to play Real Madrid and let Vini get a red card so he doesn't play the next game
Their best bet would be to play against Bayern Munich, who have dropped points to lesser teams such as Feyenoord and Aston Villa…

Hey man! Look, not trying to impose or anything, but it's the 30th of January. You're a talented entertainer, communicator and content creator, and you've branched out since the older days... but your career started and was built upon a videogame that is 30 hours away from failing to deliver a release date as promised after two delays, with the roadmap of announcements that was once up now removed from the article. Then you dont have any incentive finishing 9 or 10, you might as well just finish 15 or 16 then
this makes no sense at all.
Wasn’t a fan, need the old format back. No chaos at all every big team made it to the next round
Exactly, I don't get why people are gassing something that hasn't changed. They should at least have played it during the Christmas Break, waiting until Man City are good again before resuming is pants. It's just boring, oh wow! Man City could've got eliminated but they didn't. OH MY GOD YOU GUYS THIS IS A FANTASTIC GROUNDBREAKING EVENT, HOLY SHIT, AC MILAN QUALIFIED, LIVERPOOL QUALIFIED, MAN CITY, REAL MADRID, PSG, BARCELONA, ARSENAL, BAYERN MUNICH, INTERNAZIONALE ALL QUALIFIED HOLY SHIT, THIS IS SO MUCH MORE DIFFERENT THEN THE LAST FEW THOUSAND CHAMPIONS LEAGUES. gag me with a spoon.
Its just the same, whether its a group of 4 or a group of 8 its all seeded. Last season when city got red star and young boys, that was fair then?
@@napolean_ragland Last year City competed to qualify against the teams in their group that got the same "luck" as City...so its fair. Maybe barça does not get top 8 if they had PSG/City opponents. 2 years ago Barça got eliminated in the previous format against Inter and Bayern but Inter and Bayern had the same opponents as Barça, the same group, same opportunities, home and away.
Terrible format
