  • The floorpan swap is finally done! Already finished the rear end installation and have the interior back together as well! Car is nearing completion at this point. All that's left is a little bit of front suspension work and to build the engine and swap it in with the Evo transmission and tcase and little projects like the driveshaft and headliner and such. After that, all that's left is to do the front end conversion and bodywork and it's all done!

      This is the port installed factory option sunroof that the USDM Mirage got here in the US. There's a little more info on the parts I picked on the facebook page for the car if you search Project 2dr IV!

    Did you retain your rear mirage coilovers or did you change it to the iv?

    • @AlchEm1st88
      @AlchEm1st88  2 місяці тому +1

      @meowtrox1234 I still have the Mirage rear strut towers in the car, but I am using Evo IV coilovers. The only thing to keep in mind is the Mirage strut towers change the ride height a little bit, but that's a simple adjustment on the coilovers. If you used stock Evo IV struts and springs you'd have about an inch higher ride height in the rear with Mirage rear towers. Also, as a side note I am still running the same Fortune Auto coilovers from this video however many years later it's been and they are still awesome! Definitely a good investment!

      @@AlchEm1st88 thanks i'm worried that the mirage strut towers won't fit the evo iv coilovers. That's a relief to hear! . I don't mind having a stock oem height on my current project . Reading your reply bestowed peace of mind. Heaps a thanks to you and best of luck!

    sir I need some enlightening here.., the rear end lined up perfectly or you had to do some adjustments? cause I know its just to cut the old floorpan send the new one in but did it line up perfect of one side higher than the next?

      @AlchEm1st88  7 років тому +1

      The Evo 4-6 frame rails are identical in dimensions to the 97-02 Mirage rails. It should slot right in where the old pan was.

      AlchEm1st88 okay well its me again from last year I believe.. I'm looking to start to source parts to turn out lancer to and evo so I wanna make sure I get the "exact" parts so to say ,, I know trial and error is part of it but I want to not have to have an error and idk if you remember we have a lancer and if it were an evo it would of been the 6 and well I'm asking again , the floorpan of a 6 will fit ours right., I mean it will viase same rear suspension setup just its FWD bit I like to over think and mess up

    • @AlchEm1st88
      @AlchEm1st88  7 років тому

      There shouldn't be too much trial and error; just a lot of fabrication type work. Yes; if it's a 5th gen car then that pan will work fine. Just make sure to use an Evo 5-9 rear end with a 5-9 floor. The 4 floor and rear end is different. (Not all of it; but some of it is)

    • @nicholasram8235
      @nicholasram8235 7 років тому

      AlchEm1st88 rear end is what you also call back halfcut?

    • @AlchEm1st88
      @AlchEm1st88  7 років тому +1

      No, the rear end would consist of the rear subframe, control arms, diff, halfshafts, etc. The floorpan would be the back half cut. Usually they don't include the rear end when you buy a floorpan; but sometimes you can get them together. Just depends where you buy from.

    I want to convert a 1994 mirage into an colt cyborg r 8) awd and 4g63t ;)

    • @AlchEm1st88
      @AlchEm1st88  9 років тому +1

      Do it man! It's not hard to 4G63T swap a 4G Mirage. EASY job. Awd is a bit more work, but not as hard as what I did swapping floorpans.
      Use Evo 1-3 rear trailing arms and an Evo 1-3 subframe, clearance the trunk floor, and bolt up a DSM differential and axles and you're done!
      (sounds easy, it's a fair amount of work)

    • @mooreAveCrew
      @mooreAveCrew 9 років тому

      Sounds easy lol. And I can't seem to find a hatch anywhere :( I want to do the hatchback.

    • @mooreAveCrew
      @mooreAveCrew 9 років тому

      I guess hatches aren't available in the us :/ might have to get one from Canada lol

    • @AlchEm1st88
      @AlchEm1st88  9 років тому

      Legendary Livez Yep, was gonna say that. Never sold them here sadly. You could bring one in from Canada, but you'd have to do some underhanded stuff to be able to drive it on the street. I don't recommend it as the government can seize and crush your car. Much easier (and legal) to just do a coupe or sedan.

      Even if it's just a shell? And if I put a U.S. emissions controlled 4g63t engine in it :( I wanted to stand out haha. I've been thinking of doing a 1998 mirage 4dr sedan into evo V, I love the evo v look. Full awd conversion too. I'm up for the challenge.
