    The build is coming along nicely! Hopefully we'll be able to see it within the next couple years. Looking like we'll be moving to the Lynchburg, VA area in 2015. Not too far away from where Jacob is.

    I remember wanting to do this with a 5th gen sedan over a decade ago---Back when CN/CP Evos weren't legal to import here in the US, but I was so fixated (and still fixated) with my Volvo.
    Now, I'm strongly reconsidering this with a coupe because, I mean, regardless of getting a JDM Evo or convert a Mirage, the whole thing will be torn apart to get it the way I want it. Plus, I like the fact that the coupe is smaller.
    Just a matter of finding one---let alone a coupe that isn't rusted to shite here in the Midwest. XD

    It's still ongoing. I am repairing the frame rails on my Evo floorpan and it should be AWD swapped this Summer. The rest of the rear end is already fully built. (you can see it in my other vids) As for the engine I still need to buy pistons and rods and then I'll start building the head. Picked up a PTE6262 turbo a few weeks ago for the build. The rest of the bodywork I will do after the engine and driveline are finished. Don't want them to get scratched up with fresh paint! Thanks for looking!

    that climate control surround, I would take it off, sand it and paint it body color... once the conversion is done. (Assuming you using the Evo 4 front end as well and having the car repainted in something brighter than silver, black, gray, or white). I did something similar with the radio surround bezel in my Saturn and it gets compliments often.

    Yeah, I'm going to do something with it eventually. I've been considering hydrographing it. I think it would look really cool.

    I find it adds a splash of color and brightens up an otherwise dull interior. My Saturn's bright red so it's noticeable on the interior. My Z34 has wood grain so I associate woodgrain with granny cars. (The Z34 is a white 1995 Chevy Monte Carlo Z34 I inherited from my mother)

    These cars have a lot of potential! You just need the right parts to realize it. The 4G93 is a very potent engine and you can see some pretty crazy results with the right turbo setup! I you want to go crazy there are a lot of good swap options too! Also, a set of coilovers and a front (if yours didn't have one stock) and rear swaybar make a night and day difference to the handling. We even have the awd conversions pretty well documented; just hit up Mirageforums.

  • @AlchEm1st88
    @AlchEm1st88  11 років тому

    Yep, still going strong! Interior is all but finished now and after Mitsubishi Owners Day in September the floor is getting replaced with the AWD one! It's nearly ready to begin the swap now!

    I got it from an importer called JDMCandyShop; but they don't exist anymore. Very hard to get ahold of!

  • @AlchEm1st88
    @AlchEm1st88  11 років тому

    Yeah! I want to move down there myself, but the payment on the WRX is what's stopping me. I think I'd have a hard time finding a job that pays as much as my current job does and I couldn't afford a house payment and the WRX even with my current pay. Thankfully the WRX is my only debt though so I COULD sell it if it came down to it and have no obligations. :)

    So you're not a fan of the woodgrain? I was hoping to fool people into thinking it was a grandma car...LOL
    Yeah, I have the Evo 4 front end but I may keep the car silver once it's together. Been painting bits a piece at a time before installation. I actually like the silver as it hides dirt well. Actually getting ready to start painting the trunk and wing soon and then I can bolt it up.

    Five lug swap looks good. Why didn't you do this Evo conversion on the 4 door Mirage instead of two? Front end looks like an older mirage 94

    • @AlchEm1st88
      @AlchEm1st88  8 років тому +1

      Because I wanted something unique. In a few years these Evo's will be available for import into the US and there would be no point in this conversion anymore. With a coupe the conversion will remain extremely rare.

    Was the Evo rear bumper a direct bolt on? Planning to do the same with mine.

    • @AlchEm1st88
      @AlchEm1st88  3 роки тому

      Pretty close. You may have to trim some things like the bracket for the charcoal canister if you have the rear mounted version, but otherwise yeah.

    Hey a have 99 mirage coupe and can't tell me what can muffle is better

    • @AlchEm1st88
      @AlchEm1st88  10 років тому

      Muffler doesn't really matter much. The diameter of the exhaust is what's important. I went with a 2.5in diameter stainless pipe on mine, but that's bigger than the 1.8 really needs. If you're sticking with the 1.5L or 1.8L engine then go with a 2.25in exhaust. If you're swapping to a different engine then the size needs to be adjusted according to the engine you want to swap into the car.

    how you can convert from 4 lug into 5 lug?

  • @AlchEm1st88
    @AlchEm1st88  11 років тому

    Thanks man! Both the 1.5 and 1.8 use the same axles. I use the nice of each and have the others set aside in case I break on or a CV goes bad. What's your username?

    When are you going to upload more videos of this Mirage project?

    • @AlchEm1st88
      @AlchEm1st88  10 років тому +1

      Hopefully soon! It's been put away for the Winter season as I don't have a garage to work in at the moment. I just bought 300lbs of sandblasting media to begin the floor swap though AND I just hit 100 subscribers so another vid is definitely in order! Should be able to begin the awd conversion soon! Just need to clear all the junk out of our garage so I can get my car back in lol.

    Did you have any problems with the Ebay headers because it deletes the use of one of the O2 sensors?

    • @AlchEm1st88
      @AlchEm1st88  10 років тому

      I didn't lose an o2. Sounds like you have a 97? 98+ had one o2 sensor on the manifold and one after the catalytic vs both on the manifold if I'm not mistaken.

    • @AlchEm1st88
      @AlchEm1st88  9 років тому

      They pop up on ebay every once in a while. They came on the Chinese model Lancers. Took months of waiting to get this one.

    • @JuanGonzalez-nh8qs
      @JuanGonzalez-nh8qs 9 років тому

      You are a very lucky and patient Guy.The Chinesse Lancers models name is Lioncel.I got the rear tail lamps from the Last model of the Lioncel.But I preffer the Evo 4 to 6 rear tail lamps.I want to preserve the Original look.See you soon with a couple of questions about the Evo climate control instalation.I already saw your video explain it.Exelent job my friend...You got a gift.

    • @AlchEm1st88
      @AlchEm1st88  9 років тому

      +JOHN S Haha thanks. Not so patient all the time though lol! Ah yes, you're right. It's been so long since I looked up info on the Chinese version I couldn't remember it's name. Trading someone on Mirageforums your Lioncel tail lights for a set of Evo 4 tail lights shouldn't be too difficult. Those guys love rare parts and those tails don't pop up everyday. Yeah, any questions you have I'll do my best to answer! Thanks for watching!

      MrSolidtiger Haha I have to see this project through to the end; but I might be willing to sell it once I've gotten to drive it for a bit and had some fun with it! My next project will be a house and I could probably sell this, buy a clean R32 GT-R, and have a nice chunk for the down payment.
