  • This shows the removal of the shifter assembly after we drained/lifted off the rear hydraulic lift arm assembly on the international 444. We were stuck in between gears again. So we only had reverse. It’s terrible to fix. We ground off about a 1/4” of the one shifter fork to give us more play so the gears wouldn’t get crossed up. That worked for about a year now so that’s the longest w/o the gear problem. We also spotted out the holes in the shifter assembly so they could sit forward just a little more for more clearance.
Terrible design as you have to remove the top to get it fixed. A couple of time we were able to sneak the shifter assembly up to get all back in alignment. One time didn’t work out for that well when I snapped a shifter top case.
When you have the rear case off make it easier on yourself and at the rear tractor case corners grind it down a little at an angle on the outer half of the corner. This will make it easier to get the case split off the next time.

Good day Interesting video. So were is high & low range on this, or is it in front gear case? Thanks

Dan Voll thanks. There is only one transmission case. There are two shafts. Upper and lower. If I remember correctly the large long front fork goes to the bottom shaft for high/low range.

It is for sure the large front fork and it is a gear on the bottom shaft at the front. I just dug out and looked at my old shifter top case assembly.
