      When you get chance pull the shift cover and check the top shaft for wiggle, could be loose bearings causing it to sag and binding the 3-4 sliding gear from engaging.

    Great presentation indeed. It's so helpful. I am a new owner of a 450 and looks like they have the same arrangement with 414. Just want to know if gearbox and differential share the same oil after topping up from gearbox filler port, and how many liters does it take

      An IH 450 is quite a different tractor though the transmission and differential do share a case and the oil is shared so you can fill from the one plug. Not sure how much oil it takes.

    Good day Interesting video. I saw a spindle, I think 414 front wheel bearings fit 574? Those gears seemed big for 35 hp? How do you keep gears from rusting now. If you ever strip another tractor record if possible. It looks like weather is basically same all over, getting colder. Thanks fo r now

    • @CanadianRedneck15
      @CanadianRedneck15  5 років тому

      Thank you, I am glad you enjoyed the video. The 574 has a quite a bit larger spindle than a 414 so the bearings don't fit. The transmissions in these tractors are quite sturdy, damage mainly occurs from operators that don't know how to shift an unsynchronized transmission. We try to leave the gears a little oily and then juststore them inside to prevent rust, they may get a little surface rust but nothing that would cause any real harm. Winter is definitely right around the corner. Thanks for watching!

    • @CanadianRedneck15

      Check through the inspection cover for any broken levers on the pressure plate, if any are broken the clutch will need replaced. If nothing is broken you can try starting it in gear where you have some space to drive, stand on the clutch pedal and jump on the brakes repeatedly, it might break it free.

    i have the industrial loader version of this tractor a 3434.,,well mine is a very late 1982 based on the 434..it will be time consuming to split as the loader frame and cab is built around the tractor ..the bearing race in the reverse idler has collapsed ..the tractor is new to me and reverse seams'' fine ..its been like it for some time as there is no shrapnel in the bottom of the gerar box so someone has cleaned it out and not fixed it i only noticed when i was replacing the top gasket..from previous experience with a 3434 years ago when this baring collapses the needles from the bearing mixes with the oil and bang and ping about when they jam with the gear teeth...the diff cover is easy to remove on the industrial tractor as it only holds the seat in place so easy to get to the snap ring so what i am asking do you think there is enough room to remove the reverse idler and fit a new bearing with out splitting the tractor and dismantling ??? thanks dave
