- The harrowing moment which witnesses say sparked the Leeds riot shows a young boy being hauled from his home and bundled into a police van.
Hundreds of thugs wreaked havoc in the suburb of Harehills last night - torching a bus and flipping a police car.
The riot is said to have started after cops scrambled to a "disturbance" involving some agency workers and children at 5pm.
Chaos broke out after the kids were forcibly removed from their parents and taken into care, it is claimed.

Those guys seem to be from the Roma comunitty because in their culture beating and sometimes abusing your kids is considered "normal" (I said normal because there are limits too in their culture).
But from what I seen in some interviews with locals who know the familly who had their kids taken, the problem was that one bigger kid was tasked with carryng the todler and it was accidentally dropped (negligence behavior from another kid). The todler was sent to the hospital and seeing the bad injure the doctors believed it was created from abuse and alerted the social services who had to do their job and take the kids from the family as it was deemed to be "not capable of raising them appropiately".
This started the war because most of the local migrants from Leeds hate the social services and Law Enforcement and things went downhill from there.

Whenever I see film on the media of the dreadful fighting in the second world war, I get so angry with what our Country has become after so many died or were maimed trying to save (Europe and) the UK to be a free place to live and bring up a family, and like you, I despair at their wasted sacrifice ! I'm afraid that the situation in the UK will continue to deteriorate for quite some time to come. Being selfish, because of my age, I won't have to suffer the state our Country has sunk too for much longer, but I'm now wishing that, in some ways, I didn't have Grandchildren, because I dread to think what their lives wil be like as they grow older !!!

I used to live down the road from this area, and the community complained that the council and Police made little effort towards community relations, and this is a prime example, and unfortunately because many of the Harehills residents are not from the UK, they refuse to integrate within the community, and complain that Brits dont accept them, and this is why. It's a shame really

@@nemesisone8927 They left their 17month baby at home alone with other young siblings too young to be home alone, the baby got dropped on the head, and was in hospital, and the parents were trying to flee to Romania with the other kids... this was mentioned in other comments already. Btw it's illegal in the UK to leave babies and toddlers home unsupervised for any length of time, and it's illegal to leave kids below 12 on their own for longer periods, and people can be prosecuted for injuries or suffering that happens as a result, so yes by UK law they were abusing their children and trying to avoid the consequences.

Well, I am a Romanian and it seems everything started with a family of Romanian rroma. In 1997 I was working for the Romanian Government and I had to meet a delegation of the EU Parliament concerned about how we handle the rights of the minorities, especially the rights of the rroma. They were all very understanding and reasonable, except a lady from the United Kingdom that was not convinced by the progress made. She pointed to nomad rromas, that were already almost gone, settled. She asked how are they getting social benefits if they are wondering the country without any permanent address and sometimes ID papers. We said we don't know, so she kept criticizing us until her colleagues diplomatically asked her to stop.
About the same time we enforced the interdiction of marriage before the age of 16 for roma girls and we have been harshly criticized by people with the same mindset as the British member of the EU Parliament. Maybe you can do better with them, than we did, now that they are in your country.

I went to school with a couple of kids from the same family who were quite horribly abused but both of them thought the child protection service (very nice, kind people actually) were the enemy. They were completely brainwashed by their abusive parents and knew no other life.

But you should let the police enforce the law no matter what. Because you don't know if the child is abused or not. The police have legal procedures to take the child away. If they did something wrong or something. You should go to court instead of rioting.

So apparently one of the children in that house had been defenestrated, so the Social Services rightly took the other children into care for safeguarding, but the local community were very angry about that ( for some unknown reason).
Now, let's imagine that the police and Social Services DIDN'T go in and remove the children from that house, and 3 weeks later one of the children had come to serious harm, then without a doubt there would be cries of "Why didn't the police and socual services do something?".
We saw this with Baby P,, Victoria Klimbie, snd others, and authorities were instructed to be preemptive snd proactive withbregards to child safety. Now when they DO go in to prevent harm, the community attack them.
Damned either way.
