(magnesium burns so bright it can cause temporary blindness & permanent damage) I put some on the hood of an old abandoned car. It burned through the hood, the entire engine block, and melted the concrete under it! Again, NASTY!

It's not really a "Robot". It's just a type of UAV and requires an operator/"pilot". The biggest advantage over fighter jets & attack helicopters is the cost, availability, and decreased time needed to train operators vs pilots. Pilots require YEARS of training vs weeks for drones.

Drones are just UAVs, and UAVs have been around for decades. Drones are just cheaper, more widely available, have less speed, height, & payload. Necessity will see the fielding of anti-drone weapons. (multiple systems are currently being tested) Microwave weapons are extremely promising.

1 thing to remember is that like tanks, airplanes, and helicopters, drones still need someone to operate each & every one. And smaller drones don't have a long range, so operators would potentially be in harms way. (in other words, you can't have 1,000s of 13yo-15yo kids sitting safely in Kiev & spamming drones. Smaller drones lack the range)
It's bizarre that a country that's been given so many billions in aid is showing off a contraption that the average drone enthusiast could knock up in a weekend given access to the parts. Colin Furze made some great videos involving Thermite.
I think it's because the drones are so cheap & higher tech weapons are more expensive. Why risk using & losing an F-16 if a drone will do? But expensive planes, armor, & artillery are still needed to achieve a break through & deep penetration. Maybe Ukraine is using drones to wear Russia down & saving the expensive high tech weapons for a later counteroffensive?

(weight = 4lbs each) You could get so creative with drones. There are multiple anti-drone weapons under development, in testing, and in production. They will decrease the threat of drones, but never eliminate them. Anti-drone systems will be expensive, and there will never be enough to protect EVERYTHING & offset the enormous number of drones. Currently we have "Suppression of Air Defenses" to clear the way for attack helicopters. I predict that in the future, anti-drone weapons will be high value targets & "Suppression of Drone Defenses" will become a thing. The future of drone defense will be layering. Microwave weapons + missiles + guns + jamming. But no matter what, some drones will always get through.
