I saw The Culture Club/B-52s/Tom Bailey tour in the US 3 times (FOR TOM) and it was spectacular! Now, I have tickets to see him and Thomas Dolby as part of the Totally Tubular Tour - so happy to see him tour any way, any time! :) The music was amazing then and totally holds up to this day!

Into the Gap (LP and song) is/are a masterpiece! Most ardent fans would enjoy hearing live the LP in its entirety. Most unfortunate the fans will never again see the trio (that being Tom, Alannah and Joe) perform live.
As a teen growing up in the US most kids didn't even know who the Thompson Twins were. My circle of friends loved their music. I could hear the layers of the song with each instrument. The Thompson Twins were and are a cut above the rest and deserved more love in the US.
Tom should play Roll Over as a surprise track - it was voted Thompson Twins best song by Facenbook fans. And it wasn't even released! Great interview, btw!
Absurdly underrated. You mentioned Talking Heads; I loved Talking Heads, but I like TT better. More consistently unique, with a deeper range of hits, IMHO.
Enjoyed the interview. The host knows his stuff. I remember in spring '84, when two of the more hip, bohemian students at school put the newly-minted Doctor Doctor single on the ancient dansette style record player in the art room one break time. It sounded intriguing: strange but good. The song still sounds as box-fresh as it did then. Great band.

And we heard rumour of that other working arrangement and were also calling it the Tom Tom Tom Tom Club Tour several years ago.... Good to hear that Tom confirm it was something that was in the works, even if it never came to fruition...
I believe the only Into the Gap track that was never played was Who Can Stop the Rain. No Peace for the Wicked, Day After Day and Storm on The Sea were all played during the Into the Gap Tour.
@@babbletwins Believe you are correct. I think Storm on the Sea was swapped out for one of the other album tracks during different dates. I was just watching the Live in Japan youtube video where SOTS was played and it really just didn't work well.
@@babbletwins And I was speaking more holistically, tracks that had never ever been performed and I believe that WCSTR is the only one from the album that fits that bill.
@@sak4aak It's definitely a more somber song, but it should give Tom a break from the other more taxing songs... If he's going to perform 90+ minutes (hope for 105), and his voice hasn't been the same since he recovered, he'll need songs like these, or focus on the instrumentals...

I wish MTV and VH1 would start showing music videos again. Music would benefit and more singers and bands would be discovered. UA-cam is not enough.
Well in the UK, on Freeview we have BBCFour, The Great 80's, So 80's channels that show music videos!

@@babbletwins I love the song. Something about how the vocals were out of time with the music was weird. Nothing else on that tour had that issue.
The best songs by the Thompson Twins were not their hits. The non-hits are timeless.
