We have some really good players that live in Reno Nv but it is really cool to see how many new players there are. I only play pickup now due to having both hips replaced and I'm 61. When these new players come out to pickup it's really frustrating but i get it they're trying to learn.
For some players, it's the first time playing in a hockey situation or they are getting back to playing after many years. They are just trying to find their comfort zone.
The reason for this is because they are not comfortable exploding off their toes meaning they only have one gear. They only take strides not steps. Pretty much they can’t move their feet fast enough to get them moving quicker because they aren’t used to being in skates
I started playing at 23 but took 3 years off because of Covid and didn’t join a league again until recently. I’m 28 now and have played in numerous divisions but none are as fun as the rookie leagues. The higher you get the less fun it becomes because people take it way too serious and try to hurt you sometimes. Kinda ridiculous. On a side note, 15 black has definitely played before. He’s probably doing beginner league to boost his ego😂
Thanks for watching! You are right about the higher you get the more serious the players become. I tell my new players this all the time. "Enjoy the beginner league while you can because as you move up it will get more serious". We are currently rebuilding the beginner program so we allow some upper players to play as walk-ons. Their primary role is to assist the newbies on the ice and on the bench.
Sorry for the color changes and shaky video. I think it's time for a new GoPro. Hope you still watch and enjoy it!
why ya keep saying #15 black, white jersey white socks etc?
Taking mental notes for when I do the player rankings.
@@AdultBeginnerHockeyClub so who was the best?
@@batmancollects4491 That information is only shared with the rinks hockey director.
This is awesome. I started d league hockey @ 33 yrs old. Loving it. 3 goals so far !
That is awesome! Keep scoring those goals!
Nice, way to go !
As a 32 year old looking to start next season, that is encouraging 😂

Really great to see new people trying out this great sport in their adult years!
We average 20-25 new players each season.

Man, it's so refreshing to see this. I'm 32 and just started learning how to skate. Hopefully I can hit the ice for Hockey sooner rather than later xD
Practice skating and join a Beginner Hockey Clinic. When you feel comfortable join a Beginner League. You will have a great time and make new friends!
Enjoyed watching this. After 40 yrs since I last played, I’m joining a league. I am so looking forward to it. 🇨🇦
Did you join a league? Doesn't take long before finding your skills again.
@@AdultBeginnerHockeyClub yes, I did join a league. Loving it, first line centre. I guess skills do come back . 😅

"got to wear a cup man"... lol i don't care what level you're playing at, wear a f-ing cup, especially in a beginner's league!
Totally agree! Cup and a mouthpiece. You would not believe how many players will not wear or forget these two items.
He was wearing one but sometimes it gets ya just right lol.
