Coach Jeremy - The Hockey Movement congrats on 100k subs and I started at seven and now I'm thirteen!
i started when i was 8
Coach Jeremy - The Hockey Movement
iam playing for 5 years now and iam 13 years old
I just started in November and I'm 30, totally loving it even though I suck. I could barely skate and now i can crossover and go backwards, practice everyday! These videos really helped me a lot, thanks Jeremy! Everyone at the local rinks are good and can do laps around me but when I get the puck everyone respectfully slows down haha. I really respect the good sportsmanship by everyone playing this sport, I've yet to met a single person out there that was an a-hole.
Started playing when I was about 22 years old. I always knew how to skate but not good. My son at the time was 4yo and already wanted to become a "Boston Bruin" so we grabbed some gear, signed him up and in the process I grabbed a new pair of skates. I helped coach him in his learn to skate classes which has translated into me becoming an asst coach for his first in-house hockey teach when he was 6-7yo. Now he is 10yo a second year squirt and it will be my second consecutive year as a head coach for hockey and my 2nd year of also playing organized hockey.
It's pretty cool that I have grown with my oldest son in this sport we both love and literally just last night I told him my biggest regret is that I didn't play when I was his age. But Now I get to coach him and his younger brother who will be playing on his first team next season and we will probably have to rent a cot at the rink cause we'll be down there 5 out of 7 days a week come September lol.
Your never to old to play and as your video highlights, these "old" guys still wheel that puck around and sometimes can do it better than high school and college players lol.
Mom never let me play... but now I live in a different state, have my own job, and a wife...You know what that means... lets play hockey!
I was honestly expecting you would say "now my wife dont let me play"
That's awesome. Same situation for me...along with golf. Need my time with the boyz and wifey understands that...
And I’m eleven and have won state twice😅
I am 35 and have never stepped on the ice in full gear. That will change when in 2 weeks since I have signed up for an Adult beginner skills clinic. Super excited to finally live my dream of being on the ice. It will be hard, and I will stink at it, but I will improve and will love every stinking minute of it.
Good for you. Enjoy this beautiful game !!
That first day I can guarantee will be one of the best days of your life. Unless you get run hard into the boards.... in which case it'll be THE best day of your life.
Mechwd Gaming good luck bro im young but all i can say is believe and u got this
Mechwd Gaming hey - it's probably gonna be hard and frustrating... at first. But STICK WITH IT! It is worth it. It's gonna be awesome!!!!!
Congrats man. I wish I could try it but I live in the Arizona Desert and the nearest rink to me is a good 2 hour drive and doesn't do things like this. Have fun and keep with it.
I wish I lived in a place where hockey is the main sport.
Make that wish a reality.
I quit my job three years ago to move to Prague, Czech Republic. I am on the ice seven days a week.
I just started hockey a few weeks ago and I’m 15 is it possible for me to go professional or nah?
archi l you have to practice every single day and once youre good you have to be noticed somehow. So pretty much dont give up and DO NOT SKIP TRAINING and yeah then maybe you have a chance
Laflame thank you so much mate
Go to Montreal. Beautiful city and great fans.
The fastest skater I've played with in beer league was in his fifties and the two best players I've played with were women. Hockey is the best sport for everyone.
I'm 57 and have been playing for a few months now. I started because my granddaughter plays and I wanted to be involved in that. We took her to her first minor league hockey game when she was less than a week old, so it's a family tradition.
I’m 48 and I skated 1 day. Hope to play as soon as I can
She's less than a week old, idiot.
@@shanemilehi did you end up playing? if so how is it?
I stared playing at 15, I know very late, and I had a dream of playing college hockey but it seemed almost impossible. My first year I played only house league, second year I played house and high school and this past year I played upper a travel hockey and high school (my senior year) I now am on track to be playing competitively in D3 college hockey in Pittsburgh area. From experience I know it's never too late! It will require a lot of hard work but it will work out. Hockey is for everyone.
Kuzyy Good luck I bet you will do good
im just starting at 14, people all over tell me its to late and that i should just give up thanks to this comment and this video IM NOT GIVING UP!!
Kuzyy I want to start but clubs around my town in the UK have a under 13 year old deadline and I'm 14. If only I wanted to do it 2 years ago. There is possibly one in Guildford but that is a 30mim drive which my mum doesn't want to do. I'm literally stuck.
Im 15 trying to start
Love the discipline and hard work man ... congrats!
See this and being 16 wanting to start hockey encourages me even more 🤟🏽🏒
how’s it goin?
i started as a kid and moved to vegas and got to start playing again at 15, i am now 16 turning 17 soon and hockey is the one thing that encourages me to do good
Awesome cool to see more women in hockey!
Hockey is the greatest sport ever and great video!
I was 20 when I started playing. Only regret is that I haven't been playing my entire life
MTGScrub Same, except I'm 18, and I've been playing for about a year and a half.
MTGScrub I'm about to be 18 and I live in Florida and it's the hardest to find a rink to play in, I want to play so bad
lil toro I get the same problem with suitable clubs around the U.K.
I’ve been playing since I was seven(I’m 11 rn) and I have the same regret I wish I started at the youngest age I could
Started at age 44 (this past year). Even with bad hips, I am having the time of my life when I get on the ice.
i started at 50 never skated before love it
Hi Jeremy. This video came in the right moment to me. I even said to my wife that it seems that you are talking directly to me. I'm 34 and have been learning how to skate since January. I'm now in the process of buying the equipment to join a rec team and play hockey for the first time. Many thanks for your video, it really inspired me.
Any updates!?
Thank you for this video! I am a 50 year old woman and finally, this year, was able to participate in a "give hockey a try" session with full gear. OH MY GOSH! What a blast it was. I am so excited to get geared up and play this winter. I have been watching your videos and trying to educate myself about the gear. Once I get my gear, I will start watching all of your skills videos. Thanks!
I am 27 and never laced up a hockey skate til last year. Im now getting certified as a referee. Sometimes your mind is your biggest obstacle. Get out there and do it. Dont get intimidated by the more experienced guys, and in my experience, theyre really ready to help you out. This channel was a big help as well teaching some fundamentals about skating. Its all for love of the sport. Its a great game, guys. You want in, lace up some skates and join us.
This is the most inspiring video I've seen in years. Just a bunch of guys enjoying the game. It's just so pure, its amazing.
I’m 32 years old and I watched my 55 year old father-in-law play a game in his beer league right before I left for deployment.. picking up my first pair of skates on my way home from deployment soon. Absolutely ecstatic to learn!
That's amazing! Yet another reason why I love Hockey
How did it go ?
@@Sam-xu3xq amazing!!! Played in 2 leagues at the same time, helped coach little kids, and brought my own kids along to make one more reason to be at the rink every chance I got. We relocated to Maryland now.
Finally started playing at 45. Been playing for nearly 5 years. I know I'll never be great, but love it. And winning a few beer league championships with the greatest teammates ever helps.
Thanks for the inspiring video! I'm learning to skate as 41 year old, it's really nice to go skating with my young daughter. There's a mixed social group nearby, so when my skate skills get better, I will try to join.
I just started playing last year and I was 44 years old. Your videos helped me lots. Love this last video cuz I play with some retired guys who can run circles with most youngsters...lol. Keep up the good work Jeremy!
I play with an 83 year old defenceman in pickup. Hes slow as hell but man, his hands are incredible. Amazing patience, too.
lmao shut up kid ur name is gay ass hitler
56 years old just started, ten games in . Went from barley staying on my feet to actually having a tone of fun . Thanks Jeremy for the videos. Greatly appreciated.
I started playing hockey when I was 31 and I am currently 33. I really look forward to doing what these gentlemen are doing in their 60's. Great video Jeremy!
I'm 48 and just signed up for an 11 week clinic. It's been almost 35 years since I last played some pond hockey or street hockey with my cousins. Skated with the family a couple weeks ago and it stirred something. Time to answer the call. It's never too late.
46 and started playing 3 years ago, had to learn to skate and then joined a Rookie league and now I play once a week. Decided that was not enough ice time so I got my referee certification and now I am officiating a couple of games a week as well. Love being on the ice and can't get enough of it.
I love the sense of humor and fun of these guys! I'm 36 and just completed my FIRST YEAR of SLED hockey (an adaptive sport) and fell in love. 2nd in the nation with AZ Coyotes Sled Hockey Team! Thanks coach.
Jeremy, love what you are doing for the sport. As a professional alpine coach I crossed over 4 years ago at age 53, barely able to skate found a beer league, playing with guys and gals aged 14 to 75. I've worked hard on my skating with help from videos like yours and taken coaching Canada certification. I'm now coaching Atom level players. So don't let age ever stop you. The community will always help if you ask for it.
This is awesome ... I am 40 years old and watching this video actually got me thinking about playing ice hockey. I've played roller hockey since I was a teenager but never played ice hockey before. Just played my first game in a league and scored my first goal. You are never too old.
i love how ever old u are everyone has and amazing time and joke around
I was just a few months shy of age 38. Convinced my 41-year-old husband to join a "learn to skate" group with me (Hockey North America). About 18 months later, we are addicts. Best thing one can be addicted to, IMHO. Awesome stress relief, and as mentioned in the video, the relationships you form with your teammates/others in the hockey community are really special.
I just turned 12 and one day I was watching hockey with my dad and for the last few months I’ve wanted to play. So now I’m taking basic skating lessons and I think I might be able to play in about a year
The old guys will sit back and watch the youngsters do all the hard work, then casually skate in the perfect position to tap in a rebound for the goal. Gotta love it!!
I am going into my 1st hockey lesson at the end of the month. I'm 53 years of age. I have skated on and off but have been taking lessons for the last year to get the basics and learn some new skills. Always wanted to play hockey as a kid but never did it. Looking forward to the challenge. Thanks Coach Jeremy , your videos are really helpful.
I started when I was 20. I had never even ice skated before, but I learned! Best decision I've ever made. Hockey is now my biggest passion and a huge part of who I am. It makes me happier than anything else.
I grew up in NW Ohio, always loved watching the NHL and going to Fort Wayne Komets games when they were in the IHL. I was always big on football, and I was pretty good, but there was something about hockey that always left me with an itch. I played pond hockey as much as I could barring it was cold enough. I finally broke down a few years ago and bought the gear to play. I went to a few drop in sessions and realized I needed to get better quick. So now at 35 years old, I go to as many stick and puck sessions as I can. I've got 3 daughters, my 4 year old is dead set on playing after we went through skating lessons. I bought her all her equipment as a part of her Christmas gift she'll be getting next week. I'm excited as hell to be taking her to some stick and puck time!!! What a great sport, and I can only hope that the exposure of this tremendous sport becomes widespread in the midwest. IMO it starts with High School leagues. You have to get the kids into it. I really wish the NHL would focus on expanding in the midwest to really reel in more prospects in America. Milwaukee and Indianapolis would support an NHL franchise all day. Doing this would be huge for drawing more young talent into the sport.
I started when I was 9 I am turning 11 and my friends introduced me to hockey and my dad always watches it
I began at 5 and then stopped at 16. I played a few pickup games in my early 20s. Now I'm almost 60 and returning to the game. Love it. Full circle. Memories.
I was teaching Positive Psychology and I give public talks from time to time. I always say: If you want to leave in the middle of the talk just remember: it is very difficult to exercise and have good friends around you and be depressed at the same time...! Οne of the most inspiring videos! Those guys are just the greatest example for promoting health and happiness in today's world! Thank you @CoachJeremy!
I'm 17 now, so I'm at an early age but I haven't started playing yet because I'm still trying to learn all the skating techniques as I have only had a total of 14 hours of skating hours under my belt, but hopefully I can learn all that stuff, get some money for the full gear and start playing a game I have enjoyed since i was 3 years old! :)
Maybe good luck bro :D
The most inspirational video at the perfect time! I played hockey all through childhood into high school. I'm 44 and conditioning now for the fall 17' season. I haven't taken the ice since the late 90s. So motivating to see these guys!
This is one of my favorite videos Jeremy! I'm 31 and played Peewee hockey as a kid and just got back into playing men's ice hockey at 29. Never too old!
I started playing at 38 when I moved to Canada. I watched a lot of your videos to improve my game.
I am 24 and I want to start learning hockey in Mexico City! It’s hard as there are no many hockey fans here nor hockey rinks, but looking forward to first learn how to skate properly and then continue to try some hockey!
I just turned 33 and bought my first pair of skates last week! Thanks in large to your videos for helping show me the way!
Darin, Phoenix AZ
Love the dedication they have I feel the same and I never played hockey , I went ice skating my second time and got addicted god bless them eh 🏒
Thanks Coach, I'm 54 and returning to the ice after 20+ years away. Really great/inspiring video!
Jeremy, Learned to skate at 57. play 2 times a week and LOVE IT! Thanks for all you do. John
Ow. That is a great video and great encouragement. I'm 33, would love to play but it seemed so hard I thought it was too late for me. Guess I'll give it a shot
Thanks for the video! I just got back into hockey after 15 years off, the love of hockey never gets old!
I started a year and a half and ago and I'm 13 now. I have improved so much and I play in an intro to checking league with my friends and it is really fun.
Thank you for this episode! I am 51 and only been playing hockey 2 years. I have skated since I was a kid in Michigan, but never took the hockey plunge as an adult til now. To see these guys out there getting it on and kickin A$$ took all excuses away ! It feels good to know I can look forward to years of hockey skating fun and friends>>> THanks
i watched this video 3 months ago im 20 years old and yesterday was my first time on the ice was yesterday i thank people like coach jeremy and nasher really pushed me to get out there a goal is i want to be on a team next season.
Right-on, Jeremy! I jumped into hockey 4 years ago- I turn 63 this summer. Thanks very much for your wonderful videos- my key to learning how to skate and play! The comradery is better than any other sport I've played AND my wife and 2 twenties-something kids jumped in too and we have played together on the same team!
Thanks for sharing this video. I'm 40 now and just started with a 55+ in mind to stay active and actually good by then! All of my kids play hockey and was the initial motivation. Signed up a membership for unlimited classes, wish me luck for November! Being on ice helper was so rewarding!
I’m only 12 just learning how to skate and hoping to play hockey thank you for the confidence coach Jeremy
I'm 51 and l gonna play hockey as long as l can..love this clip..great bunch of guys !!!
I learned at age 45 after going to my first NHL game! I took learn to skate, then went to I League after about 5 months. I love the game, the culture, and the good times with the team. Many thanks for all your videos which have really helped!
Thank you Coach Jeremy for your videos. I started playing hockey just recently, and my mum one day asked me whether she is too old to play... I said no but I didn't have enough confidence. I guess I have a better confidence now, and maybe one day I can coach my mum!
I needed to watch this as I am starting at 60. Getting my skating up to par (that means so I don't hurt anyone) and next comes full gear and a hockey clinic. I am so addicted and it brings me the most amount of joy I think any activity I have ever done has given me
I'm 22 and I am just now getting my first hockey equipment and looking at joining a league soon or hosting a few pickup street hockey games up at the Y (though everyone thinks I'm a little nuts for trying to learn here in Florida). This video makes me smile. Love it.
Just started a few months ago at 29 and this has been inspirational knowing I got into something that hopefully I can continue to do until and after I retire!
I started at 46 and 4 years later i love it. Im in a weekly club playing with all kinds of skill levels.
Nice video! I'm 48, been playing for 44 years and love the game! Good to see the stories of some of the guys.
Started at 18-19 in California
Just put in your time skating.
Skate a dozen hours a week if you can.
That and gathering equipment is the hardest part.
Anybody can figure out the wrist shot after 1 quick lesson
I am 44 and have only been on skates once in my life which was last week. Videos like this inspires me. I'm excited to get to a point where I can play.
Great Video. Im just returning to hockey after 17yrs away. I wish i had not left it so long to return. This video is great inspiration.
Im 25 and grew up in Texas my whole life. was on my way to play pro baseball, so i never considered any other sports, but Hockey was always my favorite. I want to get it into it now but i kept feeling like i missed the age curve. I can skate but never held a twig on the ice. Started dating someone from Minnesota and fell in love with the passion of every single person in that state, and now after that, and watching your videos especially this one, makes me feel like "oh yeah you can do something just for fun, not everything has to be done to compete with the elite" so thank you for videos like this and hopefully soon I'll be able to make this happen.
Wow talk about motivating. I played 2 yrs as a kid 50 years ago, I would love to get back in it. I love hockey!
This video's a huge inspiration for me. I'm 28 years old and live in North Carolina where finding hockey interest is a huge challenge, but some day I'd love to learn how to skate on ice (been in-line skating for years though) and find a league just to have fun. It's a great relief to know that there are groups who welcome people like me with no experience, hopefully I'll be able to find something like these guys have. Thank you!!
Just started taking lessons earlier this year at 43. So much fun.
Awesome video Jeremy, I'm 39 and just joined my first beer league. With the exception of one session of roller hockey when I was 18 I have never played any kind of organized Hockey. Totally looking forward to it.
57 yrs skated since I was bout 3yrs but was never allowed to play organized hockey. Played tons of pick up street hockey and some pick up ice hockey in high school. I found some adult beginner clinics near me. Getting my skates and equipment together can't wait to get out there.
Great video Jeremy. Really enjoyed hearing the witty humor of the older guys in the locker room. You could make a video series just interviewing them. Awesome and inspiring.
Great video! I don't have very many regrets in life but not starting hockey earlier is definitely one on them
This is very inspirational, thank you. Just turned 50, haven't played in 15 years, just bought some skates yesterday because I've been itching.
Now that's a great motivation for me as beginner at 35. Thanks for this video Jeremy!
I started playing inline hockey here in the UK when I turned 21 (had a go at it when I was a kid, nothing special). Been nearly 2 years now and it's crazy how your game improves when you want it enough and have good company around you.
Plan to start ice hockey next year when I turn 24 - never too late!
Thank you for the inspiring interviews. I am playing again at age 51, after 25 years off to play other games. I began to play at age 15. Hockey is a great game, we are able to lose ourselves in the flow of its play.
Hi Jeremy,
I'm turning 50 this week and started playing hockey here 6 weeks ago. Haven't been one the ice for more than 25 years now it's hard to find the balance but I'm getting help here from the coach and the team at the Nijmegen University in the Netherlands. Thanks for all the great clips you post on UA-cam. They are a great help indeed! Grz. Daniel van Rooij
Best video yet. Great idea Jeremy! Played first time in full equipment when I was in my late 20's. Played "organized" hockey (ASHL) for the first time in my 30's. Parents couldn't afford it when I was younger. Beauty of this game is that you can always learn and it is never too late. All you need is passion and love for the sport. Love all the other stories/comments!
thanks for the motivation
I'm 62, just skated again yesterday after 10 years of no skating. OMG, muscles I forgot I had are sore. But Love it!!!
awesome video dude! this is the truth right here. I have so many friends that i ask to come play pond hockey or on my backyard rink and the answer is always i dont know how...WELL nows the time to learn!
This is super inspiring. I grew up playing hockey, stopped after high school, and just bought skates and a stick so I can try playing again. Im 55. I didn’t know there were leagues like this, thanks so much for positing this.
I'm 63 yo and I will step out on the ice for the first time and take my first skating lesson this coming Sunday. I'm very excited.
I'm 42 and this will be my first year playing hockey. I loved your video!
I was 26 when I first started playing in an adult beginner league. That experience changed my life in unbelievable ways (I'm 45 now). In addition to the amazing lifelong friends you talk about, now that I am living in Germany, I am leading a massive development project to renew and replace the ancient and obsolete ice rink facilities in Berlin. I have seen the positive impact that hockey (and skating in general) has on people of all ages - including my own daughter who grew up playing, and we want to bring those positive impacts here. Thanks for posting this video Jeremy. People need to see that as long as you can breathe and you have the desire, you can play.
I’m 52 and still play. Started as a 4 year old. Watching these guys is great as I’m getting to their age. It’s funny but the best part is after the games having beers and cutting each other up. It’s the best part hanging with the guys and shooting the shit.
33. Hoping to start with a casual pick-up group this weekend. Really excited.
Sensational, stepped onto the ice for the first time in years this week, just about to retire and will get back to playing, I still love the game!
Great Video! Started at about 11, refinding your videos rekindled my love of the game now at 14. I played in a floor league but it quit this year :( I would love to play ice hockey but there is not many options in rural north Pennsylvania
Started at age 47. Im 52 now and play every Saturday night. I dont skate as well as others but since im not puck shy, i screen the goalie and get some rebounds every so often to do my part. I love playing.
We just got our team back together after 20 years. We played in high school and a bunch of us stopped until a couple months ago when I got a text asking if I still had my goalie gear. I got rid of most of it but went and bought new used stuff. The hardest part for me is moving side to side, which is crucial. But after seeing this video, it kinda put it into perspective now to just go out and have fun. Of course we want to win our games but just seeing everyone again is awesome!! Great video!
dude Thanks for this awesome video. I'm 52 never ice skate until 3 weekends in a row on Saturdays at my local ice arena without lessons but loving the feel of skating on the ice. perhaps there is hope for me to do what these young boys are doing 😀.. thanks for your Awesome UA-cam videos
Coach Jeremy thank you so much for sucha a great and motivated video !!!! This is really inspired me !!!!!
I am 50 years of age. I started playing again 3 years ago after over 20 years of absence and have improved my game a lot thanks to your vidéos Jeremy on How to Hockey. I'ts possible to make a comeback but better if you keep fit, that's my advise to have fun longer!
I'm a 20 year old college baseball player and have always admired the game of hockey being a huge fan of the ducks. I played in my first ever game in an iron man roller tournament and enjoyed every second being out there. Looking to join a rec league and then move onto ice when the new ice complex is built in Irvine California
You’re the best Coach Jeremy! love your vibe and HELPFUL vids… much love from Massachusetts bro
I am 39 and my son is playing ice hockey for about 6 years. Every time I see him on ice I want to go there as well. Thanks for this very inspiring video - very motivating. Probably, I will give it a shot too.
I thought I was too old to start playing at 27. That was almost 20 years ago now. Best decision I ever made.
