McDavid revitalized the love and saved hockey in Erie. We were in talks to move the team every year and those rumors where getting louder and louder. He single handedly put butts in seats because everyone wanted to see this kid do amazing plays. The year he left to go the NHL, the Otters won the championship and healed Erie's love for hockey.
Hell, I paid significantly more than face value for front-row seats to a Steelheads game just to see them when Erie was in town.. The whole league benefitted.
It's hilarious bc it looks so unbelievably ridiculous, esp bc DeBrincat gave zero resistance, so its like Connor's hugging a child-sized doll in full hockey gear 😂😂😂
Had the honor of playing against him a handful of times through squirt, peewee, and bantam. Even back then it felt that fast as it does on TV now 😮💨 one of a kind!
how many times have you heard that he ain't all that? he's no Gretzky, or any of your heros of yester year. how many championships, etc. well consider this: if McDavid existed in the 80s or 90's, in his current form (training methodologies, and equipment) he would score 5-8 goals per game. he would have been like from outerspace. what he does, at the speed he does it couldn't even be comprehended at that time. Wayne Gretzky paved the way for modern hockey. he basically defined it, he was so ahead of the curve. but hockey is now Gretz crossed with everything good from European hockey and sport science. the game today is entirely different and hyper advanced compared to then. and Connor is the embodiment of new hockey.
@@DevynSelnes-h7h can you explain to me!, why no one else Gretzkys peers from those days didtn put same point totals??!. even though everybody had the same bum goalies and grappy D-men againts them what 99 had...?
I’d have to cut him for showing off and cherry picking. I also think he needs to work on his skating and stick handling. He’s a little small not going to be big enough or strong enough for the NHL……..JMO😅
It sucks that he had to play his junior hockey in Erie. He would have looked good playing at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium in the East Avenue Blue.
i think he will do well in the nhl
the most basic, default sense of humor
@@YambagOh boy looks like we got the comedy commissioner over here

Eh, could be a bust. Idk if he has the right attitude. This Ho Sang kid though! He could genuinely be a future 1st overall pick

I love how the GTHL clips are better quality than most of his Erie clips

I guess it was something that otter have happened
This guys got some potential
haha good one
Hes the goat in the NHL right now

Picking up DeBrincat like a child at 6:15 was hilarious 😂

This guy was NHL talent at 16 years old... fucking unbelievable
Had the honor of playing against him a handful of times through squirt, peewee, and bantam. Even back then it felt that fast as it does on TV now 😮💨 one of a kind!
Edges were always incredible.
Blazing on the ice,
Connor weaves through sticks and skates-
Pure speed, untamed fire.
Makes defenders look pretty bad. I'm a defenseman, if I'd see McDavid come to me with speed I think I'd just go to the bench.
Hey this guy looks pretty good. I’d take him in like the 5th round tbh.
Connor was taken 1st round 1st overall and is currently on the Edmonton Oilers fyi....
@@FP_88 What?! I had no idea!! It’s almost like he’s my profile picture!! 🤯🤯🤯
@@FP_88 I honestly still can't believe you fall for this.
Being that step faster than everyone else and having the hands to match is pretty rare.
Looks like a talented prospect
I hope he doesnt lose his interest to hockey when he grow up... You know girls and beer
mcdavid with the white RBZ is a thing of beauty
Fabri rocked em too. Sauce
literally was shaking my head for 8min04sec straight in disbelief...
I remember going Spits vs Otters games, young McDavo was so insane to see
Is it just me or is Mcdavid the only guy to have his jersey flap in the wind like that lol even at age 13
Future #1 overall draft pick!!!!
Mcdavid was so good he even got Connor brown into the nhl
This dude has way more talent than Gretzky ever had. I’m not trying to hate on him, it’s just fact. McDavid changed the way hockey is played forever.
found the 12 year old
@@inflamespwn well it's true, I guarantee Gretzky would agree. Hockey has just evolved so much
Yeah even the old skates and wood stick argument cant change this fact
Seems ok might be a 2nd liner
How is the quality so bad in the Erie otters clips lmao what was their budget in 2014.
3:47 young Connor to Connor bout brought a tear to my eye can’t wait for those boys to lift a cup together 🧡🤍💙
5:13 this is literally the best hockey play ive ever seen 😮😮😮
Wonder if this guy made it?
this guys pretty good he should consider playing in the NHL

No matter what era, age group, or skill level. A big fkn hit is a big fkn hit
Who would of thought this kid would go on the the best player to never win a cup.....all jokes aside he's awesome, he'll get one!
I think this might translate to the NHL.
Dude he is in the NHL already...lol you dense?
@@FP_88bro can’t understand a joke

Gretzky in his Prime made the Hockey world see what he can and could do....and they saw it.

You mean Marlies
this kid plays cards right he could maybe be a 3rd or 4th liner in nhl 🤣
He is captain of the Oilers man

The Erie season ticket holders got more than their monies worth during the McDavid years.
At 27 years old Gretzky all ready had 4 Stanley Cups and a SHIT LOAD OF RECORDS. Gretzky -Lemieux- Orr- Coffey- Roy-. Bring it on.
