I am a former D1 female swimmer who attended college on a full, four-year scholarship for swimming. And no, w/out that money, I could not have GONE to college. Unless you've done it, you have no idea how demanding a sport this is to make it in.
My heart absolutely breaks for the young ladies having to deal with this.
And shame on these transgender athletes who care for no one else but themselves and leave nothing but destruction and heartache in their wake. The epitome of selfishness. And now the NCAA has enabled this to continue. Nothing short of disgusting.

When you've work ur whole life to get to where you are in a sport as a women and then comes a trans woman who transitioned AFTER puberty blows all the records. A year on T-blockers is not enough to erase years of puberty development. No amount of blockers will ever be enough. I'm totally fine with any person who wants to live their authentic self, but when is comes to sports, I think the best thing to do is create a trans division to make it more fair.

Lia went through MALE PUBERTY!!!!! It changes EVERYTHING. I was always stronger than my little brother as a kid. That stopped the moment he hit puberty! All of a sudden a skinny zero exercise nerdy teenage boy was stronger than I was, and I was very athletic! It's crazy how male puberty changed his body. Heavier and bigger bones, bigger hands, feet, longer torso, bigger shoulders, everything!! "Muscle" loss doesn't mean Lia is now at the level of a woman. He still has better upper body strength, slightly weaker, but still a lot more than women. It's totally different.

I saw a fifteen year old boy about a hundred lbs body slam a eighteen year old girl who weighed 200 lbs in self defense. He doesn't work out. Kid lives off of popcorn and sweet tea. Males are biologically stronger and faster.
and every male goes through male puberty even if they have already gone through transition before it puberty does not change they still get way thicker bones more muscle mass and Tendon strength their reaction time will still be faster then women and they would still be better in sports by a lot

Sami, that’s false. Bone mass and muscle density are significantly different between males and females. The disparity is greater the closer they are to adulthood. Hormone therapy prevents future gains as a male, but it doesn’t significantly negate all of the gains this man had for 17+ years. It’s not a coincidence that MtF athletes are smashing records.

And have you stopped for a moment to think about whether things like bone mass and muscle density might correlate with height? If HRT makes a 5'9'' MtF athlete perform at a comparable level with a 5'9'' cis woman, has HRT not made things fair?

I do not agree with diverting extra resources for a trans team and especially if scholarships are the prize for a trans team. The scholarships should be for men's teams and women's teams. We should not be stealing scholarships from the men and woman's teams to give to the trans athletes. The trans league would be unfair because the only competitive people would be trans females that transitioned after puberty. Trans males would not have any chance at winning, and let's not create a league for each of the 25 new "genders" which would divert even more resources from legitimate competitors.

I had to look up "cis woman" after reading many comments using the phrase. I just realized that my gender has been re-identified without my consent. This stuff is crazy.

Then we can go back in time and start from beginning, before women start to fight for making it possible for women to do more sports, and did so under long time, they made a safe space for ONLY women to compete, the biologic gender was the first and MOST importin building block,
and then continued divide the women sports by age and by weight, etc. to make the competition more equal and inclusive.
If it should be as you think then we should only have one league, no gender separation, so it will only be male swimmer in the top fight against male.
So then women are going to start doing mostly the sports that man can not dominate or do not want to do. . Olympic games will not feel inclusive any more, with more than 90% male athletes. Less diversity. . . less fun less female in sports.

Anyone who transitions AFTER puberty has the advantage of the gender they were born with. Which is why you don't see any trans men (born female) blowing records for a mans sport or winning in a mans sport. You only see this in trans woman (born male) ALL of whom transitioned after puberty. Those are the ones breaking female sport records. It is 100 percent unfair for woman. It isn't about being transphobic it's about losing scholarships ands opportunities to MEN, because if they transitioned after puberty they still have the advantage of a male! Why not just have a trans division so that the competition is fair!

Title 9 was started to protect girls and give them the opportunities boys have enjoyed for decades. We are on the verge of throwing away Title 9 and letting boys find a loophole where they can compete as girls.

That “loophole” is an executive order by the President Joe Biden. He campaigned on this issue and received more “votes” than any candidate in history- so trans are here to stay in sports.

It is obvious. People are just trying to change the entire argument. Note the soundbite where the Dr. argues “there’s just not enough data available to show how gender-affirming hormones changes your athletic performance” (2:15).
Just because the scientific literature makes no sense to you, does not mean that there is anything wrong with the literature. All that it means is that you cannot comprehend said literature.

We need to unpack the misogyny and sexism that allows us to center a male’s need for validation in this conversation. Lia is a male. Allowing him to compete on women’s athletic teams because he “feels like a woman” is an assault on women’s rights and Title IX. We are sending the message to young women and girls that we know it is unfair and at times unsafe for gender nonconforming males to compete in women’s sports but we need women and girls to be kind and put his feelings before their right to fair and safe competition. Lia has the opportunity to compete on the male team like he has been doing.

@@MdhLV well we can cross that bridge when it happens. As of today 1/13/22 no woman has broken a record competing amongst males. If that ever happened it would be celebrated because we know that males have physical and biological advantages over women so any woman that can overcome those advantages would be worthy of being celebrated. This is so disrespectful to real women. Just this past year we saw a man win a female beauty pageant, a man set the record for Jeopardy, a man shatter records in swimming, and more I'm forgetting. "The first female so and so" has not been a real female a lot this year and it's getting ridiculous. If only real women weren't so afraid to speak out against this crap.
Wow Lia clearly has a massive physical advantage - she is MUCH taller with MUCH broader shoulders and longer limbs. This is so sad for the girls who are so substantially at a disadvantage next to a very tall, very large, clearly very powerful post-male swimmer.

The parents of this young lady is really to blame. It’s your job as a parent to teach your kid integrity and being honest. If your honest it’s clear she should not be allowed to compete against the girls. They should tell her it’s not fair either compete against the boys or don’t be on the team. Or swim but ask for your time not to be used to compete. Just silly that the world needs to discuss this.

Scenario: The best men's college swim team in the United States to make a point, all "identify"as females. Yes they have to wear the girls one piece swim suit to compete but other than that, all they have to do is say "we identify as female"? What's to stop that from happening? They can still have girlfriends, dress as males other than competition attire but simply say those words. Is there anything to stop them considering this is allowed? This is not a slippery slope but rather a very big cliff with big jagged rocks at the bottom.
