Could a linear motion system be made using two ballscrews? So a left-hand and a right-hand rotating together, but counter-rotating. I feel like this would counteract any backlash and premature wear.
Thank you for your question. The two most important ways to avoid premature wear are to make sure the ballscrew is aligned properly and maintain the system to keep the ballscrew lubricated and clean. The best way to decrease backlash is to preload the ballscrew nut. While this increase in preload force can affect the life expectation of the system, it is the most common method that HIWIN uses to achieve zero backlash. HIWIN recommends running two ballscrew nuts together to distribute the load, but there is no benefit in using a left and right hand screw together. Thank you again..
Hello Arbj, Thank you for your question. While right-hand turn is standard, left-hand turn ballscrews are available upon request, depending on size. In the case of Rolled Ballscrews, page 152 of this document www.hiwin.us/wp-content/uploads/ballscrews.pdf indicates where there is a choice for left-hand-turn for particular lead and diameter for C7 accuracy ballscrews. If you are located in the America's, reach out to distributors or engineering, with your specific requirements, on www.hiwin.us. For other locations, hiwin.com can help locate the nearest sales office. Thank you for your interest in HIWIN.
@@DodgyBrothersEngineering Thank you for your question. There are some applications that specifically require left-hand threads. One example might be a multi-axis CNC machine. There are also ballscrews that have both left-hand and right-hand threads on the same shaft, such as a clamping application. Please let us know if we can help you with your project.
@@nh18343 where would you need it? I used all the same type on my CNC. Maybe like @hiwin-usa said where you need both on the same shaft, but I am guessing that would be for an application where you need it to return to a mid point.
Hi, i am from India. I want to replace ball screw of z axis in my cnc engraving machine because there is little accident and there is lot of vibration sound from spindle because i think ball screws are damaged in that accident. Ball screw brand is Hiwin. it has vertical movement of 60mm. So can you guide me what should i do ?
Hi Ajay, Thank you for your business. This channel supports customers in the Americas. I would like to connect you with the right partner in India to advise the best solution. Where in India are you located?
A quick Google search: "Rudolph G. Boehm of Texas invented the ball screw in the late 1920s and received a US patent for the invention in 1929. However, the idea of using steel balls between a screw and a nut to convert rotational movement into linear motion was first documented in 1898 in The Practical Machinist. The Cleveland Machine Screw Co. is credited with the design of this early ball screw." Oh look, all Americans. Maybe educate yourself.

Do you also have anti clockwise / left hand threaded ball screws??

@@hiwin-usa was this even a serious question? As far as I can see left or right hand thread makes no difference to it going back and forth.

Does it matter which direction an FK20 is mounted?
Thank you for your inquiry. The FK20 can be mounted in either direction.
