Does the sidevu go from closest to farthest from middle screen where the black area is outward or is it flipped the other way. This thing confuses tf out of me lol

Hello there! Great video, really enlightening! I am about to buy a Garmin Striker fish-finder and I wonder if this equipment can function also horizontally and not only vertically. Our goal is to monitor fish passing from a specific section of a 15m-wide river. We want to station the Striker underwater on one slope of the river to record all the underwater area down to the opposite slope. (So the measured depth would be the distance of the opposite underwater slope of the river). Also, do you know if Strikers saves somewhere its recorded data (depths, time, recorded fish, monitoring video or images) so we can retrieve it for further analysis? (Like a data logger) Thank you very much!

Yes! This unit connects to your cell phone by Garmin Captains App. I think I have a video up for that. You can download maps and other data via the app on your phone and then connect it by wifi while out on the water.
Doesn’t it actually not have maps? I have been looking at reviews on Amazon and a lot of people are angry about false advertising saying that it allows you to log an area and make your own maps but does any actually have any built in charts.

You mentioned that you purchased the US Lake maps for this unit. I spoke with Garmin yesterday and they told me that I couldn't use the LakeVu maps because this was only a fish finder and not a chartplotter device. Could you please elaborate on your purchase and use of the maps? Thank you!

@@Hydrayak when I click on quick maps it shows my boat in the center of the screen and the rest of the screen is yellow and you can see latitude and longitude. When I go to split screen I get the same for god and on the other side it’s completely white with some lines for activity but no depth of structure, fish... is there an initial set up that has to be done? Thanks for your time man
Cover. It's cover. Structure is the layout of the bottom, the contours. Humps, saddles, points, submerged islands, ponds--structure. Cover is stuff on that structure, like trees/rocks/whatever.

installing this on my kayak and want to know which end of the transducer is forward i want the newest image to be what's in front of the boat
The small round end of the transducer should be pointed forwards.
