    Beautiful video and car. I have a 996 Turbo S. Added a titanium x pipe and a cobb tune, 540hp. These are very fun cars. Both rare, only 1500(Turbo S), 1300 or so for GT2. Cheers

    Thanks for the video. Definitely a very analog car, very stiff and harsh to drive around town. I have one myself, an 2003. When the turbos kick in on these you'd better be ready, amazing how much power comes out and the pull, makes the hair on my arms stand on end when it really hits hard. Nice fun fact on the prior owner, I had heard he owned one. Love the color too.

    I had a 996GT3 for many years and about 15 years ago I did a track day at Bedford Autodrome with a number of other 996GT3/GT3RS's and a guy in a new(ish) 996GT2. Some of the GT3/RS drivers where pretty handy drivers and nearly all had been set up for track work and the chap in the GT2 had a very spectacular off track excursion. Remember him spinning on some grass and crashed into a fence by the pit lane but luckily the only damage was a lot of stone chips on the rear of the car. Not a car to be driven hard unless you know what your doing.

      It's being able to predict when the turbo power comes in and the rate it comes. A normally aspirated car is more liniar and easier to control. Ultimately the GT2 has more power as well.

    OMG, youtube just threw this video at me, probably because i was looking for the latest GT2 RS on internet. That is my old car, i put the reg on it which i am chuffed its still there. Chris sold it through Porsche Reading and i bought it off Porsche. The Carbon brakes fell apart not long after owning it and i replaced with Alcon floating discs as quite frankly the carbon brakes of that day had absolutely no feel. I sold that car to 911V must have been around 2010/2011. To hear it now sells for 6 figures makes one feel bitter sweet. Bitter i sold it when i did not really need to (but it was in the way and did not get much use) and now its worth shedloads, Sweet in some ways as i would be happy to buy it again. That is a great car. cheers 991V - Ciro

      Always great to hear back stories on cars. We see a lot of our cars time and time again buying and selling them several times over. Ultimately it's like having an extended family of cars and it's why we take the long term view. The GT2 RS is weapon !!

      Well it's not designed allow air out so I'd say it was an intake? As to what the air is used for once swallowed up no, it doesn't get eaten by the engine it feeds the intercoolers.

    Sweet 996 GT2. I'd reserve the term "Widow maker" for early 930, though. A 996 is a very well balanced car to drive. Not tail happy at all. No lift off oversteer, no surprises. I race a 996 TT with GT2 ring and pinion, 600+ rwhp, very, very well behaving car. It doesn't have any of the quirky driving characteristics of any of the aircooled models, certainly none of the early 930 3.0 turbos.

    • @911virgin8
      @911virgin8  8 місяців тому

      It's a lot of turbo charged power going through the rear wheels on a car capable of extremely high speeds. The car potential / driver ability ratio could easily become unbalanced.

    • @kingkreole9121
      @kingkreole9121 8 місяців тому

      @@911virgin8 Nah, not really. I mean it is very easy to drive. Very well balanced. Doesn't do anything surprising. I drive without ABS, brakes are heavily front biased, can't do anything wrong with those. Unless of course you aim directly at a pole, yeah you are going to crash, but that is not because of the 996 GT2. The car itself does pretty much what the driver wants it to do.

    How to pronounce Porsche ua-cam.com/video/Im2eYuGdmfY/v-deo.html

    • @henryf9175
      @henryf9175 Рік тому

      But you did understand what was being said yes?
      The problem with setting yourself up as a pronunciation police officer is you have to get it right every time yourself. Not just for the one marque you know, Porsche but for all the other ones as well:
      Peugeot
      Citroen
      Skoda
      Hyundai
      BMW.....
      The list is endless.
      As mentioned previously on the channel I choose not to pretend I speak German, French etc but instead stick to my English accent and pronunciation. Knowing it annoys you will fill my heart with joy every time I say the word, and I do say it a lot in the course of a day.
      Continue to be happy and enjoy life to the full. I think we only get one go at it so let your hair down and really go for it. 🙂

You can continue to talk like a uneducated redneck and be proud about it all that you like, the link I posted is for people who would like to know the correct pronunciation and has nothing for people who are content pronouncing words incorrectly.
