I love how this pack gives a little bit of a nod to our Australian multiculture. Vindaloo (Indian), Mi Goreng noodles (Indonesian), along with our yeast extract (Vegemite) of course :D
It's mainly just for variety, and something that can be mass produced in giant pots, so they have to be a stew or hotpot type thing, there are different packs, by the best main/hot meal is the "Lamb and Rosemary". And Noodles, especially mi goreng is REALLY CHEAP.
No, youre programmed to love, and programmed to love the regional foods. Especially yeast, because the Australian DNA is prisoner colony DNA. The aliens know that feeding you yeast gets you all moving around and doing stuff like yeast.
Lane Browning He's actually a fan who gave Taras most of the MREs that were in his videos. Now he finally got in contact of him personally, and made this video.
Pheonix MELTDOWN Yeah i'm sure mate, I have had the 'Yeast Extract' from the ration pack many times. If you look at a Vegemite container under the logo it should say some where 'Yeast Extract'.
we call the can opener a fred in Australia but there are many other names for it.the green cloth is a scaring pad with soap in it so when you are finished with your meal you can clean your pots and depose of the scouring pad as it has tracers of food in it it usually gets put undergrounds with all other food waist.
I'm Australian, and I'd eat all of this stuff. I'm surprised that almost all this stuff is easily available. For instance, I saw that beef jerky at a 7-Eleven recently.
I've ate kangaroo, it's way too lean unless you grind it with a fatty meat like lamb, pork, or duck and make it in to a burger. It's a myth that Australians eat kangaroos, everyone knows they only eat dingoes with a side of coral from the Great Barrier Reef.
At 2:25 the reason it says product of New Zealand is because us and the kiwi's are in a thing where we protect them and stuff and this goes back to WW1 the ANZAC'sAustralia New Zealand Army Core
lThe average ADF soldier uses the EF88, Basically a modern version of the Austeyr F88 with picatinny rail mounts. Australian Special Forces use M4A1’s and HK416/417’s
YES!!!! I was waiting for this, AUSSIE MRE!!!! My Dad used to eat this when he was in the Australian Army, I showed this to him and he said that this brings back memories.
Its called ANZAC Australian new Zealand army corps i'm from Australia I know and the can opener spoon thing is called a FRED a freaking rediculous eating device
+Harry Hammonds ANZAC is really just a word to describe Kiwi and Australian forces working together. Many combined operations are still undertaken between New Zealand and Australian forces due to many shared interests (hence why some products in the MRE were from New Zealand).
I think another guy, in New Zealand has done this same MRE. the condensed milk is for the coffee, tea or the musli, the yeast extract is vegemite, the little scrubber is for cleaning your canteen cup or mess kit
the noodles are labeled "mi goreng", which is malay (why malay in Australian MRE? IDK) for fried mee. It's supposed to be dry - you have to drain the water from the instant noodles then add the seasoning and stir.
The reason we have yeast extract also known as vegemite in our MREs is because it is basically salt in a paste form. You lose a lot of the salts in your body from sweating so you eat it to replace the salts that are lost and this reduces cramps and also gives you the feeling of being energised.
+Chiillxer yeh basically. The mi Goreng are Indonesian style flavoured noodles . the little packets are like kecap manis ....dried fried onion and some kind of spicey oil....and chili flakes. They're pretty popular but they contain palm oil which isn't real good for you.
the scourer there is to scrub your cups canteen after you cook with it because we use hexamine stoves which leave a sticky soot sort of layer on the bottom of your cups canteen, so you need to scrub it off. I used a handful of sand or dry grass normally myself.
Max Rockatanksy yeah I agree. When I was younger I use to think it was fun so for the first day or 2 I'd eat them but after that I'd just go back to normal food. Now I'm older I keep them in the camping gear just in case but rarely eat them anymore.
Yeah yeast extract is Vegemite, to be exact it's actually the left over yeast sludge in the process of making beer that gives it that distinct flavour. Delicious on hot toast with melted butter!
Why because of m&m's? There was two sweet items in the whole 24hr ration pack! The rest was all good food and the condensed milk is for the coffee and tea.... It helps to know how to eat it correctly..
Hi Taras.. I would like to tells you something. The noodles said mi goreng.. it's mean you need to boil the noodles then you need to drained the noodles, only after that you can mix it will the seasoning.. mi goreng in English means fried noodles.

Yeast extract is Marmite or Vegemite in Australia.
Team Bab It really isn't... Yeast extract is used to make bread, if there was vegimite in there you would know trust me
yeast extract IS vegemite ( born and raised in Australia ) Team Bab is right
dougie Mc Gregor You're getting the two mixed up. Yeast is used for bread. Yeast extract is a product of yeast, used for its saltiness.
it is vegemite mate
Dougie Mc Gregor, it's Vegemite, that's what vegemite is, sorry to disappoint you :P
