- An air of distrust began to pervade the once-stable society. Unusual incidents were dismissed with casual indifference, perceived as nothing more than momentary glitches in the perfect machinery of the InfoStat. Dissenters, once a rarity, were now labeled as conspirators, questioning the infallibility of the machine they had come to worship.

The fact that the "Only Fools and Horses" calendar is such a ripoff might be the truest representation of a property by an advent calendar I've seen. It's like Del Boy made it himself.
I was just thinking that hahaha
I don't get this joke. But I can read the instructions of the German calendar.
Which is rather boring.
@@cpt_nordbart Only fools and horses is a comedy show about a pair of traders who try to get rich by selling poor quality products, this calander is 100% the kind of rubbish they would try to sell.
@@cpt_nordbart Only Fools and Horses is a show about a less-than-honest salesman.
@@cpt_nordbartas laerin7931 said, Only Fools and Horses is mostly about Del Boy scamming people with overpriced tat, like when he bottled water from a nearby pond and sold it as "Peckham Spring". he would very much sell a cheap advent calendar where most of the doors have trivia and stickers behind them
Also the title comes from the phrase "Only fools and horses work", meaning that if you're smart then you can find a way to make money without working
"If you hadn't gone for X, you would've won, Dan" is basically the entire premise of the advent calendar series.
Dan's therapy alarm might actually be the best tone setter of the entire decade of Advent
Weird co-incidence but this is the third UA-camr I have seen in the last couple of weeks who has had their alarm for therapy go off during their recording. Folks are playing fast and loose with their self-care scheduling! (And maybe I am the only person who sits logged into Zoom 20 minutes early on therapy day so that I am not late.)
I'd love to see the reaction of his therapist when they ask 'so how has the festive period been?' and he replies with 'a crap Only Fools And Horses advent calendar made me the most depressed I've ever been in my life'
@@Lastielion Because it is always Zoom.
Dan had far too much fun with the barbie in this one
I used to have that as my ringtone so I got a little PTSD when I hear it
So the Barbie calendar is on Mattel's website and that one IS numbered.
There's also a description of the contents.
Today's tiny fairy wings are meant to be worn by one of the four pet figurines in this calendar. I am assuming at least one pet was meant to be discovered before the wings.
So not only did Dan buy a shit Barbie calendar for £25, he managed to get one that was misprinted?
I thought it was a ring
@@RufusOmega so it would be worth at least ten times more if Dan would just kept it mint.
3:10 According to the German wiki, the 3001 is a running gag on the show where Woozle states he names his inventions so "because 3000, 3002 and 3003 all blew up"
I think the OFAH calendar may actually be the worst advent calendar in the history of Stuart and Dan doing advent calendars. It's hilariously awful.
Paw Patrol was pretty shit.
I think pricing is important too, and these werent that expensive, I feel the worst ones were the luxury ones that gave you garbage.
@@randomenvelope25 quid for that shit is an absolute offense. What a waste of money!
It’s between that and Paw Patrol
It is riding *hard on nostalgia more than I think any other advent calendar ivr seen.
Those little tornado things are actually quite cool
Yeah I made a couple of those as a kid. I used to put lego men and small toys in them
They can also make water based "hourglass"
I had one as a kid. I had glitter in the water. It actually looked really cool. Or at least it did to me when I was a child
I loved my Tornado Tube, which came from the gift shop of the Franklin Institute science museum in Philadelphia. This video just brought back some pleasant childhood memories.
"Does Barbie come with Ken?"
"No, she only comes with GI Joe. She fakes it with Ken."
Ken already had the surgery with the scissor action knockoff barbie doll..
I thought it was well known that ken comes in a separate box
Hahahahaha
@@VerneDoranLMFAO
Don't forget Santa is also coming
This years great but something feels off without a punishment calendar. Nothing will ever beat Dan dying while eating stale multigrain shapes covered in spice.
The cheese advent comes to mind.
German here;
The Bottle tornado is set up just as Ashens described. "luft ist nicht nichts" means "air isn't nothing", as the water replaces the air and both change places in the bottles
Not quite. If the blue thing is screwed on tight, nothing should happen because the trapped air isn't an empty space the water can just flow into.
@@Avellania Exactly it literally says what should happen, which is maybe a bit rubbish to be fair.
@@Avellania That's why you swirl it. The agitation forms a vortex to let the water and air exchange as fluidly as possible.
@@Avellania Gravity is a thing.
We're gonna need you on translation duty for the rest of the month.
I've been watching this for about 6 or 7 years now, and it legitimately became a holiday tradition for me. It's the only thing that puts me in anything resembling a holiday mood now, that I'm in my 30's.
This, legitimately - every year advent starts and I go "Oh shit it's Christmas time!" and it actually does put me in a cheerier, holiday mood
Today I undercorated my Christmas tree, since it is a tiny, living sapling I think it looks better as a healthy houseplant than with lights on it. And even I feel Christmassy watching the annual crap calendar countdown to the big (lonely and uncelebrated) day.
Same here im 27. Christmas truly starts when these two get together to look at some proper calendar tat.
Couldn't agree more! It's a tradition for me now! That and Ashens Poundland Christmas round up.
During November and the run up to Christmas, I start to hype myself up for these calendars. Definitely a highlight of the UA-cam year! 😭
I like the tornado thing because it's one of the few doodads that's required to do the experiment AND is hard to find. It's very specific. Like, you could find a sad little paintbrush or an icecube tray around your house.
The paintbrush is lame, but ice cube trays that make ice cubes shaped like your favorite character is cool shit that kids love in general. I had a Mickey Mouse one as a kid.
It's not necessarily required as you can just literally tape the bottles together. So it's really just this specific gadget made for this very specific use for a specific experiment JUST for a bit of convenience. Otherwise, just use a bit of tape, it's how we all used to do the experiment before that specific tool was made for it.
@Sin_Ligereep You know what you're totally right, I just remember the tape being annoying. So it's less required and more just a useful alternative
@Pikachu132 I like the molds too actually XD I was just trying to make a case for my argument since *technically* you don't need them but they are more fun! Come to think of it though I'm not sure they showed us what the experiment was
@@22kaybee22 The experiment was to sprinkle salt on ice cubes to see how that melts the ice. There's a German UA-camr called Michael_eMki that shows off the calendar in actual detail
I feel like Dans butterfly is one of those cheap plastic rings that a kid could put on their finger for about a femotosecond before it starts to pinch you and make you bleed.
Also the OFAH calendar is definitely in the running for worst calendar ever. If it wasn't so expensive I would say it's worth it just to see how much more shit each day is then the last 😂
I looked up the calendar online, there are four pets included in this calendar and these tiny wings are meant for them. Mattel's website has a full description of the contents.
@@B.-T. At least put a spoiler warning
Honestly worse than a lot of the punishment calendars
No, it is the wings for one of the pets. He hasn't opened the pets yet because he got a defective calendar with no numbers. Most of them have numbers.
"femotosecond"
I genuinely expected the German calendar to be better than it has been
But this is the first actually practical thing is given for the theme of science experiment for kids
I mean the Ph trips were certainly science experiment-related but you need more than two dang strips.
hate to admit but I legit like this army man calendar.
ikr i would have been chuffed to bits with that as a kid
@@gilgammesh1Let's be honest, who wouldn't've?
@@gilgammesh1 incredible username friend
I went looking for one yesterday but they were sold out online
@@Chaos89PMe. I never liked army. Also i was more for the daily chocolate as a kid. But it's still a pretty good calendar so far.
Dan drinking a definitely, totally six day old soda, now that is dedication 😂
He did say it's all he has in his fridge. I believe it's a new one, and Christmas is ostensibly the season of believing.
But then how come Ashen's hair isn't six days longer than when they started? How peculiar.
And the tee shirts haven't been changed in 3 or 4 days either!!
I feel for poor Dan. Cancelling his therapy appointment to get some stickers and a butterfly.
A butterfly that fits on Stuarts action figure as well instead of barbie.
I'm starting to feel genuinely sorry for Dan at this point. However is he going to survive another 17 days of this?
You don't need to feel sorry for him, he wasted his money for our sins!
Luckily he isn't consuming copious amounts of cheese
Miserably, he's gonna regret not going to therapy today
Part of me agrees
Part of me feels like this is karma coming back for him after all those times in previous years that Stuart had clearly won but Dan kicked up such a stink that Stuart just caved
me too. How does he manage, year after year, to always pick the worst calenders, and then choose those ones to open
“If the baby is a boy, they are going to name it Rodney…after Dave!” 😂
Only Fools and Horses calendar feels like it would've been a punishment calendar in a previous year.
Anyone else longing for the days of the Pensioner's Breakfast? 😂
I'd have chosen one of those bloody cheese calendars over the Only Fools one!
The thing from the german calendar is apparently used to demonstrate the fact that air takes up space and has mass - empty bottle at the bottom, full bottle at the top, full bottle is supposed to stay full because the water can't displace the air through the single opening. Nice little experiment for the children if it works.
Mentos in the top bottle, Coke in the bottom one, Turn over, shake and run
@@Hansblacksands Sounds like an explosion of Coke waiting to happen. Do this outside only.
3:15 "Air is not nothing" - the experiment proves that air has to escape the lower bottle for the upper bottle to empty.
How is it that the only calendar that ISN'T officially licensed is cleaning house with the ones that are?
They spent the money on quality instead of paying most of it to some corporation.
As someone who grew up being one of those weird nerdy kids, I knew exactly what that plastic bottle twister was the moment I saw it. All kinds of fun for about 30 seconds every so often.
Try carefully layering different colored waters in the bottom bottle. Makes the vortex much more interesting for that 30 seconds.
I feel like we were overdue the moment the fairy wings went on the commando - more calendar collabs please! 😂
When Dan revealed the stickers I was convinced it was going to go "Some holly... some balloons... and a GRASS MAS-"
the way Stu ripped that sealable backs head off triggered me, you could stash some special dust in that for happy times that you'll need after this is over
I cant stop following the little story in the description the fact that it is hidden there is pretty great.
I now want Ashens to make a bottle tornado with various out-of-date drinks he has laying around the garage.
This has become a yearly family tradition where we sit and watch together every evening.
The bottle connector thing is actually quite cool. You will need two 2Litre bottles and fill one 3/4 full with water and add a bit of food colouring.
More excited about this than my own advent calender
What's your advent calendar?
@@vinceeager8553 it's body shop this year!! so each day is a different skincare or bath/ shower product and it actually has been nice this year so far ! was expensive though ngl
but nothing can compete with whatever crap calenders dan and ashens get each year 😭
@@vinceeager8553 asking the important questions.
Every year, I'm tempted to get one of those chocolate ones to play along, but I always forget to get one beforehand and can't be bothered to make a specific trip to the store to get one when I'm already behind one day.
@@animeartist888 honestly as a kid i would forget about the calendar a few days in a row but that just meant more chocolate on the day I remember!!
Doing an experiment a day with the german calendar would legitimately be pretty cool for a kid interested in science. Ashens' calendars are both just hands down better.
8:40 - I love how the angry face on Dan's shirt is perfectly placed while trying to do the puzzle, as it does look like the arms belong to it.
Classic! Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory!
You guys are giving the only fools and horses one such a hard time!! That’s a cute little thing and it’s thematically appropriate
I love that you guys do these every year.❤ Thank you!🎉
Poor Dan. I think another food-themed calendar(s) would be good next year, they both seem to enjoy suffering so much :D
I did the 2-liter tornado thing as a kid. It's fun!
the little speech bubble is saying "luft ist nicht nichts" which translated is "air is not nothing" so i think the experiment is about showing kids that air is a gas that interacts with stuff or something like that
With the goggles that soldier looks like a henchmen for the monarch
The water tornado thing is good fun. I had one as a kid
7:15 - Absolutely perfect fitment for the butterfly lol
I didn't notice the grass masks on the bookshelf in the background until this video, now I have to go back and re-watch the previous six episodes to see where they appear.
What truly sets apart how bad the Only Fools and Horses calendar is, is how genuinely - and surprisingly - GOOD the weird German science-for-kids calendar is. They had no reason to put actual effort into that. Hell I feel like I've had Secret Santas with worse gifts than what they've found in that thing
My favorite Christmas tradition
On the seventh day of Advent, these two blokes gave to me
Snow gear and a cap thing
Soldier and mermaid tail
Some fancy guns!
Barbie and a box of weapons
Tech gear and a brush
Backpacks, shoes and dancers
And Some guff that is generic
I had one of those little bottle connectors when I was a kid. Fun for a few minutes!
I actually knew what the bottle thing was, because I got one when I was a kid. You’re able to make a vortex in one bottle and have it feed into another. It was actually a pretty fun thing as a kid.
Despite the ocean of snark and irony, it really has become a sweet Xmas tradition for me to enjoy this series every year. Happy holidays to all ❤🎄
Wow love it
This day was pure gold! And Dan's fail/almost success was just the cherry on top.
The timing on the puzzle was nothing short of glorious.
The Only Fools And Horses Calendar might aswell be a Titanic Calendar since everytime Dan opens it he gets a Sinking feeling
I know they were bagging on it but I recall REALLY liking the vortex bottles as a kid.
I think Stuart should give Dan the tie. I mean I saw he had them separated at the buzzer, the one just hadn't fallen from his grip yet.
That blue bit is exactly what you thought it was. I've seen them before.
Day 7 in the big Daniel house: Disappointment
That science calendar is so cool!
I have vague memories of using one of those bottle connectors in school many years ago. Except one bottle was filled with oil and another water. Made sort of a homemade lavalamp.
That timing though
Dan has become the true spirit of Christmas.
8:15 As a used to be 8 year old with barbies, many with broken heads and bent legs from tape, maybe a missing limb, they're only minorly robust until they meet the wall
Barbie with a sub fusil, that nice
Soldier toy with more fairy wings, made more heroic thing in the world
As someone currently learning German, I am very excited that they are referencing the Adventskalender instructions so often, makes every advent video a German lesson!
I loved the vortex bottles when I was in school
Dan, let me see what you have.
"A KNIFE."
NO.
The butterfly likely attaches to her ankles so she can fly
No, it's meant for some little animals that Dan just hasn't found yet, likely thanks to going in blind since his doesn't have numbers.
No, there are pets in the calendar. He got a defective calendar that has no numbers. Most of them have numbers. If he'd been able to open them in order, he'd have some pets that can wear the wings.
That ending is in the top 10 advent moments for sure.
The utter defeat on Dan's face 😂😢❤💔
So I had to check my mobile phone when Dan's alarm went off. I have the exact same melody as my ringtone!
I got one of those bottle connectors.
You put water in the one, and you can spin them and it makes a whirlpool which drains the top bottle far faster than just pouring from one to the other.
It's a physics demonstration toy, something that my niece and nephew actually really liked 😉
Omg that alarm is my ringtone and I just panicked so hard
I honestly would like to see what that plastic bottles thing does.
I'm pretty sure those purple wings are a ring. The loop is small for children's fingers, but it has the gap so it can expand for larger fingers
No money back, no guarantee is unbelievably descriptive here
when I woke up this morning, I didn't think I'd get to witness barbie receiving an ice pick lobotomy from a military man a third of her size
Oh the therapy alarm! Everytime i cancel therapy i cant be bothered to cancel my alarm
The snow shoes save the day 🥰🥰
I feel the purple butterfly Dan got was a ring for the girl getting the advent calendar to wear
Del Boy would be proud.
The butterfly thing might be an irl ring for tiny children.
Butterfly soldier!
‘In the war for America’
I knew what the plastic bit from the science calendar immediately because I just recently bought one myself on a lark from a dollar store. Mine even came with a tiny plastic cow!
I remember doing the two plastic bottles thing (experiment??), except oil was involved somehow too and it looked pretty cool.
The purple wings connect to her neck, along with the wings at the waist, to begin forming a scarab armour.
That’s one of the more fun science toys
I assume the butterfly is a ring for a young child.
We mostly would but Mattel has a description of contents on their site. They're meant for some animals included in the calendar to wear.
Ashens won with a plastic tube and some bits of weird shaped plastic. Amazing.
Only took until day 7 for the army men to be wearing the Barbie accessories. Actually, I bit surprised it took this long, though day 1’s table was the perfect army men size. Something about the butterfly wings on the army man reminded me of Arthur’s moth suit from The Tick.
Butterfly: a ring for you! Wow!
😑
that butterfly is a ring for the kids to wear :
This year's advent might hold the record for shortest time before Dan gets depressed enough to ignore the rules.
Fitting that Stuart’s device seems to have played German Techno music
It baffles me that the Only Fools And Horses calendar has positive reviews on Amazon. People's standards (or lack thereof) never ceases to amaze me.
Advent calendar reviews are notoriously unreliable because people tend to review them before they actually start opening them to see what's actually inside. That Paw Patrol calendar had positive reviews too, most of which were along the lines of "my grandchild is going to love this".
@@Pikachu132 That is both sad and hilarious.
The wings looked better on the army man than on barbie
That butterfly is likely a ring for the little girl this calendar was intended to be inflicted on.
i think the armymen calendar is the winner already
