Injection molds for transparent stuff are way more expensive. The mold cavity "wears out" sooner because the part can only be as smooth as the mold, and clear parts have to be significantly smoother than the dyed parts in order to be properly transparent and not just cloudy translucent.

Well then, there's a thing I've never even thought about before. But it completely makes sense that prisoners would have to have transparent/translucent objects in their cells.
For anyone that wonders why something as small as earbuds needs to be transparent.. inmates are incredibly resourceful when it comes to hiding contraband. earbuds could easily hold several tabs of K2 or be used as a way to pass pills. Clean out the electronics and you got a nice little inconspicuous capsule to hide enough drugs to give the officers a bad night keeping you alive/ non rampaging. Edit: I am also assuming the wire needs to be clear so the officers can see if the cable inside has been removed. A long piece of wire has a lot of uses to an inmate. I remember seeing a 2010's CRT TV in a prison tech video once. Outside only having an RF jack, not even composite, it'd be a pretty neat piece of tech.
this was a great video, loved the caparison of the headphones at the end without the sennis cuz I spent like 15 min trying to scrub through the video to do exactly that but its way better to compare the way you did at the end
My first "Real" pair of headphones as a teen was a pair of black Koss R/22 on ear headphones with a 15 foot cord that were the exact same plastic moulding as the cl/20 you showed here, still got them and they sound just as "good" as they did when I first got them to watch TV in my room at night.
That Pendulum song shot me back to those CSS flashdeck animations...
I had been given a prison cassette player and tv by a friend of my mom's growing up. It was my bedroom tv for years.
Those last headsets were designed based off the Radio Shack Pro-35 Titanium headsets. The drivers had a Mylar cone rather than a plastic one which gave them a different sound that was bass rich
At 0:26 I have that exact TV, I bought it at a thrift store because I knew it was a prison TV.
I have my buddies clear 13inch flat TV from his time. Love using it for retro games

These headpahones got VEUATIFUL FEARTURES m8
4:03 "Let me in"
7:50 nuddle time
It comes with a 1 year warranty, but you can expect to be making them last for the next 10-15.
How you be in Australia and not just HAVE prison headphones?
DankPods really went to prison just for some headphones.
That's some dedication.
This guys never gonna run out of junk to shout at is he
Dude earned yourself a subscriber, seriously; most youtubers are so bland and only get into the details and nothing else, while you put some spring into your step and honestly I just really appreciate that. Also your Australian.
Pendulum do be hitting like that tho
The real dirtybuds
Best headphones for Norwegian black metal bands, hands down
1:51 I FUCKING LOVE THAT SONG! I got into it because of Motorstorm!
The worst punishment, having access to only crappy non bassy earphones
1:43 PENDULUM MENTIONED RAAAHHH
Is this bass really strong enough?
HOLY CRAP A TRANSFER PAK
Sorry wasn't expecting nostalgia from a viddie on prison dirty buds.
Jesse and Hannah were the arresting officers, weren't they?
its a crime that he didnt record something with these with the signature "I'm in jail" at the end of his rambling
I think I have an addiction to this. Headphones for prisioners sounds so funny 😭
Wow
First time I see a dank pods vid within the hours of it being posted
I love living in a prison colony :]
The large ones sounded sort of like how music sounds in an empty mall. Which are most malls.
That's the best Frank bit we've yet to encounter. Thank you anonymous Frank caretaker, you have greatly improved my day
I used to go to the flea markets all the time and my dad worked for a jail supply that had a semi full of transparent tvs get stolen. He'd always jokingly say keep an eye out for those stolen tvs. He'd also bring home boxes full of these headphones. I would use them for cable ties.
Kudos to Wade for breaking into prison just to get these headphones for science
Hate🦃
man that Fiio M17 is a unit
Well then, there's a thing I've never even thought about before. But it completely makes sense that prisoners would have to have transparent/translucent objects in their cells.
Only if the country hates their prisoners and doesn't treat them like humans lol. The technology in a lot of European prisons is normal.
I'd have to ask my wife though, she's the officer, not me lol
He should try to build a pair of headphones out of junk, like the Shrekpod but headphones.
