Always wondered about this place, looks super cozy at night when I drive past. You could probably park and walk from the South shore Market or Ala Moana for free;) Thanks for the vid Misty.
Hey Misty ! We can honestly say that Gem and I have never had Korean BBQ. We love your vibe with the description of your lunch, good and not my thing ! Interesting mix of food to get a taste of Korean. Cheers Rod and Gem 🤙
Hi Rod and Gem! Oh you have to try some whether here or in Australia! I haven't been yet but Korea House near Waikiki has been raved about. i want to film there but haven't been able to meet up with Braddah Tatz due to schedule conflicts. All Korean restaurants give you all those sides for free with every meal. Your vacation is soon! How exciting. 😊
That opening shot of the soonbudu made me stop what i was doing, looks soooo good! I would opt for the same lunch special choice, love kalbi. Traditional Korean food has so many textures and flavors and they all compliment each other. With all that ono looking banchan you'd never get bored. They gave gim too for the rice 👌. Yuuuuum 🤤.
Thanks RipleyLV! I think the lunch special makes the most sense. While not totally cheap, still similar to a kal bi plate lunch which is not cheap these days with the bonus rice and soup! It was super yummy! I'd like to compare it with Korea Garden soon.
Aloha Misty & Aiden ! Our favorite Korean restaurant recently serves "purple rice" instead of plain rice. Even my wife's order: 'Bibimbab' came with it. Also, if you speak Korean... you'll get the metal chopsticks, otherwise the wooden ones. Have a nice weekend... wherever you might be. DougK
Aloha Doug! Purple rice is so good! 👍 They did give metal chopsticks in the package I showed but I dropped them so I had to reach for the wooden ones in the drawer. 🤣
Mashiso! At least, that's what my friends would say when we would go out to eat. I actually like that burnt rice. It's tasty. You have the most polite special guest. Thanks again.
Nei, mashiso! I don't speak Korean but know some. Mostly swear words my mom used to yell at me as a child when I was naughty 🤣 Aiden is polite and quiet. He's the bestest. 🤙
Mouth watering for soondubu. My favorites when Grandma made was radish green kim chi & Corvina fish too. PS. I knew you'd pull out a drawer. They do that in Japan, too.
Hi sista. Love Korean food. Love kimchi, the more aged the better. Good to see Aiden with you. He must eat everything having an adventurous mom. Love the marinated potatoes as well. I love vegetable burdock kimchi. Take care Sista. Have a great night.
Aloha braddah Mark! Ooooh you are authentic! I don't like too sour. Makes my eyes squint 🤣 I like em fresh. Aiden does have a pretty adventurous palate but surprisingly will not eat Spam musubis. * gasp * Take care and have a great weekend!
Aloha Misty and Aiden: It was nice seeing you both enjoying a delicious, healthy, and “yummy,” meal at this authentic Korean establishment. Just looking at the tofu soup, and the side dishes, reminded me that I have to visit a Korean restaurant soon - LOL. I see that Aiden is getting to be a fine young gentleman, and happily enjoying his meal. 😀 Hopefully, you can bring mom/grandma to try this delicious-looking cuisine soon. Great restaurant find. Best wishes and regards to you and Aiden. Much 🧧and 🤙, fellow 🐯!
Aloha Bill! Yes please go get your Korean food fix. Aiden is growing up so fast. Can't keep up. 🤣 He did enjoy his meal. I don't bring my mom because she usually has not found a Korean place she likes here because she is super picky. Anyways she cooks all the same things at home. Thank you and have a great weekend! 🐅
Aloha Misty, who’s playing the cool groove on the opening song? Also thought the shirt you are wearing looks interesting but can’t quite make it out. HWN electric pole? Thanks🤙🏼
Aloha James! I am not sure who plays it as I use music from a site I pay for so there are no copyright issues. I just thought it sounded cool, just like you did. The shirt is super old from Urban Outfitters. It's a helicopter hovering above electrical lines with birds on it saying "Really?" underneath says "Ghetto Bird." 🚁
Hello Misty, I love black rice to me it’s a treat while going out for tofu soup. Again foods look good, thank you for sharing your video. Having fun in Australia. Did you know Vietnamese foods tasted much better then in Vietnam? Have a great day. Peace
Namool looks I haven't had decent namool in a long time, I loved my aunt' s namool when I was growing up & her kim chi was really spicy but delicious, h😊er cooking really spoiled me , always compared the restrictions cooking to her, aunt's was ALWAYS better !❤
@erickim2025 Aloha Eric! My mom is from Seoul and cooks very well. So I am picky about Korean food. This namul is good for other's standards, but since you are Korean I'll say as a fellow yobo I've had better. 🤣
Aloha Sean! Yes I finally got one after seeing yours in May 🤣 and now they just released the Action 5. Dang it. I have an Action 4 so no need I guess. Yes go try em! 🤙🤤
Misty! When I saw your check in, I had a feeling you were going to do a video there! I am definitely going to try there soon. Been watching Youn’s Kitchen and Jinny’s Kitchen on Amazon Prime and wanting to have good Korean food! Thanks for sharing… oh gosh, your son is so big, growing up fast!!!
Yes you're in the secret squirrel know! 🤣 Definitely picky about Korean food. I don't watch much TV or Amazon or Hulu so never saw that. Soon I'll be eating da real stuff. 🤙
Yes! So good. I heard zkorea House is better. It's been on the list with Braddah Tatz but for 2 months things came up and our schedules don't match. Hopefully I can try it soon to compare. 🤙
@readbooks9985 Han Yang was one of the first Korean restaurants here on Oahu. Loved it with the original owners. My mom used to take me as a child. Love Frog House and have been putting off Korea House to go with Braddah Tatz but our schedules don't work. Frog House is the best so far for me on Oahu for sure. She is totally right!
For b roll I use my phone. I've gotten a new phone but have been using it since May. So I'm not sure. All the previous videos I'm using my phone for the close up shots. Maybe it was the lighting in the restaurant. 😊
@@FoodFiend It's a tricky thing..... I'm guessing like you say the lighting inside seemed to work with your phone's white balance.... Anyway it really pops for some reason.... I worked in high end restaurants 30+ years..... You do a great job on these vid's cheers...
@scullysensei i am not sure because I don't watch K dramas or TV at all. I would say the meal as a whole was delicious but I've had better kalbi. Maybe do the grilling or pick the bbq chicken instead or bulgogi.

Hi Misty and Aiden! They gave you a lot of kalbi meat. I love spicy tofu soup in the hot pot and the multigrain rice with kabocha is so onofied! I can live off the banchan only. The white daikon banchan...your displeasure!😂😂. Ha ha! I saw the whole egg in your tofu soup...yuk yuk...you can have mine. 😂too funny
@SakuraSpring Yes the banchan except the white radish was so good!! I could live off of the too with rice. But rice doesn't agree with my blood sugar. The soup was great and for a lunch special for soup, meat and banchan was reasonable.
That soup looks so good! I would be happy with just that, the stone pot rice and banchan (I’m not a fan of tough meat either). I’m wondering if the white banchan at 8:42 may be potatoes? I’ve had potatoes like that before. Just a wild guess. Another place to try - thanks for sharing, as always! >^.^
Hmmm I'm not sure it was potatoes. Could be. But didn't taste like the Chinese shredded potatoes that look similar. Had absolutely no taste. No salt. Was like soaked in water. 🤣
@GeorgeMoises-m2w I didn't notice the details but it is flushed to the sidewalk for entrance. I would assume everything here should be ADA accessible otherwise it would be illegal no?
Rice and banchan by itself look like a meal by itself. I dont know why their soups always look so temp hot that I'm afraid I would burn my mouth eating it with that metal spoon. Weird, huh?
Hey Misty! Hope you didn’t work too hard today! That looks WAY WAY better than the Pearls on Kaheka that i got yesterday! I was hungry for kimchi tofu soup. Changed my mind which was a mistake. Peace out!
Yummy! Thank you Misty!! Loved hearing a little history from tour travels as well!!
Thank you! 😊
Always wondered about this place, looks super cozy at night when I drive past. You could probably park and walk from the South shore Market or Ala Moana for free;) Thanks for the vid Misty.
@@tonycarpaccio9550 You're welcome! It was cozy! I would've parked at Ala Moana but was lazy. You could do that to save money
Wow Misty, the korean food looks great! I gotta try it one day! Nice to know that the street now two way. Great video!
Thanks Robert! Definitely go lunchtime for the special to save money. Dinner is very expensive. 🤙
Another great find.......thank you.
