@@RRCRestorationI'm having a problem with my1995 916. It's developed a leak at the seam of the 2 bottom engine cases . Is it worth tearing the engine apart to repair or should I just ride it and re fill the engine oil?? I'm concerned about oil on the rear tire and an accident because of the oil. I've been quoted 4k plus to do the job. I have the money but I'm worried he may be taking advantage of me because he knows I want it repaired more than not repaired. What do you suggest and what do you think a fair amount would be in U.S. dollars???? It also needs the stator replaced because it's burned out so I couldn't drive it until that's repaired anyway. What is your advice??? Thanks, Chris
You're one of the tidiest people I've ever seen. Major plus in such projects. It's such a clean & well looked after bike, clearly somebody loves it & keeps it in a velvet lined garage.
Looking forward to this one. A wee tip for you. When you're spraying yellow I highly recommend using white primer. Yellow basecoat has terrible covering power and needs a lot of coats. Starting with a white background makes everything that follows a lot easier
Dont worry im way ahead of you, i was a painter for 15 years ;) I always hate painting yellow i used to hate it that much i usually refused to paint yellow cars not worth the time and effort haha
Without any special knowledge from my side and thanks to your videos I was able to strip my 916 down in about 2 hours. Now it is ready for new clearcoat and further adjustments.
Fabulous, I still don't think that in the 20 odd years since the 916 arrived, anyone has come close to creating a bike anywhere near as beautiful, AND IT'S YELLOW!
@@RRCRestoration Not to mention, the cost of acquiring an F4 combined with the prospect of replacing parts makes restoring one a whole other can of worms.
Excellent workmanship, saw the 748 restoration, thank you for the tip of wrapping cling film around a tube, shaft before trying to fit an oil seal, worked a treat when fitting a final drive shaft oil seal for me.
Not quite the typical restoration of this channel but so good to see a bike that has been looked after. For me its much more fun to work on a bike which doesnt need a full restoration.
I own a 2007 Yamaha R1 and love the performance and looks, but wish the fairings would remove this easily! It's a real pain just to do an oil change, or add / flush coolant. No doubt these services get neglected as a result.
I have a 1995 model in the shed, I have taken it apart so many times for service I knew exactly what bolt you would take out next! Fun to see, and inspiring too! Mine had the same charging issues, had to replace the stator and rectifier both.
Always nice to hear from a fellow Ducati owner, Yeah im hoping its just the wiring on this one but if need be ill replace the stator, rectifier or both but lets hope it doesn't come to that.... wishful thinking i know we all know what these bikes are like haha
I stumbled upon your video and I will follow this restoration closely because it is my favorite European bike. And your videos are great. The shots are interesting...

Love your comment and thank you so much for watching, If you're green with envy just now wait until you see it finished ;) haha Tbh still cant quite believe I've got my hands on such an iconic bike and torn it to a million bits haha
Nice! I didn't think that the bike needed a resto, but as more and more came off, more and more bits needed cleaning up or touch ups. This should be a good series, so thank you!
Yeah its defo a good bike and could have been used as is very easily as its more than presentable enough and has a full Ducati history to back up its good looks but you know me and this channel presentable just isn't good enough ;) haha
Best restoration channel ever! you rock man, plus I can practice my english, I always found UK english harder to understand, but I really like how it sounds, so it's to see how you work on the machines and I can practice a little, too, cheers man!
I was actually remarking on that the other day while stripping the bike, it does look as gorgeous and interesting even without its fairings and in a office that would be a great talking point. George says hi :)
She's already beautiful, certainly and forever one of the best-looking bike ever made ! After this restoration, she'll be the genius child of Tamburini... I can't wait to see the rest. Great job man, as usual !

Nice film, meticulous work as it has to be with stuff like this , I chased a 748 around in Iceland , he was a local and we were touring , he’d was a vey skilled rider on a well set up bike, after miles and miles of empty perfect tarmac the road just ended , he never slowed down and neither did we, as started drifting the rear in the shale ,always thought these were a next step from the laverda MONTJUIACS .

Yup you know me so well now haha
Hmm, from a distance maybe, but this thing's definitely been through some road salt somewhere in its past.
It may have looked good from 20 feet away, but close up shows the corrosion and nasty engine oil and coolant. It was getting well used.

I just can't believe how easily this bike disassembled!!!🧐
