We have these for my landscaping company I work for, and we use a switch and go system on them. Awesome way to haul a lot of payload without getting into CDL territory
Glad to see our fleet swap to these F600’s. We use em for small bucket trucks to work on overhead electric lines. Our 550’s were over weight after all the tools and equipment added to em. We recently weighed one of our F600’s and came in at just over 21,000 lbs. fully equipped.
I'd like to see one of these with the 7.3 gas. And the 7.3 in the chassis cabs aren't detuned. If you look at the power specs, the horsepower and torque ratings are achieved at the same rpms. That means all they did was take the regular super duty 7.3 you get in a consumer truck and put a 3,750 rev limiter on it to get longer durability out of it.
Nice review of this F600 truck with longer wheelbase and also underpowered which means less power than the regular super duty pickups with no payload sticker because it's incomplete from the factory
That size vehicle should have a little bigger diesel engine 6.7 is great but this size here uh maybe like a small c8 cat motor around 425 horsepower be a good option
No one tows with these because any trailer would put it over CDL. Since you essentially need a CDL while towing, you would be better off getting a proper medium duty like an M2.
There really would be no point for a f600 with a rest module for hotshot anymore than the truck as stardard for hotshot. The limitations on combinded vehicle and trailer lengths means sacrificing trailer length for a rest module to be added to the truck. Then, the extra weight takes away the payload. And when you consider say a ram 5500 with a 19,300 gvwr and 35,700 max towing. Vs the f600 22,000 gvwr and 34,900 despite a 150 increase in tourque over the ram. You realize you get less max tow for a decent bit more weight capacity that is excess for what it can tow while being able to tow less. Then, taking away even the higher payload by adding the rest module. Plus the added cost. And higher insurance just by it being a f600. It's best used for a service truck role.
Before Considering a F450 chassi cab, F550 and UP, you should check the commercial insurance rates, outrageous! I have A F450 chasse cab crew cab version and my insurance rares have to be commercial, and they are outrageous. Also, living in South Carolina, my yearly property tax on this truck is outrageous. Definitely Stay with a F350 pick up truck Unless You have very deep pockets. My f350 dulley is a fraction of what my f450 chassicab costs yearly.
big reason I stayed with 3500 dually, here in California ,insurance , registration is wildly expensive then you have to go across scales get a Dot number more money for that, big hassle govt agents got all their hands out if you making a living with your truck.
@concretejungle77 A ram 5500 will be about 3,661 dollars with some variations. That's about 305 dollars per month. The registration is like 2,000 dollars in California. However, unlike other states such as Iowa at like $750 for a 2500 or North Carolina, where a vehicle is considered a property tax, which must be paid to get your stickers. California is high because it sees it's 2500 and up trucks as what they are unless specified. Light to medium duty commercial vehicles.
I feel like the 7.3 gasser engine with a centrifugal supercharger kit (no more than 6 or 7 PSI boost) would be almost as good on fuel and have a lot more top end power than the derated powerstroke. Makes me wonder how well a 7.3 gasser with some performance mods would do towing 30,000 pounds.
Don't like it with the pickup type front end on it (like the tilt front on the older one's) wish it had the inline 6 diesel don't like the v8 and hey used to offer them in the crew cab.
I purshased this Ford 600 junk in 2020. That "awesome" 7.3l would remain running after the key was removed. I literally had to remove the battery cable to shut off. top speed is 65mph, i could barrley go the interstate speed. Sold that f600 back to the dealer and bought a 1998 ford F800 with the 5.9l cummins and allison auto for a fraction of the price. everything is better about the cummins f800. Post covid ford sucks!
I absolutely love my f450, I have had 4 f450s through the years….. my 2020 450 has been absolutely, impressive, its ability to stop is so so comfortable, to stop is way way better than how much can I haul, hauling is easy, stopping is and always has been monumental, my 450 with 22 American force on 37 toyos, it is a awesome hauler, hauled 40 yard loads of vegetation, daily for the last 5 straight weeks 7 days a week 2 hours a day for hurricane clean up, my trailer alone weighs 13k lbs, it’s a grapple trailer, dude it’s the baddest set up , it’s the envy of the clean up crews, for walks the dog on every other truck, especially the 450s they are way way beefier than all other trucks, is the 600 shit? It share looks that way , is it great for adding to the bed such as a lift or vacuum truck or tow truck absolutely, but for hauling it is pure shit

Great video, great info
Cool review! One thing interesting was the bare steel square tubing exhaust hanger setup in the rear.
Love my 2021 dumptruck

Yes you can get that truck in the crew cab.
Nope
Id buy it as a mini roll off.

The 6.7 is detuned for longevity in this. I’m sure it does well but the 6.7 makes like 450 hp and 1100 lb/ft of torque in the 250-450
I've seen guys use Dodge 4500 n 5500 regular for hotshot
The tires are not overbuilt. The tires are 19.5 just as any other commercial truck.
Do the de-tuned chassis cab variants come equipped with an engine brake yet or do they still only have tow/haul?
We have F600’s in our fleet of small bucket lift trucks for electric utility work. And yes they do have the engine brake.

I have commercial on my F-350. $2,200 / year. I’d like a F-550 but I just can’t justify the added insurance cost being a small business.

@@danielmorris-ruckett913 yes plus here in California 450 and up has to go over the scales so you need CA# and DOT# as well, more $
@@concretejungle77 true.
Payload king 👑
Imagine this with a bed
Looking at one for a 12 ton wrecker
Pre salted from the factory😂
Its brand new and some of the parts and bolts and nuts are already rusted out, why can't they use stainless steel or galvanised bolts and buts.

Fords regular cab is too small. Better off getting GMC/Chevy or Ram.
Yeah, because Ram and GM have a truck that can compete with the F600 that isn't a mini semi truck. Think before you post
Chevy's 2500 will tow 20k lbs...
Then be in the shop broken by 50k.
Newsflash, all 3/4 ton trucks can do that. dumbass.

I guess cry more, that should take care of it. Try one if the other makes, let us know how it goes. 😭
Your fault, should not have bought a petrol engine for a commercial vehicle.
I hate it! Anyone who has to drive this! Get your cdl……
Well, cry more, hopefully that helps.
Enough with ford geez…. Hate ford
Cry more, that should help
