My first dog was an unregistered bully or pit. I did research after I got him and by two months he was fully trained. Coulda been a great guard dog but I trained him against it because I decided I wasn’t prepared to train a guard dog yet. I fully trained another dog in 2 weeks. My advice get them young train early do research. You gotta know what motivates them and you have to make the dog fall in love with you after that training is pretty simple. The first thing I teach my dogs is yes and no. Then I teach them to enjoy obedience. After that all the commands are pretty easy to teach. It takes work and you have to keep at it. I slacked off around 1 year old and stopped walking him and taking him out in public and he started reacting.
Overall I would say bullies are probably better than pits but should definitely check the lines and buy registered. Some lines have issues mental and physical and some breeds have working lines and companion lines.
Good dogs if you have the time or motivation to put the work in.

I agree to a degree , I’m a trained Master Dog Trainer , no dog I can’t handle , they know who’s about that life pack leader once they feel my vibe , with that said agree , don’t get a bully breed that u don’t know was breed for temperament and meet parents and u still got work to do , must be total discipline and always safe like your handling a handgun , but not just bully breeds , Akita’s , chows , sharpies , Husky all independent thinkers and demand respect but with that said love pits , but for newer dog , who want a protector , go with well breed , breed for temperment Rottweiler , Rottweiler once trained , great family dog , who will fight to the end to defend his family

I still have a game dog, but I’ve cared for them since I was a child. My great grandfather had them for the coyotes on the farm. There was only two dogs that he had chained, barricaded, and put way in the back of the yard. Those two 45lb dogs would be worse than the coyote’s if or when they got out. Nothing out no one was safe. Not even myself at 5-6 years old.
I know too many people who want the responsibility, or feel like they can take genetic make up, and I always tell them to stick to a Lab or Golden Retriever.

That's no terrier despite the name. They are Bulldogs. I've been around them for for over forty years - game dogs and catch dogs. They are different. They are not prone to bite people but it can happen.
Mine have been very quiet inside, playful outside and predatory when out on the leash - meaning they were stimulated by the other dogs in the immediate area. I'd take him to the ball park, go inside on of the baseball fields and let him run around.
Others would literally crawl over you and needed constant affection but were super intense around other animals.
Neither types could be trusted in, say, an event where people had dogs on leashes or running free. If there were no pets they thrived on the attention - especially the children (Pit Bulldogs have never been uncommon in South Louisiana as Floyd Boudreaux is maybe 60 miles from Baton Rouge - though those who had his dogs, Lightner dogs, etc., were "in the fraternity" and not common).
So, do I have a dog now?
    No.
Why? I work long hours and... Life. However, I'm offered dogs all the time. Mostly game dog pups from persons who realize that a "normal person in society" is well aware of the history, the bloodlines and pedigrees of famous working strains of the dog. I tell them if I won the lotto I'd buy a Redboy-Jocko-Bolio-Tombstone dog or a Bolio-Tombstone (Hollingsworth/Wildside's Kennel or Cottingham) pup or Bolio-Tombstone-Eli pup from working bloodlines. Why? Because that's what I grew up around, I adored the affection and attention they gave as pups. I slept with them and I played with them on the floors of the house or on the ground at their level achieving a very tight bond. My late great uncle used to say, "Nephew, with three good Bulldogs you could crash the gates of Hell" meaning they'd kill Cerebus and it's just you, your Bulldogs and whatever lies behind said gates... They really need LOTS of time and work - kinda like a Malinois but that's not to say their basic drives are the same.
*Bottom Line - EVERY THING AINT FOR EVERYBODY*
There's no better breed (FOR ME) but they should not be in the hands of wannabe tough guys or fur moms or lazy folks who refuse to spend any time with the animal.
I do not encourage persons to purchase Bullies and I *NEVER* encourage John Q Public to purchase a real Pit Bull as they are working dogs, intense dogs, loyal dogs that need a loving, well-disciplined, near zero stress environment as pups and you have to secure them. The English Bulldog came from Spain. They were called (in English) the Butcher's Alaunt. They were considered bandogges (the word "Docga" means Mastiff or Catch Dog as does "Dogue" (French) , "Dogge" (German), "Presa" (to seize or catch; bite), "Fila" (to seize, catch). A bandogge implied it was a mastiff (they came large and small and the Bulldog was the smallest of the Mastiffs) a mastiff that was tethered because it would get into trouble if not. A true Pit Bull is kinda like that. Unless you live on a rural farm.

My service dog would start coppin all kindsa attitude if i didn't at least acknowledge that miracles can happen lmfao but i sure as heck would never suggest someone ever let their ego's make fools of them by assuming they themselves are the miracle in the equation
Wont lie there have actually been a couple people ive made breeders aware of so they can hopefully keep pups out of those situations and ptotect themselves from getting bit in the a55 by any backlash that comes when those egos get popped
Mad love and much respect for always staying so upfront on this topic...

by the standard they are companion based dogs. low energy low drive with a decent biddable temperament. meaning they listen better than most independent dogs like terriers but not as well as most shepherds. they are NOT a protection breed as they are supposed to be very outgoing to strangers. which u don't want. most guarding breeds show stranger danger behavior. These guys are breeding more work oriented bulls which is why he said he likes more terrier in his dogs. adding more terrier also makes them great in personal protection as it ups there drive and energy.

      @nasheemwhye5197 15 днів тому +2

That's incorrect. The American Pit Bull Terrier is the formal dog. But there are pitbull-type breeds like the Staffordshire Bull Terrier and the American Staffordshire Terrier. These are pitbull types because of their lineage. Each of these dogs participated in bullbaiting, ratting, bear baiting, and dog fighting, which makes them pitbull-type dogs. The Amstaff is no longer a game dog, as it's now a conformation show dog and pet dog since 1970, but it's still every bit as much a pit bull again because of its pure lineage. It can even be registered dually registered, that is, as an American Pit Bull Terrier in the UKC and ADBA.

I really wish people would stop calling their dogs "game dogs." If you have never put your dog in the box to roll when it was a young pup to see if it possesses the intestinal fortitude to continue, though it was getting its butt whipped, and it doesn't come from a reputable dogman from a reputable bloodline, you cannot call your dog a game dog. You have a pet dog. Also, American Bullies were never bred to be fighting dogs. They are companion dogs. Do not confuse them with American Pit Bull Terriers. And stop calling them pit bulls because they're not pit bulls. They've never participated in bear baiting, bullbaiting, or ratting to deserve that title. They are not in the same league as a real tried and test game APBT.

What people don’t get pit bulls are like Trev said multiple times these dogs think and they are made to be in the PIT or hunting game (high prey drive) u have to be a leader I’ve had pits since I was 18 I might recuse 1-2 pits but these dogs aren’t for the weak

Bullys were bred the aggression out of them. So they have the look but a family dog! Bow people are breeding the aggression back into them. Slow down fam.

I really do disagree with this, I work with pits, I was an assistant working with one of the first Pitbulls used in the Mexican military. I specialize in desensitization and I've never been tagged by a bull breed, all the shepard dogs have gotten all of us when they're separated from their handeler. I think a little more hands on, little less personal opinion would go a long way. Love the content but think this one was a miss.

it's really dog dependent but he was not wrong. terrier and bull type dogs are independent breeds meaning they aren't really handler focused. unlike shepherds which are HIGHLY biddable dogs (high handler focus). its not uncommon for either dog to go back on you to get to what they want but it's often easier to direct one over the other since they are more likely to listen.

@foxcannon8480 yes, I do understand that, what I'm pointing out is that both the examples they use are PREY driven, only one is actually more tolerant of others (pits/bull breeds in general) and the other is just more inteligente on average. There are no bad/aggressive dogs, just improperly handled!

😂😂😂I disagree a bullypit breed can be raised correctly and bam imma dawg will show itself. Shepherds, pinchers more tryna get instructions .Not saying it will be violent but destructive by nature ,these bullypits aren’t violent but protective by nature by with different motivations. I understand about the incorrect handling of them but they do think like iRobot 😂😂😂😂

😂😂😂😂😂 I know that yall don’t spank your puppy but with the same belt I spank my chile is the same belt I spank my dawgs with, sometimes I have to spank both of them together it’s hard being a parent f them kids both em.😂 My dawgy daughter isn’t violent but is DEFINITELY DESTRUCTIVE,but my daughter is violent, somebody help me. They’re both spoiled af but the belt helps no cap belt vs nobelt, I don’t have repeat myself when I put the belt around my neck, and without both em look at me like yeah if I want to when I want to,I’m too traditional in raising my family so that attitude won’t work well with me.

He's absolutely right. If you don't know how to handle a pit bull stay away from them. If you can't invest a lot of time into a pit don't get them. They are NOT house dogs. They are naturally aggressive because they're bread for it.
