I'm on my second LM. I'm lucky enough to have the grandson of my first one. Truly wonderful dogs. Great in the house with the ability to flip a switch in the field. Very calm and trainable although they do better with a soft training approach. Great with kids and other dogs, and very trustworthy. I think I'm ruined from having any other breed.
My dog is also a shop dog so he sees literally 100's of people and dozens of dogs a day, so he's awake and moving 10 hours a day, so for me the exercise requirements are minimal. an hour walk or 30 minutes throwing the ball is fine. I also hunt 50-60 days a year so that helps quite a bit. Summers are spent swimming at the lake. He figured out how to throw the ball for himself by dropping it off the dock and running back to shore and retrieving it. It's really kinda funny, but keeps him entertained while I'm working around the cabin.
As far as a hunting dog, He's far better than I could have ever hoped for. A steady pointer, and great retriever. He's especially good at coming up with birds that don't go down as hard as you would like. He went almost 400 yards on running pheasant in North Dakota this season and came back with the bird. I hunt ruffed grouse a lot, and if you know that type of hunting you know it's hard for a dog to get good points on ruffed grouse because they flush wild so easily but he even does that.

I love my Large Munsterlander. He is super intelligent, very loyal and a perfect companion and family dog. The biggest con though is that they are very much velcro dogs and most (like mine) are very prone to separation anxiety and has become a real issue for me. Also, their very high prey drive might not be a good thing in certain circumstances .
