replies in the comment section do NOT pass the vibe check. Yes, straight white men, we get it you have struggles. We all have struggles. But are your struggles because you are straight, white, or a man? N o. Also, this song is about Straight White Men, not straight white men, if you know what I'm trying to say. Calm down, if you're offended by this song you are indeed the problem
@Carter Bohrer All right chill. There have been significant studies that shows how much meant to press their emotions. And how they are encouraged to actively suppressed emotions. Not to mention the stereotype of always being the strongest in the best of everything is toxic. I’m not saying that excuses man of course it doesn’t. But men do face and extreme expectations that are just unbelievable, the same thing can be said about female beauty we are expected to reach these unbelievable stereotypes that will never occur.
@Carter Bohrer And? That doesn't mean it's not an issue. You also seem to forget it's influenced by controlling and abusive girls who mock boys for being weak.
Honestly I don't like the concept of saying that "Straight White Men" will never have to experience problems because of their gender, race, or sexual orientation. What's the point of saying that. There's always a scenario where any person could be faced with injustice because of something about their composition. Like the Menendez case from the 1980s about 2 teen boys who shot and killed their parents. They had been violently sexually abused their whole lives by their mom and dad, and killed them out of self defense. They said they knew their parents were going to kill them. Guess what, they were found guilty of murder. The prosecution testified they killed their parents for money, and the judge made a statement saying men could not be sexually abused. Apparently the jury thought so too. If they were 2 teen girls killing their sexual abusers, no doubt the jury would never have bat an eye. On top of that, the jury was hung twice before the guilty verdict. Literally anyone can experience any injustice because humanity is evil and will cause wickedness anywhere. Yes, black, gay, and female people experience injustices, but so can any other type of people. Like saying they CANT denies human nature.
@Carter Bohrer well my friend who wasn't allowed to even cry was not allowed to do so even by his mothers side (it's all good now tho it's getting better) I have also seen girls say that men shouldn't cry and invalidating their coping mechs like talking to pets or shit (coming from a girl btw)
For someone who is a gay hawaiian nonbinary; I share all my support to my straight white bros out there, the hardships you guys face really shows how strong y'all are 😭😭❤️❤️
Thanks homie. I just got back from my 4th trip to the mall today, and still no luck with a khakis, but knowing I have the nonbinary's support is really helping me ✊
@Raichman I didn't want to be rude after your story, but I'm sorry to tell you that she leaving you and he dying has nothing to do with you being white, straight and male.
In fact, it would make twitter VERY happy, since they love to mock straight, withe, males, mostly for "good" reasons, but sometimes they just throw it into a discussion as a way to just shut people up
Kinda off topic, but as a straight white male myself I have been randomly selected for a drug search at an airport when I was 12. I have no idea why they thought a nerdy looking 12 year old would be carrying drugs but whatever
While I do agree that straight white men have issues of there own, the whole point of the song is to highlight guys who think they’re being brought down by minorities having rights. Straight white men have issues of their own BUT for the most part it doesn’t have to do with their race, gender or sexuality but rather life circumstances (and this song is also focusing on the upper middle class)
I would say about a reality here. That it's not really white being opressed but rather everyone else getting more. Just the propaganda that goes in every country that doesn't leave anything to own opinion and experience is stupid.
we watched this in class and afterwards this guy stands up and goes “just because i’m a straight white guy doesn’t mean i don’t have problems, like bro this song is offensive” hello??? honey, you missed the entire point
@@erdibulku6848 no, hes just sensitive and got his feelings hurt bcs he wants to be oppressed so he can have something over minorities. which he already does...... but apparently not in a way he likes
@@haileyturner8219 its not minorities who are demonized in America, its whites and more specifically white men. And its white men who are insulted and have their opinions invalidated not minorities. He doesnt have anything over minorities. Also just the fact that people in your country want to be oppressed shows that your society rewards victimhood. In america poc are given God status you can never under any circumstamces say anything negative about them or you loose your job or your education where as for white men you can say "we should kill them all" and there's no consequences.
One thing in this song that I love and think is absolutely genius is the part where Bo tries to switch out the term "blacks" for African American's and then stops himself and says it doesn't fit with the rhythm. It's a funny joke, but it also helps to show one of the main points in the song. Straight white men have been told how to fix some of the issues, such as change the names they use to describe people, only for them to act as if they can't do it. Instead of changing the rhythm to accommodate the new term, he simply says it doesn't fit with the rhythm he's already established, and isn't willing to change it. I don't know if this was intentional or not but I think it's a really neat detail.
I’ve always wanted to ask why do Americans refer to black people as “African Americans” ? Why do they add that extra bit to differentiate between “Americans” always came across as subtlety racist.
@@decrulez I think it's meant to be less demeaning than other terms, such as blacks, which can come across as hateful. I know some people who are Black that are cool with the term and don't see a problem with it, while others don't like it. As a white person it's not really my place to say whether or not it's racist, but for the most part I don't think people use it to be harmful.
@@decrulez Honestly straight white males have a talent to make any given term derogatory, so I suspect it's less about the term itself and more about the fact it's not already being used as an insult. Full disclosure, I'm a straight white male myself and am likely missing some insight into this, but there does seem to be a cycle to these things. Especially consider that previously "negro" was also used, although I don't know enough of the history to say if "black" as a noun was at some point changed to as it was considered less insulting or whether the switch was due to other cultural factors.
White men have been villainized to an extent where it is ok to insult them mock them invalidate their opinions and all of this while pretending to stand for equality
I've always been partial to the Kanye rant. I thought that was really powerful and personal. As good as this song is, I think it does get just a little repetitive. Like, when I listen to this song, I'm just sitting and waiting for the next setup and punchline, whereas the Kanye rant is a lot more unexpected.

@@scarb5256 I know, I was just joking because there are people who actually think like this.
Scar B a joke song based off of an actual toxic mindset
what does incel mean?
POV: you're looking for the people who apparently commented that they unironically relate.
If you see those comments most likely youre looking for them and sorting by new
I don’t even have to look for them
replies in the comment section do NOT pass the vibe check. Yes, straight white men, we get it you have struggles. We all have struggles. But are your struggles because you are straight, white, or a man? N o. Also, this song is about Straight White Men, not straight white men, if you know what I'm trying to say. Calm down, if you're offended by this song you are indeed the problem
Not really with straight or white but people absolutely do face struggles by virtue of being a man.
@Carter Bohrer well my friend who wasn't allowed to even cry was not allowed to do so even by his mothers side (it's all good now tho it's getting better)
I have also seen girls say that men shouldn't cry and invalidating their coping mechs like talking to pets or shit (coming from a girl btw)
For someone who is a gay hawaiian nonbinary; I share all my support to my straight white bros out there, the hardships you guys face really shows how strong y'all are 😭😭❤️❤️
Haha
Thanks homie. I just got back from my 4th trip to the mall today, and still no luck with a khakis, but knowing I have the nonbinary's support is really helping me ✊
as a bi brown skinned asian american woman, i agree 😭😭😭✨✨✨
@Raichman I didn't want to be rude after your story, but I'm sorry to tell you that she leaving you and he dying has nothing to do with you being white, straight and male.

The song single handedly would piss of Twitter.
I sent this to a super straight and they called me peanut-brained :DD
Everything pisses off twitter.
Some airports have a rule that they check every x number of people to avoid profiling.
Yes men are much more likely to be searched by the police but who cares right ? People like him surely dont
3:20 this bit especially just shows how much of a beast Bo is on the piano
While I do agree that straight white men have issues of there own, the whole point of the song is to highlight guys who think they’re being brought down by minorities having rights.
Straight white men have issues of their own BUT for the most part it doesn’t have to do with their race, gender or sexuality but rather life circumstances (and this song is also focusing on the upper middle class)
Facts
Yeah, there was someone complaining about the stigma surrounding straight white males, and they didn’t seem to understand.
I would say about a reality here.
That it's not really white being opressed but rather everyone else getting more. Just the propaganda that goes in every country that doesn't leave anything to own opinion and experience is stupid.
no you cant have right how dare you
we watched this in class and afterwards this guy stands up and goes “just because i’m a straight white guy doesn’t mean i don’t have problems, like bro this song is offensive”
hello??? honey, you missed the entire point
Oh god
Please tell me you slapped him.
He's right
@@erdibulku6848 no, hes just sensitive and got his feelings hurt bcs he wants to be oppressed so he can have something over minorities. which he already does...... but apparently not in a way he likes

I love that this is just a black screen with a tiny man singing
@@traveller23e people should just get over it I think

I've always been partial to the Kanye rant. I thought that was really powerful and personal. As good as this song is, I think it does get just a little repetitive.
