Pay or get evicted. It’s simple. Try this at a leasing office, they will evict you extremely fast and their in-house attorney will always win. There’s contracts people sign. Follow them.

Correct until a Federal Rent Moratorium comes along, which takes precedence over all state and county laws, and then these corporate lawyers working for these corporate management companies are forced in to following these federal laws. Their hands were tied

You shouldn’t have to evict anybody. If they don’t pay their rent the police should remove them. It should be considered theft. You shouldn’t have to hire an attorney to get them out. That’s why we have professional renters who never pay rent and move from place to place.

We do live in the United States of America, not Russia, and there are laws protecting the landlord and laws protecting the tenant. There is a venue called Landlord Tenant court where issues like this are sorted out by a judge.

@@robertg1101 do you have any idea have many people never pay rent. They just move from place to place using these laws to live for free. Where I grew up they called them professional renters. You don’t go to a store, restaurant ect. And not pay. Also, any idea how many people didn’t pay their rent because they knew they couldn’t get evicted during Covid. That isn’t free, someone was paying for it. The owner. I only see it one way, If you don’t pay you are stealing. Let’s go Brandon.

@@Imwright720 I agree with what the rent moratorium was meant to do. Help renters who were temporarily laid off from their job due to COVID by allowing them to defer the rent and to not be evicted for a certain amount of time. I do not agree with the way Unscrupulous people decided to take advantage of this moratorium and screw their landlord out of that back rent. Nobody said life was fair!

Don't waste your time with these commentors most have never been a landlord so they will never understand, with that being said this landlord should have abided by the law and not shut off the tenant's water I AGREE, some tenants make you want to pull a drive by on them I just sold one of my properties and will be moving to Arizona where the law favors the landlord and the police can kick out a non payer!

A dispute over unpaid rent, really what does it take to check if things were paid or not. There is more to this story, landlords don't just turn off water to good paying tenants.

Nope it is illegal for any property owner or landlord to shut off any utility under any circumstance unless the conveyance is unoccupied.. if people are living in the home no landlord has the authority to shut off your utilities it is against Florida law

Illegal. Yes you need to pay your rent. But running hot and cold water, and heat are mandatory in a rental. The landlord should be doing her due diligence and getting the eviction process going. Not turning off water. Ghetto.

It probably good idea if people would start to try and buy a home, instead of renting. Because as time goes by,. rent in the end only makes a person homeless, with endings out living on the outside.

Not everyone has the money to purchase their own home or condo especially if they are living on a fixed income which is most definitely the case with this gentleman who had his water illegally turned off. Have you taken a look at the current interest rates? 6% on average. Why don’t you front this poor guy the money Maxine West. Not everyone is in a financial position to purchase, and that is why they have no choice but except to rent.
