I did all my apothecaries the other day. I did mullen, ivy leaf, thyme, basil, oregano, made a ton of elderberry, rose hips, and juniper. I have also been making a bunch of different soaps for winter. I am going to give some away for Christmas presents and keep a bunch of them to last us through the winter. I have made a bunch of shower steamers for the cold season ahead of us. I have more thyme, basil and organo stitting in honey in jars. I am thinking about making cough drops with them.
That sounds wonderful. Would you consider adding videos about your preparations on your channel? I'd love to subscribe. Or do you have any additional resources you use to create your apothecaries that you'd like to share? Thanks.

So nice to wake up here in the NE US and see your video waiting for a view. Thank you Bella Loba for all that wonderful info. Applesauce is not really something we do here but it sounds so good and so healing, I will have to give it a try. x
I am a nester. Been preparing for winter. My house sits behind four pillars...11:11 across from potato fields, and is surrounded by Rowan. I am blessed, but have been a bit down. Yes! I noticed just the other day that, here in Colorado, some of the borage that went to seed in late summer has sprouted and bloomed. So odd. We also got a few lilac blossoms last month, which does happen occasionally if it doesn’t get cold before October. I loved seeing all of your pretty tinctures lined up. That is indeed a very safe and comforting feeling. Makes me want to go have a look at my own apothecary cupboard. Thanks for sharing all of your knowledge! I always look forward to your videos!

In my garden group people are commenting about things coming back into bloom for a second time that no one remembers happening before. I spent today mulching garden beds and baking chicken with rosemary. The smell in the house is very reassuring. It seems like smells can be very reassuring for us and I never focused on that before. We have been stocking up on herbs, firewood and things like canned pumpkin. Having a winter garden is also very reassuring. Hope you have a great week.
Having a busy week but all good. Smell is incredibly important as a smell or a scent can trigger the ancient part of the brain, which is where we also store memories. It is very interesting.
Wow…..your house must smell divine!!! 😉. I’m not one of those women happy going shopping for handbags and shoes. Not anymore. Used to when I was younger. Now, I’m happy when I see my cupboards and freezer full. But now, taking more notes from your video, making la list for more herbs shopping to put in the garden for next year, to make your tinctures, as it sounds great idea. Here in the middle of the states the trees are typically bare by mid-November. This year we still have remnants of the beautiful autumn colors on about half of them, hard freeze last night so those will be down soon. Seeing all your tinctures is inspiring, you certainly have been wise to prepare. I agree...taking a private jet to a climate summit tells the truth of how serious they are.
Wonderful abundance from your garden, all your tinctures ready for the dark season. Mother Earth must think we still need those plants that are flowering so late in the season.
Hello Terri ,everything about what you are doing resonates with me . Yes the weather here has been quite different .We live in Northern Ontario ,Canada and our first frost was over a moth later than usual. We now have the ground covered with snow - the fire in the wood stove keeps us cosy. I always feel the need to do my fall food storage - I am making sauerkraut with our cabbage and carrots- enough to get us through the winter when the spring greens begin again - potatoes are in the cellar - apples from our tree ,cored and sliced and frozen for winter desserts . I just cooked the last pumpkins - I froze the purée for winter soups and baking . Winter squash is in the cellar and we are still able to get kale for our morning smoothies- not sure how much longer -the rabbits have been visiting 🥰 We just put up a second greenhouse to extend our growing season - later harvest and earlier start of our seedlings - my husband made both but this one is designed so the snow slides off the roof without crushing it( looks like a little church 😊)our first one is wood construction also but we have to put the poly on in the spring and take it off in the fall . I have made tinctures and salves this year thanks to your inspiration . I was able to do a thyme tincture and a hawthorn tincture . I have made my calendula oil for salve and my dandelion oil for salve also . I have been making soap for years and still have a good supply. I have dried a lot of herbs for teas and the last of the seed collecting is done with the pumpkin seeds and shucking of the popcorn cobs. I always feel good about growing our own food and putting it up to have during the winter - there is great security in knowing one will keep warm if the power goes out and the pantry can sustain us during the dark months .
I find your videos so comforting Teri, I could sit and watch your for an hour! I’m recovering from the dreaded lurgy, and it knocked me for six! Prior to that I was involved in much activism, against this evil take over were being subjected to! Much love! 🌀🌿🦋
Very grateful to you Miranda, for your activism and I hope you are back to it soon, after a full recovery. You will be stronger than ever. Try some Fennel tea or Star Anise, along with Garlic and all the other respiratory herbs not to mention Vit C Vit D and Zinc xxx
Indeed, it's been a very strange autumn here too. It's like the plants are being tricked by the cold then warm days. It should have snowed a few times in eastern Canada by now...yet I also have new borage, nasturtiums, lemon balm, daisy... Thank you for another peaceful video. Dave
Hi Dave. Not sure what is causing this - climate change or the reduction in flights and travel in general? Maybe it is just one of those years where things get a bit confused.
We call it squirreling , for Peter it means making sure we have enough wood for heating .For me it's jams and preserves and some tinctures .I have always meant to try making soap.....perhaps next year
I only discovered this channel today and I love the amount of knowledge in the videos. I especially love hearing of old traditions and the medicinal use of herbs. I've been feeling a bit out of touch with everything and recently realised how important it is to respect traditions, that our ancestors might have been right about a lot more than we are. I can't wait for the next video from you!🌼Your channel is like a warm hug for the soul🤗🌻
Dear B you are very welcome here. So glad you have had a hug😀 I think our ancestors knew a lot more than we do. Make your connection with Nature and you will soon begin to feel much better and much more resiliant. xx
You have such great style. I loved the comment about the private jets.. made me chuckle.. sooooo true. In America, we are so spoiled, but I live by "less is best," to be honest.
Yes, Terri, I think the nesting and putting up is a memory in our genes.🙂 I always make my soap after harvest too. During the season, I infused rose petals in olive oil and when the hips turned, I dried them for tea (I'll use that for the sodium hydroxide). Coincidentally, my sis just gave me some rose essential oil. So, rose Castile it is! 🙂 Blessings for a lovely holiday season! 💜
Rose is showing up a lot lately for people as she is beneficial for the heart and for topical uses. I made my soap but think I will make some more now - thanks!
I really enjoy your lifestyle Terri! I grew up in a cold climate with winter storms, now I live in a subtropical environment. I still follow my 'instincts' of preparation and it has always been needed. I use herbal tinctures and hope to make my own from herbs beginning next Spring. You are such a BEAUTIFUL inspiration. It is such a JOY receiving your latest video!
Informative and interesting--thank you. I'm in Canada so preparation is making sure the heating is working and the boots are ready! There has already been some snow. 😊
What a lovely video. Thank you. I hope very much to be in a place again someday where I can do things like that. This year I am preparing for winter by sealing up my apartment against drafts. And against the cigarette smoke of the neighbors that comes through my walls more now that their windows are closed. Oh, for the day I can live in the country again. I'm also preparing my jewelry shop for the Christmas season. Thank you again for the lovely video. 🙏
Thank you for another informative and inspiring video Terri. I had to smile and nod in agreement when you mentioned your preparedness philosophy stemming from your early girl guide years! My husband frequently teases me about our well stocked apothecary and larder...but he and the rest of our family are grateful when Mum has just the thing to assist their bodies in returning to health. Please keep the sharing and inspiration coming...it is so needed at this time! xo

I always so enjoy your videos. Unfortunately my gardening days are behind me so I purchase whatever is needed. Your videos have inspired me to make tinctures from store-bought, ethically grown herbs. So I will be rewatching some of your videos. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and insights with us...from BC Canada.
I have not cleaned out the garden yet nor have I watered it. However, I noticed one of the tomato plant is insisting on putting out a single tomato. We are preparing this year by purchasing a freezer so that we can get a side of cow, raise meat chickens and a hog. I am working on my herbal skills to create items that normally we purchased. Recently, instead of buying new Swifter liquid I simply popped open the bottle and created my own mixture.
Here in Oregon, USA We made our soap for the year earlier but we’ve just finished our garden harvest all that is left are our carrots. Herbs we dry in the sun throughout the summer. Thank you for all your helpful advice.
It’s so gratifying to see all the jars on the shelves. This is one of my favorite times giving thanks for the harvest & helping Mother Nature ease into winter’s rest.
I've made elderberry oximel for my family this year and an infused elderberry honey that is so delicious. I have also made for sore throats, a honey ginger and sage infusion. So tasty made into a tea with lemon or alone. I have sent these and other things to my children and called them From Mom's Apothecary ". I have enjoyed and learned so much from your videos. Thank you Terri. Sending much Love and Gratitude
Love and gratitude to you too Sandra. I'm thrilled to hear that you made all these things and are passing them on to your children. They must be delighted to have such a thoughtful and caring mother. xx
I was wondering was it normal myself. I cooked fresh nettles last week but they actually didn't taste good. Lovely to see you yesterday in reality life 💕
My lavender has started to flower again as well, I thought it might be because I get it at the end of season on sale and potted it on, clearly not if your flowers are flowering.
In Canada where I live up north Ive never seen the snowfall be so late, we just got snow today, and Ive seen in years past the snow start Sept 6th the latest without a dump would be the the day after Halloween never to leave until the next spring. It's mild too right now usually were -10c during the day at least but at the moment were -1c so is quite warm, which I'm not complaining about! :)
Hi Terri. I was not able to comment for a couple of weeks, I must have annoyed UA-cam. I really like your videos and you and the music at the beginning. I've found lots of beds of new nettles also and I've been collecting them and drying for winter and include them in my herbal tea. I think for winter we should drink rosemary, thyme and sage tea even though its bitter. I've collected lots of hawthorn and rosehips and blackberries. They're in the freezer and some are dried. Please let me know if you see a Triskole pendant like yours in Galway, they don't have them in Dublin. God bless
Thankyou . I love the chickens.it is very mild still, my copper beech just lost her leaves.it is still warm at night. Blessings to you and your loved ones.xxxx🐝
I make my winter remedies in late October early November. I have elderberry syrup and tincture, fire cider, bee balm oxymel, willow bark tincture, skullcap tincture, mullein and marshmallow tincture, several types of tinctures for cough, and a cherry bark syrup. I haven't started to make laundry soap yet. I need to try someone's first to see if it irritates my skin.
Hello Terry, I made lavender infusion last week after watching your video on that, it smells so good, can't wait to try it. Also, while we lived in TN several yrs ago, we had several walnut trees and I made tincture from them, have plenty still, have a routine the first week of each month we take it daily. It does as the wormwood, also the walnut tincture can be usde topical for ring worms. I appreciate all the time and effort you put forth to bring wonderful information and encouragment to try and do. Have a lovely week. In Joy
Thank you Terri for all your wisdom & sharing it with us. Here in Scotland it has been unseasonably warm for November. Nature & the birds are confused.
Nice to see you preparing for the winter. It’s a bit odd in my neck of the woods this year too. We finally had a really good rain here in Northern California a couple of weeks ago. It was earlier than normal for rain to start, and I think the plants got an unusual boost which they craved so much since we are in a drought. Where I am we don’t get rain from May through September. Thanks to this nice drenching happening after the hottest days of summer, nothing has dried out. Many trees and plants look extra “perky” for November. Hopefully we’ll get consistent rain this year.
Thank you for your videos...so uplifting and educational, inspiring too! I love listening and watching. I also would like to say I greatly appreciate all the video of the outdoors in and around your home. I am of irish ancestory and would love to visit ireland in the future. I hope you continue all your ytube endeavors.
Thank you for your invaluable information! I’m stocking up as well~digging root crops, jarring up herbs, teas, tinctures & freezer is full~swiss chard and brussels sprouts and kale still in the garden growing!
Very nice presentation as always! I do plan for winter when the leaves start to fall. I enjoyed learning about your remedies and would like to try a couple so will look into that. Along with my planning, I enjoy cooking new healthy recipes on days that are too snowy/cold and I stay home. The new recipes keep me motivated and interested and they can be stored also! The doggies are so cute and I like the way the dogs and cats ran into the house when you were going in to begin - LOL - I also thought your skirt was very pretty! My yard looks like a fall-colored blanket over the lawn because of the many leaves falling - very lovely!! Thankyou from Canada.....:)
My orange tree is producing this year (never has before) and so many mushrooms are sprouting-I wish I was confident enough to know if anything is edible, lol. Thanks for the herb lesson Terry~I just bought some herbs from the health food store that I don’t grow. I will be making winter teas and I jotted down the ones you mentioned, a couple I don’t have, so another trip to the store this week. My husband is so stressed and I will offer him hawthorn on weekends when he’s home. Have a lovely week ✨♥️👍🏻
Poor husband. Breathing, relaxation, yoga and Hawthorn will help with any palpitations - you can get it as tea as well from the healthshop. There are other herbs too for stress and anxiety - Passiflora, Lemon Balm, Skullcap, Valerian amongst others - if he can speak to someone they may recommend those herbs.
Lovely. Can we have video of the "tipsy" chickens? Oh my, what a wonderful video. I love the the sharing of your knowledge and whit. Blessings and Peace, Kathy
I've been preparing for Winter by getting my staples like legumes, as well as making sure to get my herbs and spices now while I can and I've been preparing my oils, herbal vinegars, and salves now so that its ready when I need it. I'm going to also put together a blend so that I can use it for steams for my lungs when needed. I've got herbs hanging to dry as well! I can't have alcohol where I'm at so I've just been doing the herbal vinegars since I can't afford the glycerine to make the alcohol free tinctures. But the vinegars are great because I can use it for food as well! I'm going to get some herbs next week that I can infuse in oil and make into a salve for my chest for my lungs when I get sick, like a replacement for Vicks Vaporub.
Hi Joyce. Try to work out the cause of the anxiety and see how you can reduce it. Breathing can help too. I do 4 in, hold for 4, out for 4 and then hold for 4. This regulates the Vagus nerve and can help reduce anxiety. Good luck
I admire you and your beautiful, holistic practices. Thank you for being a genuine spirit. From new nettles here in the far Northern Scottish Highlands, xoxo
You are so inspiring Terri! I’m working hard in the garden to grow verges and herbs … fermenting and trying my hand at tinctures!! So exciting. I’ve been discouraged from this sort of thing by others for too long! It is so healing to do all this and my faith in the God who created us and all these good things to enjoy, keeps me going and gives me hope in these trying times! Thank you for the blessing that you are!!😊
Don't allow people to discourage you!!! Enjoy your garden and enjoy your herbs and healthy foods. Especially important in these times xx You can do it Alison xx
Getting ready for winter has been fun. I made your Fire Cider Vinegar, Blackberry Oxymel and will make a mullein concoction as well. I've got a thyme garlic oxymel started. After seeing your video about oxymels I"ve come up with all kinds of ideas for them. I'd never heard of them till your video. I had made infused oils and tea/s prior to oxymels but the oxymels seem to work much better. I really like them. Im in Maine, USA just barely south of Canada so Im making sure I have candles, oil lamps, alternative heat, warm boots etc for winter and lots of cold remedies. Thank you for sharing with us. @@DanusIrishHerbGarden No, we usually get most of our snow late Jan to Mar. sometimes we get small snows periodically Nov and Dec. Very strange year this. I live in sweden and it has been a very much too warm summer and the autumn is here but it's too warm. I also sleep very bad right now due to to warm inside the house. Did you notice the skys when there were barely no airplanes? Last summer, first summer of the big C... The skys were as I remembered the when I was little. We just put up a second greenhouse to extend our growing season - later harvest and earlier start of our seedlings - my husband made both but this one is designed so the snow slides off the roof without crushing it( looks like a little church 😊)our first one is wood construction also but we have to put the poly on in the spring and take it off in the fall .
It sounds mutual. Being warm and cosy with a larder well stocked and home made remedies prepared - what could be better😀
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden thanks Teri! Yes I will try the star anise and fennel to! 🌀x
You are wonderful inspirational ..🙂
Thanks Bert, you are wonderful too.💪
Indeed, it's been a very strange autumn here too.
We call it squirreling , for Peter it means making sure we have enough wood for heating .For me it's jams and preserves and some tinctures .I have always meant to try making soap.....perhaps next year
All of it Mary - the tinctures, the preserves, getting the turf in and snuggling down.😃
I only discovered this channel today and I love the amount of knowledge in the videos.
Make your connection with Nature and you will soon begin to feel much better and much more resiliant. xx
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden thank you🤗
It is very comforting to see preparations being made for winter.
When all the work is done you can relax without feeling guilt and snuggle down with a good book.
You have such great style. I loved the comment about the private jets.. made me chuckle.. sooooo true. In America, we are so spoiled, but I live by "less is best," to be honest.
Less IS best - I agree. Less means having less to worry about and less waste to worry about. x
Yes, Terri, I think the nesting and putting up is a memory in our genes.🙂
I always make my soap after harvest too. During the season, I infused rose petals in olive oil and when the hips turned, I dried them for tea (I'll use that for the sodium hydroxide). Coincidentally, my sis just gave me some rose essential oil. So, rose Castile it is! 🙂
Blessings for a lovely holiday season!
Glad to hear you are going to make your own herbal tinctures. Herbs from your own environment. Thank you so much for watching.
Wonderful Danu, thankyou I've decided to start doing what you are doing. X
That's great Sandra. Go for it!
I absolutely love your video. Allways helpful. Greetings from Holland.💚🌱
Greetings to you Yamina! Welcome.
Informative and interesting--thank you. I'm in Canada so preparation is making sure the heating is working and the boots are ready! There has already been some snow. 😊
You are welcome Carol. Snow - that's good to hear, sounds like normal weather.
Lovely to be in the kitchen with you, Terri and see you engaged on these homely yet empowering activities.
Lovely to have you with me! x
🕊Thank you 🤗👸🏻❤🌍✨💛🌍✨💚🌍✨🕊
You are welcome Eve Rose, Glad you liked it.
Good luck with your shop and hope you can get to the country again. xx
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden Thank you! Hugs.
A lovely video, thank you!
Thank you Laura!
Please keep the sharing and inspiration coming...it is so needed at this time! xo
Ha ha - well at least they are grateful, that is a big thing. My early Girl Guide years and inner Virgo!!😀 Thank you for watching Trinalea

Hello Mossie! I am glad to hear you have been inspired to make your own tinctures. Good luck with them. x
Good for you! Doing things yourself is so much more empowering.
I had no idea all this existed, thank you.
Yes - and more! Most of it is on your doorstep. x
Beautiful ❤️
Thank you Terri ❤️🙏🕊
Thanks for watching Abby. x
I love this video. I really need to get your book 📖
Thanks Debra. Please do!😃
Thank you Terry, yes a very strange season I ma still picking Lavender ! Also we still have Borage flowering too in the hills of Co Mayo
My Lavender does not have flowers but it is looking very sprightly! Almost as if it is about to make a comeback. Strange times in more ways than one😃
Here in Oregon, USA We made our soap for the year earlier but we’ve just finished our garden harvest all that is left are our carrots. Herbs we dry in the sun throughout the summer. Thank you for all your helpful advice.
Thank you Amanda! - I have a few carrots and beetroots and kale. Busy time of year!
It’s so gratifying to see all the jars on the shelves. This is one of my favorite times giving thanks for the harvest & helping Mother Nature ease into winter’s rest.
Morning Terry. Lovely video. I esspecially apriciated learning . About the herbs. 🧚
That's good Christa - glad you liked it and got something out of it too. x
Agree with your jet comment🙂
Ha ha ! Some people are very hypocritical it would seem
They must be delighted to have such a thoughtful and caring mother. xx
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden they believe as we do, that they work. 💚
I was wondering was it normal myself. I cooked fresh nettles last week but they actually didn't taste good. Lovely to see you yesterday in reality life 💕
Great to see you too - really enjoyed the whole day and our conversations xx
My lavender has started to flower again as well, I thought it might be because I get it at the end of season on sale and potted it on, clearly not if your flowers are flowering.
Who knows? Very interesting to remain observant and to hear of other's experiences.
Much warmer than usual!
God bless
Rosemary Thyme and Sage are perfect winter tea herbs. If I see one I will let you know although I don't go into Galway very often.
I make chutneys and fruit syrups for winter
I do that to. It all adds to a lovely feeling of security.
Thankyou . I love the chickens.it is very mild still, my copper beech just lost her leaves.it is still warm at night. Blessings to you and your loved ones.xxxx🐝
Blessings to you Linda, warm here at night too.
Sounds like a well stocked apothecary.! I don't think the laundry liquid will irritate - it's just soap and water really.
I have noticed , strange growth . By my trees .Flowering Pears .Peach trees . Growth spirt in Macadamia .
Mother Earth is trying to help us i believe.
In Joy
I have tried to grow Walnut here but to no avail. Good to know it works topically too. Enjoy your Lavender products. Blessings xx
Thank you Terri for all your wisdom & sharing it with us. Here in Scotland it has been unseasonably warm for November. Nature & the birds are confused.
I hope the birds don't get too far ahead of themselves and then their chicks come when it finally gets cold.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Thank you Debra - I believe we are all powerful and can share and help others along.
Sending blessings for rain for Northern California. xx
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden Thank you very much.

Your videos are lovely for a Sunday morning relaxing.. my lemon balm is putting on new growth
Mine is too in the polytunnel. Thanks BeeFree. x
Your yard sounds beautiful. Being under the trees at this time of year is like being in a natural cathedral with natural stained glass
🥰🐾✨
Hi Terri. Your videos are such a comfort. Like a warm hug. Thank you!

So glad to hear that you find them interesting and helpful. xx
Very informative, I enjoy all of your videos. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you Dili xx
Lovely video, as always. Woke up to two inches of snow this morning, in Michigan, USA.
Hello Oceanluv - hope you are prepared and are getting cosy!
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden Thank you, yes woodstove going, all warm and cozy.
Loved this I’m struggling with bad anxiety and palpitations thank you Terri x x x
Hi Joyce. Try to work out the cause of the anxiety and see how you can reduce it. Breathing can help too. I do 4 in, hold for 4, out for 4 and then hold for 4. This regulates the Vagus nerve and can help reduce anxiety. Good luck
You are such an inspiration Terri. Thank you 🙏🏼
You are so kind - thank you Melonie xx
This year my only winter prep has simply been too make sure the blankets are clean and ready for the cold weather. Afraid I’m a little behind
Blankets are something we have all forgotten about. Thanks for reminder. x

It has been such a crazy year!
In so many ways!!!???!!!!
Yes, it is supposed to be 71 F tomorrow here. Very unusual for Missouri in November. Great to see you Terri as always
Missouri! Thought you would have had snow by now.
@@DanusIrishHerbGarden No, we usually get most of our snow late Jan to Mar. sometimes we get small snows periodically Nov and Dec. Usually a dusting or two by the end of the year but I wouldn't really call that snow, especially cuz the next day it can be in the upper 50s and its like it never happened.
No clouds at all for so many weeks and the air was fresh and clear. I said to my husband to enjoy it while it lasts because we will never again see the blue sky like this again.
It is very warm here in bed too. It was much better without all the airplanes flying over.
