Aloy’s fun to use… until you want to get her Serenetea loot, and you see her get waifuified and considering how anathema dependancy is to her character and how intolerant she is of people who wax poetic,* well, it’s immensely disturbing.
She's got her shit together, more so than a _lot_ of characters in Horizon, even some very well-to-do folks, so seeing her suddenly falling for Traveler-kun kind of makes my skin crawl.
*In Horizon, there's an entire religious caste who drive her crazy with their political machinations and sophistry. They're not the villains, they just make life difficult for her because she gives no shits about their expectations of her, since they all decide who she is the moment they see her and get very cranky when she challenges that belief for as selfish and puerile a reason as that she doesn't like pretending to be stupid for the sake of stroking an old bigot's ego. And yes, they are all mercilessly disabused of their assumptions. Aloy is among the strongest female MCs in gaming, right up there with Samus.
