    I'm going to have hiatial hernia surgery in a few months (after Thanksgiving and Christmas). Your video helps with my concerns about pain afterward. The surgeon just says she'll send me home with pain medication. That doesn't answer my question. Reading between the lines, I take it as there will be considerable pain. Your video is comforting. Thank you.

    Your video came up on my feed, because last year I searched the internet high and low for TIF procedure. I had the procedure a little over one year ago. I'm always bloated. I feel even more uncomfortable now. The acid reflux is gone, but no amount of gas-X stops the bloating. I've never burped in my life and it's 24-7. I hope that you're not having this issue.

    • @frank_umm
      @frank_umm  Рік тому +3

      So sorry! I did have that issue (not able to burp and bloating) initially but it went away and I'm able to burp again. It took a few weeks but i "learned" to burp again, just was a bit differently. That was my fear with Nissen in that burning might not be be possible any longer after the procedure...
      Overall I am doing well and feel like my normal self. Have you spoken with doctors on why the bloating? Hope you find some relief. I know it's hard and you have a procedure hoping to get better and when it doesn't work...AWFUL!

    • @frank_umm
      @frank_umm  2 роки тому +2

      Talk with your doc to be sure. But...at 5 months out, I was lifting that + . 52 lb. dumbbells actually. Which is the heaviest I have. I NEVER, NEVER did anything like squats or deadlifts or anything like that with that heavy a weight though. Only thing I did that heavy was chest press on the floor. And...very, very careful about how I got the weight up to my chest. (Takes an unusual technique to get through weights where I needed them). Talk to your doc. Just because I did it doesn't mean u should. I am no doc so cannot advise you on what you can or cannot do

      @frank_umm  6 місяців тому +1

      I am sure that will depend, but from what I understand and was the case for me, they want you to stay overnight for observation to make sure that everything is okay. I did not want to stay in the hospital myself but if it is what they need to do and part of the process...it is what it is. It felt relatively quick as well. Not fun, but again, is what it is

    how is a hiatal hernia repair and tif possible together? I was told that if you have a hiatal hernia, I need to have a Nissan. I really want the tif though. can someone please explain this?

    • @frank_umm
      @frank_umm  Рік тому +1

      You'll have to ask your doc. I don't know the specifics, but, I most certainly had a TIF and hiatal hernia repair. 2 surgeons. The 1st doc did the hernia repair and the 2nd did the TIF which he specialized in. One of us is getting misinformation. Either way, my procedure/surgery was done July 21 and I have felt great since that procedure and medications they put me on. I'd do it again if I had to. I also did NOT want the Nissen for various reasons, nor the linx. I found the doc in my city who did the TIF and got it done. Although I had a hernia, my understanding is that you can have the TIF without hiatal hernia or hiatal hernia repair without a TIF. I'm not a doc so don't know for sure but getting multiple opinions like I did was very worth it. One doc I saw was NOT great and said stay on PPI forever despite risks or do Linx. I chose neither and went to another doc. There are other options...at least for me.

    • @zendalet1796
      @zendalet1796 Рік тому

      @@frank_umm Thanks for your detailed answer. Do you workout? I was wondering if small weight lifting is okay after youre healed. I heard doctors say you gotta stay below 50 lbs with the Nissen because extremely heavy weight can mess up the sutures. I wonder wondering if it is different for TIF since it doesnt involve sutures. Did you doc mention this? And lastly, are you completely acid free these days? I am assuming u dont take PPI anymore

    • @frank_umm
      @frank_umm  Рік тому +1

      @zendalet1796 I've done various videos specifically on medications, exercise, etc. that explain. Yes, I can and do lift weights. I stay away from very heavy stuff, not because docs said but because I choose too. Not willing to risk it. I did wait 6 weeks post surgery to exercise as docs recommended. I took PPIs only in very beginning. No more than a month or 2. Didn't want side effects. I have videos on this specifically, too.

    If you didn't throw up, did the hospital give you anti nausea medications?

    • @frank_umm
      @frank_umm  2 роки тому +2

      No. Only reason I got nauseated was moving around a bit. Other than that, I was fine. My understanding is that they REALLY, REALLY do not want u to throw up either. Not after this procedure. Try not to cough, etc. Anything that could pull apart the plastic stitches.
