2023 still skating G&S boards. In the 80s and 90s I grew up in San Diego and G&S was just part of the culture. Stoked they are dropping modified 80s and 90s boards still.
That first shot of Neil skating in the vid was Kona's pool before the Team Pain makover. 90% of the deep end was oververt and the hip jutted waaay out. Challenging to ride due to potholes but wrapping carves around it was tops. I miss that old thing...
much props & praise to a wreal mafuckn original..innovator...creator..painter..fawkn shreddOR!!!!!!!!!! when i was a wee teen in anchorage, alaska round 1988 or 89..Neil& Jessie Martinez wrolled thru and fuckn killed it. spoke with neil& he was fuckn so much comedy! much luv from AK.
Back then they would have been beaten up or ridiculed to the point they would have never showed up at the skateparks. Although most of us skated backyard ramps, I had a vert ramp back in the late 80's through 90's, there would have been a no scooter policy had they existed and I never allowed bmx riders on my ramp as those guys would have jacked up my sheet metal surface like they did at the skateparks. The sad thing is it was us skaters that built the parks that everyone else used back then.
yeah man, and indoor spine with wall ride was in Cincy, the unique spine ramp before that was Dayton Ohio, my home town, that's where I first met Neil...Then came Alien Workshop, one year later...
wasn't gonna watch this because i can't stand VHS footy but damn. i enjoyed this shit a lot. it's also weird knowing wasn't even a thought when this dude was shredding.
Honestly, I never really understood the Neil Blender mystique? Is it because he has an edgy name, "invented" some tricks that were born out of a lazy sketchy style - catching a fall with one foot on the board? His art? Come on, most pot-smokers have seen a variance of those face paintings before. Oh yeah, the cutting edge video productions? - his sponsors just adding fooling-around filler because they could not fill his time slot with solid tricks. You be the judge.
neil blenders prime was before people filmed videos. at the time when people were doing basic stuff he was pushing boundaries and doing tricks that seemed impossible.
Blender was the Godfather of the alternative skate video...
I watched this part a thousand times as a kid. Skating was more about style than anything back then, both on and off the board.
He's the essence of Skateboarding. He keeps it real.
100% og serious tea drinker
6:20 handplants on the spine ramp where you go around the ramp are hilarious never seen that
"It's 1990 boys, lets get rid of the Skeletons"
it's 2021, lets get rid of the industry
Whoosh
He’s a widdler

Damn I was wrong, then. Thought it was the 15 footer from Upland
Macho Tail Drop at the end. I never knew that's where it came from.
Neil was never one of the "best" but god was he influential. One of the most unique skaters ever.
1988. Neil Blender and Steve Claar show up at our ramp in Utah. Crazy.
I love you, Neil Blender.

one of my all time favorites
4:06 1st pro-model I ever bought. As far as skeleton graphics were concerned…that Corey O’ Brian graphic was sick.
King of style
To the 19 Thumb Downers, have you ever stepped on a skateboard or are you happy just riding your skooters?
So I guess the movie macho taildrop was named after that clip at the end. Coool

Neil Mountain & Lance Blender. Kindred spirits.
So goddamn good.
Who's the homeless dude at the beginning? I guess Lance Mountain was busy to introduce Neil.
Sums up real skateboarding for me......on another level. Don't bore with how industry heavy you are.
Incredible...genius
P&G og cincy spot, that wall ride is so gnarly
yeah man, and indoor spine with wall ride was in Cincy, the unique spine ramp before that was Dayton Ohio, my home town, that's where I first met Neil...Then came Alien Workshop, one year later...

6:49 This is Sunsports Skatepark in Columbus, Ohio
Yep. That place was so fun. A park in a strip mall. Crazy even back then.
Anyone know the song when he's on the beach?
Neil's probably the most similar skater to the Gonz, his own brand.
Best graphics.

1:20 hope my coffee machine doesn't blow up
Cool...

If you have that low level of game with girls it’s best never to talk and see if one just starts following you around

5:13 the old falcon skate park Huntington, WV. Fucking city tore it down.
Yep. Did you ever get to go??
If you look close in the background when Neil is riding that is either John Drake or Ron Patrick that owned Iguana.
4:09 i got to ride an all '89 obrien complete once
Love those indoors mini ramps that looks really trashed, with graffiti on the walls.
G&S with those trucks you can GRIND EVERYTHING ! but they 're a kind of weak ... in the time :) so muck souvenirs.
how tall is this dude?
But will it blend?

The Macho Taildrop is a sure way to get chicks.

just jealous you can't relax like Blender...
neil blenders prime was before people filmed videos. at the time when people were doing basic stuff he was pushing boundaries and doing tricks that seemed impossible.
If you don't get Neil Blender, you never will. Too bad for you Lou Lou.
Blender is free from the things that lock you up
You really think “Neil Blender” is an edgy name? 😆
Mark Gonzales must scare the shit out of you.
90 was a wicked yr
Not even ugly girls will talk to Neil...SAD
