I've got the MG4 standard range great every day drive around town and to the shops and with the LFP you can leave it charging from solar all day but now looking at a used Tesla model 3 for trips down to the French ski results the LFP MG4 is crap in the cold but apart from that I prefer the drive of the MG and the buttons 😊
I'm so jealous you can drive to the alps! Spent xmas in Meribel years ago and it was magic - hoping to get to France or Italy snowboarding for xmas 2024 as we have an Epic pass that cover Les 3 vallees and skirama dolomiti. I guess it does get a LOT colder where you are, in Melbourne Australia it doesn't really get below 10C that much.
Great review, cleared up some points for me. I drove the model 3 performance and the x power. Both felt brutally fast and enjoyable. What I did notice was that Tesla dropped its side mirror when reverse parking, so you don't damage the alloy wheels. Tesla wins for charging stations, route guidance, efficiency, battery distance and the Sentary camera security. MG wins on price.
Pretty much my thoughts exactly. And for a lot of people, the price difference (which is significant) and the hatchback practicality will overcome the differences you've mentioned
You forgot the byd seal for 50k. Personally, I couldn't live with the Tesla display and controls, especially the speed out of the driver sight line and all operation from said screen. I also find the subscription model offensive when you own a product, you pay for an upgrade it should be yours not Tesla's to take away.
Yep forgot the seal - did mention it at 21:39. Pretty keen to have a drive of one, very sharply priced and will take a lot of ICE sales at that price point. Hoping to make a vid on one if there's a Melbourne owner happy let me drive it for half an hour! The location of the speedo on the main display is really a nonissue after 5 minutes driving it. I'm not too fussed about tesla subscriptions, the only one is premium connectivity and I only had it for the first month as a trial and haven't really missed it since (I don't need satellite view on my map, too confusing). Could be worse, I think BMW was charging per month for apple carplay, or heated seats or some crap like that.
Can I ask 2 things, 1st I heard in summer the Tesla glass roof is so hot, you need a hat to stop head burning and 2nd question which car has the better top leg room left to right, as in not squashed in thighs when doors closed
Depending on where you live - but yes despite the roof being tinted or UV protected or whatever, it gets a bit warm especially if you're bald on top like me. I do have a removable sunshade for the roof which I put on at the hottest times in summer. Must be worse if you're somewhere more sunny like Queensland. As for width (rear seats with three people I'm guessing?) I didn't really check that - but I'd say the Tesla would be marginally better as it's about 10cm wider than the MG4.
@@bozugarage Thanks, I live in Melbourne, so not to hot, re seats, I mean drivers seats in the only 2 EVs I've sat in were so tight, like take my ice car, not big, but enough front driver space to sit with legs relaxed in a v angle, seems in the EVs, they make this area have no room for big men with muscluar legs, so I would be uncomfortable with long drive, hence I haven't found ev yet with good top leg room in drivers seat area.
@@marcjost509 I don't understand why there would be no room for the driver for your feet, given there is no big engine under the front bonnet. I have two EV's that are designed from the ground up as EV's (not a converted ICE vehicle) and find the internal packaging must bigger than the equivalent size ICE vehicle based on external dimensions.
@@GDM22 not feet, the top leg area, because they use transmission tunnel hinge area to jack that up higher than ice cars, then put door bar at same level, so when doors closed, you sit jammed in at top of legs like women in miniskirt 😄

I test drove the M3 Performance & the XPower. Chose the XPower and very happy, especially with the money saved.
Can't argue with many thousands of dollars saved, plus you can probably fit something in the back of an MG4!
Shop around - grabbed an xpower for 59k
Good review I enjoy listening to you! Look forward to more!

Excellent video, thank you so much!
Great content X power PCP . Dig mat green
Concurred. Am going for the 64kwh. The driving range tradeoff is too huge.....can't afford the range anxiety
Have you got your car yet? And a funny thing about range anxiety, the longer you own an EV, the less of an anxiety it becomes.

Ditto , worse than X power & not as stealth
Tesla for the SC network route planning, any thing else MG4 x cause mine was £34,000 for 430hp and 600nm.
Just bought a 3000 mile one for under 25k bargain
Is that a blue MG4 I see at the back?
Yep wife's MG4 see from 20:54 onwards. Have done quite a few vids on that car on my channel
Do you find the ride height of the xpower to be higher than the Base model Mg4 in your garage?
Ah, didn't really compare ride heights between those two. But I hear the Xpower is marginally higher than a base model MG4?
