actually Serbian borders was at 3 Seas - Corinthian Gulf to the south , The border in the west was the Adriatic, and in the east the Aegean Sea. As an Albanian I have nothing against Serbs. Maybe it's because I live in England and I dont have that constant reminder of the hatred of Serbians. Both the Albanian and Serbian Government have manipulated the truth so we would both hate each other. The crimes the Serbs did against the Albanians and the crimes the Albanians did against the Serbs are both the Governments fault, those of higher power and not the people themselves, even if they were involved in it. It would be nice to have peace within both of our states, have a unity, some sort of brotherhood and leave this hatred behind. At the end of the day we both have similar goals and that's to provide for our familys and do what's best for us and the future. But until both the Serbs and Albanians decide to stop hating and forgive each other, this feud will stay there and it will just cause more needless conflict which will cause more deaths. Leave the hatred and let GOD be the judge of what should be done. Let's not take judgement into our own hands, we only know a part of the truth but GOD knows all, and in the end he will bring judgement against those who caused all this mess in the first mate. God Bless both the Albanians, Serbs and whatever ethnical background you may have.

I'm a Serb and my parents always put sooo much value on understanding my history and culture, but I never listened because children don't wanna talk about war (lol), but they never told me to hate anybody, instead they said an Orthodox Christian that is not able to forgive is no Christian. I can say for sure that Serbs are very hated and have a lot of enemies (I have a lot of experience, really everybody hates us) but to hate the ones that hate you makes you just as bad, a Slav with hatred inside their heart is no true Slav and no true Serb. But the current situation is very challenging for Serbia because many don't want to forget their history, their suffering and their success and our culture, and Kosovo (sorry, I had to) but at the same time remembering the brutality of the past can easily infect a heart with hatred, so many Serbs try to balance this.
And then there the ones that don't care. LOL no but really, many Serbs just don't care about culture or Albanians or pretty much anything, they just don't care.

You are right Charles. When Yugoslavia broke apart alot of people say they have gained their dependants. When in fact that independents cost alot of their own people's lives.

Correction! Serbs don't hate Albanians, or Bosnjaks, or Croatians or anyone else! It's the trut! But they, absolutely, can't trust Albanians and those who openly expressing hate towards anything that is serbian. We don't teach children to hate anyone, not even our so-called enemies . And anyone who knows that genocide over Serbs happend THREE TIMES last century, can only conclude, that no matter what , if nothing else, Serbs are capable of tolerance and forgiveness, what is very very rare in the world. Proof of that is tthe fact , that you can be anyone and walk free through Serbia while if you are Serb, you can't go to Kosovo even though, is officially part of Serbia, or you may have very unpleasant experience. The same is in many parts of Croatia or Bosnia. If you can , visit this countries, say that you are Serb and see the reaction.

there are albanians in my city in serbia and they have no problem living here for few generations i dont hate them .most of them are really nice in fact but i cant agree on things that are happening on kosovo witch doesn't mean if some kind of feir solution could be made on kosovo i wouldn't be for it but i guess are interests are so far away that i dont see any time soon happening. also there are possibilities same happening in macedonia and montenegro so that game could be played over over and stepping back wouldnt be a solution. we really are not that eager to join e.u .maybe our politicians are but people not so much . we would like to have good legal system in our country but that is problem of the whole balkan region even the lands that are in e.u .

It's not just about the Battle of Kosovo. It's about the fact that the very first Serbian country (long before the Ottoman Empire came) was founded on the grounds of Kosovo i Metohija.

You can't say that Aleksandar Vučić and Tači sit together and laugh to Serbian people who suffer there in Kosovo, because it is a really serious conflict and very hard situation and real danger nowadays. It is probably the case with US president (D. Tramp) since we know how he feels about the rest of the world. With all my respect for you Charles and all you did for Serbia, you should think twice what you speak about Vučić, because he is also your president now, since you live in Serbia for 10 years. Vučić is a real patriot and he really cares about his folks downthere who live in fear and extreme danger every day, surrounded by Shiptari. He doesn't eat caviar with politicians from Kosovo. I believe that before us- Croats, Albanians were the first people known as ILIRS which the lived in balkan for more than a century. That is the true history. I'm an Albanian who grew up n the States (Illinois-just like you ;), I feel fortunate to NOT have grown up in an environment that would have poisoned my mind against certain groups of people. But I'm certain by now based on all the years you have spent living abroad in Serbia, you must surely have learned that the history of the Balkans is a complex one and not so easily compared to that of the United States.

I hope you see this Charles, just to give you a better insight into our relationship and hospitality when it comes to Albanians, although you know a lot since you've lived in Serbia, and you've done your research. Just a little more insight first hand. I'm a Serbian living in Serbia my entire life, and I've never been taught to hate Albanians, in fact I don't know any fellow Serbian who was taught that. It's just that, as you get more informed about the situation in Kosovo and Serbia-Albania relationship, you gain some hatred along the way since what Albania is doing to OUR territory is absolutely not right by any means. However, we still don't hate the Albanians, or the Albanians living in Kosovo, not at all. I have a lot of Albanians living in my village, and my grandfather works in a Albanian bakery. He is so cool with them, and they are actually really nice people. It's just the governments of both sides that make this a hatred rivalry. And I've never had any problems with Albanians that I've come accross, but that's because they were nice and we never got to the point of Kosovo topic, and as long as it is like that, I'll never have any problems with that. It's just simple, their government wanted our land for so long, and our corrupted government sold it a long time ago. That's all.
But what to do?
I'm an orthodox albanian, I have nothing but respect for serbs.
I'm an ex atheist now back to my orthodox roots, but how can I look at the balkans with hope?
