Patsy was known for supporting up and coming female country music singers. She took Loretta Lynn, who became the most successful female country singer of her time, under her wing and showed her the ropes.
Even though she was killed in a plane crash in 1963, I was almost 4, I remember her songs played on the radio all through the 60s. I Fall to Pieces and Crazy are my favorites. Great reaction and great delivery on the crazy joke.
The song "Blue" was written by Bill Mack and was set to be recorded before her death. Mack shelved the song until he heard a 13 year LeAnn Rimes sing "Crazy". For Patsy, check out "Walkin After Midnight" and "Faded Love"
Patsy Cline has one of the best country voices around. Patsy had so many great hits such as "She's Got You", "When I Get Through With You", "Sweet Dreams", "So Wrong", "Leavin' on Your Mind", "Walkin' After Midnight", "I Fall To Pieces" "San Antonio Rose", "Blue Moon Of Kentucky", "Half As Much", "He Called Me Baby", "Faded Love", "Imagine That". She was only 31 when she died in a plane crash in 1963. In 1985 Jessica Lange starred in the movie about Patsy's life called "Sweet Dreams". Home Free does a beautiful cover of "Crazy".
Some friends and I drove to the site of her plane crash to pay our respects. The crash happened in the middle of a forest in Tenesee. When we got to where it happened there was a few other people and we all had a nice time talking about Patsy and her beautiful music. Loved your thoughtful reaction.
Willie Nelson is a huge legend in both the Country world AND in other music areas too. His catalog of songs is massive. He sings and he writes music for other artists as well.
Excellent, nobody could sing like Patsy and she died much too young. You must do a reaction to a song released after her death, Sweet Dreams. One of the saddest break up songs ever recorded.
Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn. Best friends and contemporaries. Two of the most iconic voices to ever grace us with song. Fascinating life stories - check out, “Sweet Dreams” (Patsy’s biopic) and “Coal Miners Daughter” (Loretta’s biopic). You won’t regret it! Pick *any* of their songs from *any* of their several ‘Greatest Hits’ albums. You’ll have a hard time picking a favorite, but a good time trying! Ohh, this is gonna be fun! Then you can sample LeAnn Rimes. Discovered at age 13 and compared to Patsy Cline, LeAnn recorded a song “Blue” originally written for Patsy Cline but not recorded before her death. Just a few more rabbit holes to dive into! So much music…so little time! Great reaction. I love watching your expressions as the talent hits you. More please!
This was my mum's favourite song. We were best friends as well as mother & daughter and loved going shopping or just out for coffee. She passed away 12 years ago. A few months after she passed I went out shopping alone. I was in this shop in the dressing room trying on a couple of tops when I heard my mum call my name. I stopped and said aloud "Is that you mum?" and then felt silly that I had said that aloud. (Nobody else was in the change rooms). Just then the shop started playing this song. I knew then that my mum was with me ❤
I 100% recommend you going down the Patsy Cline "rabbit hole." "I Fall To Pieces," "Walking After Midnight," "She's Got You" & mine and my late mother's favorite song of hers, "Sweet Dreams."
Patsy's voice, every single time, takes me to a place I've never been before. Taken from us was way to soon in that horrific plane crash. Patsy was from Winchester Va. As a child I lived not that far from her modest home. She got her big break on the Arthur Godfrey Talent Show. Sweet Dreams is one of my favorites and her last. 😢
Congratulations! You have just heard one of the most beautiful songs ever written. ❤ Where would the would be without American music? .... or just music
Her style and that texture of her voice is fantastic. She honestly gives me goosebumps. This era of music usually doesn't do much for me. But this woman's voice was uniquely great. Not to mention, Willie showed with the out writing this one!! And that keyboard! Ps. Motown in the sixties was 🔥 ☺️
An additional note about Willie Nelson writing this song: apparently in its first drafts it was called "Stupid". Imagining this song with that one lyric change always makes me giggle.
To put the age of this song into perspective I was born the year this was released and I am now 63. Some things simple don't be better over time and music is one of them.
I am so very grateful for the upbringing I had, being introduced to so many different types of music. I was laughed at and teased for listening to country and classical music, but I didn't give a flip! 😄I'd disappear into my own world, listening to what I wanted to, while making my paper dolls or writing poetry. Loretta Lynn (my Queen!), Tanya Tucker (heir to the throne), and Patsy Cline were among the first I was exposed to. If the spirit moves you, take a listen to the vocal love child of Patsy Cline and Linda Ronstadt, LeAnn Rimes, sing "Blue".
She was a huge talent. kd lang used to say she might be the reincarnation of Patsy Cline, and even named her first band The Reclines. You can hear the influence she had on kd.
I think someone mentioned Patsy’s influence on k.d.lang. When she first started out as a country singer, k.d. called herself “the reincarnation of Patsy Cline.” Two powerful, amazing vocalists. 👍
Oh wow! Patsy! This is an oldie but goodie! So glad to see this one pop up! I know I say this often but this really is a fun journey through old memories and songs that I haven't heard in awhile. Thank you!
Hey Saeed, I loved your reaction to Patsy Cline! I grew up listening to her as my mother was a fan and I have most of her albums in my collection, left to me by my mother. Your little joke was very funny and made me laugh out loud, my extremely large puppy looked at me and wondered if something was wrong with me which made me laugh even louder! She is a pure bred English Black Labrador and at 6 and a half months old weighs 70 pounds already, in case you were wondering about her! Her parents are enormous, like little ponies! FABULOUS reaction! Deb
Floyd Cramer's delicate, unmistakable piano fills take this song to heaven. Floyd soon went from first call session player to top rank solo artist, and then a legend who influenced a generation of keyboardists.
@@johnk275 Found this online. "When she left the hospital, her forehead was still visibly scarred. For the remainder of her career, she wore wigs to hide the scars and headbands to relieve pressure on her forehead"
Thanks for this… Willie Nelson transcends genre… he has always been a ‘Country’ musician who couldn’t be pigeon holed. Patsy had a great voice, perfect for this song.
Ahh, Patsy..what a beautiful voice she had. Another one we lost too soon. She took Loretta under her wing when she heard Loretta Lynn singing a tribute to her when she was in the hospital after a car accident. They became basically inseparable and did a duet early in Loretta's music career. Loretta named one of her twins after Patsy. We lost Patsy in a plane crash. Thank you for reacting to her, my dear friend. She had many hits in her short life. Yes, "I Fall To Pieces" was a huge hit by her. Much love to you and your family ❤️ 🫂.
Thanks, Saeed.. Patsy was amazing.. one of my favorites by her is "Walkin' After Midnight"... but all the others suggested... I really appreciate your reaction and look forward to more... (you can tell by her voice that Patsy could actually "yodel" if she wanted to... lol)
Nothing like the beautiful unique voice of Patsy Cline . Thanks for sharing this with us. Btw if you can please react to Patsy's Sweet dreams, the last song she recorded before age was killed in an airplane crash
Patsy was very good friends with Loretta Lynn. Loretta even named one of her twin daughters Patsy. Patsy Cline died in a plane crash when she was way too young .
Willie Nelson also penned "Funny How Time Slips Away" a song recorded and performed by numerous artists. The very best rendition in my opinion is by ELVIS. The studio version is the best which is accompanied with a video. He first recorded this and was part of his Country album "I Was Born About 10,000 Years Ago." I hope you will react and enjoy the very special musical talent that was ELVIS. THANK YOU!! From the State of Minnesota U.S.A.
Patsy had been in a car crash prior to making this recording. She hit the windshield but felt they had delayed the recording too long so she put on a bandana and heavy makeup and recorded the song. a few years later, her plane hit a mountain. Such a loss. Another great song is the title of her bio-pic. Sweet Dreams... watch the movie as it's great
Considering how much you like story songs, your Willie Nelson journey should include two duets: "Pancho and Lefty" with Waylon Jennings and "Beer for my Horses" with Toby Keith.
“I Fall to Pieces” is great, but as others have suggested, be sure to check out “Sweet Dreams.” If I had to recommend one Willie Nelson recording, it would be “Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain.” It’s a classic.
"I Fall To Pieces" has to be next. Her voice soars and dives so smoothly but powerfully.
Thanks for the recommendation!
Indeed an oldie, but Patsy's voice is unmatched.
Now you can say that you have basked in the greatness that is Patsy Cline. Her voice is pure liquid velvet.
Patsy was known for supporting up and coming female country music singers. She took Loretta Lynn, who became the most successful female country singer of her time, under her wing and showed her the ropes.
Her voice is like a big soft robe after a warm bath. I love every song from her.
The single greatest female vocalist I know of. Period. She sets the bar.
RIP Patsy Cline. Another fabulous voice gone too soon, but she sure did leave some great music for us.
Leeann Rhimes singing "Blue"..Patsy re-incarnated....beautiful
Even though she was killed in a plane crash in 1963, I was almost 4, I remember her songs played on the radio all through the 60s. I Fall to Pieces and Crazy are my favorites. Great reaction and great delivery on the crazy joke.
Heartbreaking to hear what happened. Definitely want to explore more of her music. Thanks so much for watching.
"Crazy" was written by Willie Nelson. Check out "Sweet Dreams". She recorded it before her death and they released it posthumously.
Thanks for the recommendation!

Willie's "Blue eyes crying the Rain".
Fantastic Willie Nelson-penned song here. He wrote this the same week that he wrote "Night Life" and "Funny How Times Slips Away."

Walking After Midnight is a good one too.
Patsy was fire. In this video, she is recovering from injuries to her face from an automobile accident. She has no equal.
Yep. That's the reason for the headband. It was to cover the scar on her forehead. Fantastic talent gone far too soon.
Patty Cline had a very awesome voice. It gets you in the feels. Love your reaction!

the piano player is Floyd Cramer. incredible pianist.

@yellowcat1310. Floyd Cramer played a very big part in the musical track to "Ain't It Funny How Time Slips Away" for ELVIS'S recording!

Her delivery is stunning and defies confinement to only country music….sort of like Willie Nelson that way. What a rich, luxurious voice.
She wore the headbands, which were not at all in style, because they cut or stopped severe headaches. Her voice was amazing.
I heard that she wore them to cover scars that she got in a car accident.. I could be wrong. Maybe they were used for both reasons?

Saeed, Patsy was singing this with broken ribs from a car accident, imagine that.
Wow!
She’s Got You is another great one by Patsy.
Willie was a songwriter in Nashville before he became a singer.
Patsy's mom was her manager without identifying that she was her mom.
I liked Patsy's little head shake at 2:00.
