memory wipe on tier 4 eliminates any tracing on a character as long as it's the first quickhack you use. I didn't see anything on the one you showed that prevents tracing on sonic shock, but memory wipe certainly works, I've used it many times.
@@mnpennerthe tier 4 version only costs 8, the tier 5 version ends combat for everyone in the area but costs 22, the tier 3 version of memory wipe only costs 4 but doesn't have the untraceable advantage.
Thank you for putting this up! I just started a brand new playthrough two days ago and noticed that I was getting traced like crazy in the intro missions
Doesn't work for me. I've got a tier 3 cyberdeck, tier 3 sonic shock and hack queue level 2. I used first sonic shock, then short circuit on an enemy but my location is still being traced.
I got this info from another small channel but posting here in hopes the algo picks your video up and more people can see it. Good luck on your channel!
Tier 4 memory wipe, tier 2 reboot optics and tier 5 sonic shock. Use this combo. You can down any non-boss enemy with one hit while maintaning full stealth.
As a netrunner in my game, without tracing quickhacks are downright "God Mode".....so I don't mind the fact that I need to be tactical with my hacks. Not that all hacks even trigger a trace.
There are several QH's that specifically say "Untraceable" on them. Another way you can go is with Memory Wipe. I forget which tier of it but it eventually gets the trait where any QH's you queue up AFTER memory wipe, are untraceable. So you can MW them, queue up a Short Circuit or Overheat, and drop them without setting off any tracing. It does NOT work on Contagion though, or well, it doesn't work once Contagion makes it's first jump to another target. You can technically cloak that first application on the Patient Zero for Contagion, but once it spreads, the tracing will begin. That's how I'm currently stealth hacking.
memory wipe is absolutely useless because of sonic shock, due to its cost. the only somewhat-useful-but-not-really memory wipe is the tier 5 one, which resets ALL enemies out of their combat state, and even that has a staggering 32 ram cost. and for me, when you've triggered combat phase you've already failed stealth so you might as well just A) reload the save, or B) just start blasting everyone. it's hard to come up with a scenario where memory wipe *specifically* is useful.
@@Schyferyel Yeah i do find the RAM cost spike for tier 5 to be insane for some of them. it's so high they are basically unusable. the only way you can really pay for them, is using the buyback/refund perks for having things queued, but, you have to have SO much ram to pay for all of those up front, it's weird to even bother. The one thing I think memory wipe has over sonic shock is that, at least from what I've seen, while Memory Wipe is in effect, even if you are standing in front of them, they don't really register you're presence. whereas sonic shock just messes with their ears. so I think it can be useful for extending a stealth window for you to sneak by someone. slap them with a memory wipe, followed by a reboot optics, and you've got a looooong window of safety to creep by them unseen. but yeah once i learned sonic shock does the same thing, I don't really use it anymore. which is sad. it was great for sneaking up on those hostile Cyberpsycho gigs, the ones where they go agro instantly, and you have to charge at them across a killing field, like the sniper guy on the overpass. Memory Wipe + Reboot Optics pretty much always gives you enough time to dash across the field, get behind him, and give him a nappy cuddle, without having to fight at all. I also use it on that Aldacaldo in the train depot, and the Tyger Claw up on the rafters who drops down to hack up his gang mate. MW+RO made those a 10 second gig, with a little cuddle at the end, instead of a fight. Not sure you can do the same thing with Sonic Shock
@@GIJoel023 so then if that also works, then I have a question for you, because I'm genuinely puzzled by the way quickhacks work now. Why does the system allow you to triple stack...I think it's memory loss, sonic shock and reboot optics to make someone pass out, when you can drop an enemy with a simple sonic shock(or memory wipe) plus a single combat hack like Overheat? Because I honestly don't see the point? The only thing I can think of is that all 3 of them are a control or covert type hack, and thus would maybe trigger some different RAM recovery perks maybe? But the question is though...why bother recovering RAM when you could just not spend all that ram in the first place? I guess it's maybe that you recover some at all, you end up with more than if you just spent them and waited? I honestly don't understand. since several of the QH perks don't work, and the ones that do seem to be built around VERY specific situations to actually be viable, I don't really know why you would bother, when there are simpler methods to employ?
@@happyninja42 I'll chalk it up to the developers overlooking it. At a glance it's a powerful quickhack, but I can do more with multiple cheaper hacks. I use bait + backup to make clusters of enemies, then hit them with contagion + overheat and they all explode. Snipers get the sonic+overheat
Thanks man, just came back to this and previously you could ice the guy trying to trace or deal with them otherways. Now it is just BS for a netrunner stealth build...
I don't even mind the tracing mechanic, I just wish they would at least make it so that only enemy netrunners are able to do it, and let there be a perk or something that highlights them through walls, like with the counter-a-hack perk
It isn't working anymore. CDPR patched out. It is on hack description that enemies now are able to track you down (though it doesn't increase tracking for other quick hacks). Sonic Shock now is pretty useless since it doesn't actually block communication. Thanks CDPR -___-;
Everything pumped to the max and scripts all legendary, still tracking, in missy in the store where placid sent. Sonic shock does not help immediately begins tracking
i keep seeing ppl say "memory wipe" which costs an ungodly amount of RAM for very little value. sonic + shock is good enough to wipe out almost any enemy for about 1/3 of the cost of a mem wipe. entirely untraceable and enemies dont care even if they see it happen. higher tiers need sonic+shock+shock and you are all good. paired with overdrive and you can take out many enemies with ease/silence. Use whatever deck you like as anything is just a bonus.
One thing that bugs me still; hostile area, disabled all the cameras using the local network computer. Closed room with two bad guys and I still get traced killing them with quick hacks There’s no netrunner. How? And when i check the individual cameras they are still on ?
I've been having pretty good luck with the Self-ICE Frontal Cortex cyberware. Not a full netrunner build, but when it's not in cooldown, it stops tracking cold. And I've got a lot of other cyberware that resets cooldowns.
Easiest way is just to Memory Wipe after every combat quickhack.. just know your RAM amounts and Queue limits.. stack combat quickhacks and make sure the last quickhack in the queue is Memory Wipe.. For example Suicide then queue a memory wipe after and Woosh! everyone connected to the subnet gets memory wiped, Target shoots themselves and everyone around is as clueless as Morgan Blackhands location. provided you have the perks mentioned in the video. I have to admit this update killed stealth netrunning for me. Every kill requiring a sonic shock and then a que, just turned me off :/ Absolutely love the update and the game overall though! It added so much to the other areas I didn't even miss stealth netrunning. Love the straight to the point informative video, wish I found this when the update first came out.
But it starts up again when you re-enter the area. I literal died this start last night and was completely annoyed. This is the one change that I absolutely hate in 2.0.
I personally dont mind being tracked as i have copy paste and i prefer to play aggressive unless the mission requires me to stealth. Id rather watch the fireworks from spreading overheat with the raven then uploading contagion to just one of the effected enemies or uploading contagion and shooting with 🎉explosive weapons like psalm 11 6 or shingen prototype
I stumbled across this method by accident but it's good knowing it might be a requirement to prevent tracing. I'd actually recommend you bring up low-tier alternatives to cyberdeck stealth, as tier 3 requires a good bit of progression at which point people might endeavor to change to a different playstyle since they can't rely on this. This would probably involve gameplay footage of overloading explosives, utilizing distractions to grapple and takedown, and applying combat quickhacks to...actual combat but nonetheless, you probably should emphasize that quickhack-exclusive stealth takedowns aren't viable until tier 3 components become available via progression.
It's not "almost instant", though I will cede you can get to Tier 3, even 4 if you level up by doing all the gigs during Act 1 (Pre-Johnny, pre-Konpeki). The only time it's truly "almost instant" is if you take the new game option to skip straight to the Phantom Liberty narrative. Again, to even get the experience to make it that far, you'd be doing stuff that might make you question whether a netrunner build's worth it if you don't know it eventually becomes viable. For that period of time, it could help to either leave a note saying to supplement quickhacks with other stealth/combat options early on or to shelf it altogether until you start consistently getting Tier 3 stuff.
@@Yorushima lvl 3 cyberware unlocks for you when you hit level 20, it really doesnt take that long to get there, but i can agree that lvl 1-19 full stealth netrunning isnt viable tho, they could add green hack (or maybe evn gray) for the sound shock.. but you know they also made changes to revolvers cuz they doesnt have silencers now so overall CP 2.0 is a stealth nerf. (and early pistols are mostly incapable of one shoting enemies) btw i dont understand nerfing things in game single player but thats totally off topic
for some reason i just need to dash around a little bit and they basically never trace me on very hard. anybody knows how this mechanic works? do you need to just change location or get to a certain distance away?
The problem is if you use Sonic Shock, then queue Contagion on the same character, when the Contagion spreads to another enemy who wasn't hit with Sonic Shock, you get traced.
Also later on you can use Memory Wipe to make all the subsequent in the queue untraceable. Not the legendary variant though, it costs a shitton of RAM to execute. Actually most of the legendary quickhacks are broken that way for some reason, definitely shouldn't cost that much
They don’t have through walls, only through proxies. They will hack you if you are exposed to a camera or there is another enemy they can “chain” it off of.
Does it also work in 2.1? I doesnt Matter that i use sonic shock they will always trace my location. Even when an Enemy is in another room alone and i use tier 5 sonic shock. It’s impossible to kill stealth with quickhacks now i think.
Technically, you could do this with any untraceable Quickhack. But Sonic Shock has the lowest RAM cost. Combine Sonic Shock with Short Circuit and take down drones and robots. Sonic Shock and Overheat will get most enemies

You have 18k views in 12 days, you oughta consider playing CP 2077 live or doing a build vid of some kind.
Preem job, Choom!
Thanks, choom! I've just been playing and having fun but I might just do a live. I appreciate yall!!
this is not working for me
I have to admit this update killed stealth netrunning for me. Every kill requiring a sonic shock and then a que, just turned me off :/
Absolutely love the update and the game overall though! It added so much to the other areas I didn't even miss stealth netrunning.
Love the straight to the point informative video, wish I found this when the update first came out.
OMG thank you I was so annoyed! Getting used to the new ways of doing things.
Damn, I was trying to use Memory Wipe for that! Thanks; I won’t have to Overclock quite as hard now!
I think they changed that after 2.1, I have a tier 5 sonic shock and my hacks still get traced like normal
You also can leave the area by going not so far away and tracking stops
But it starts up again when you re-enter the area. I literal died this start last night and was completely annoyed. This is the one change that I absolutely hate in 2.0.
@@TyrekParrish played 2.0 and it worked just as i said. Don't know about 2.01
I personally dont mind being tracked as i have copy paste and i prefer to play aggressive unless the mission requires me to stealth. Id rather watch the fireworks from spreading overheat with the raven then uploading contagion to just one of the effected enemies or uploading contagion and shooting with 🎉explosive weapons like psalm 11 6 or shingen prototype
the guide i needed, thanks bud
Thank you so much. This is great.
Straight to the point I like it
I stumbled across this method by accident but it's good knowing it might be a requirement to prevent tracing.
I'd actually recommend you bring up low-tier alternatives to cyberdeck stealth, as tier 3 requires a good bit of progression at which point people might endeavor to change to a different playstyle since they can't rely on this. This would probably involve gameplay footage of overloading explosives, utilizing distractions to grapple and takedown, and applying combat quickhacks to...actual combat but nonetheless, you probably should emphasize that quickhack-exclusive stealth takedowns aren't viable until tier 3 components become available via progression.
tier 3 a "good bir of progression"? really, i would say you have it almost instant in the game possible to equip, lvl 4 and 5 is another story tho
(and early pistols are mostly incapable of one shoting enemies)
btw i dont understand nerfing things in game single player but thats totally off topic
Oh good to know! I love me some stealth netrunning
Sometiems you see players able to see a line ehich tells you who is tracing. How can we get that?
for some reason i just need to dash around a little bit and they basically never trace me on very hard. anybody knows how this mechanic works? do you need to just change location or get to a certain distance away?
The problem is if you use Sonic Shock, then queue Contagion on the same character, when the Contagion spreads to another enemy who wasn't hit with Sonic Shock, you get traced.
Short circuit go brrrrr
True. You'll have to eliminate enemies one by one
I got teir 5 sonic shock and they still trace me 😂
what you really want is the purple level of sonic sock, cause that means you can stright up kill them in open view with hacks and nobody will do s**t.
Baby steps 😂
Also later on you can use Memory Wipe to make all the subsequent in the queue untraceable. Not the legendary variant though, it costs a shitton of RAM to execute. Actually most of the legendary quickhacks are broken that way for some reason, definitely shouldn't cost that much
i still get traced doing that
CDPR took our ability to hack through walls away but forgot to apply that to NPCs... Go figure..
They don’t have through walls, only through proxies. They will hack you if you are exposed to a camera or there is another enemy they can “chain” it off of.
@@MitchSorenstein I could show MULTIPLE examples of them hacking me where there were no "proxies" if given the opportunity.
Didn’t even show it working 🥺
You deserve a beer. Cheers
Thanks choom.
I have tier 5 everything still get traced so I. Shock then contagion
sucks they couldn't have just left it the way it was
Does it also work in 2.1? I doesnt Matter that i use sonic shock they will always trace my location. Even when an Enemy is in another room alone and i use tier 5 sonic shock. It’s impossible to kill stealth with quickhacks now i think.
Technically, you could do this with any untraceable Quickhack. But Sonic Shock has the lowest RAM cost. Combine Sonic Shock with Short Circuit and take down drones and robots. Sonic Shock and Overheat will get most enemies
god thank u, i wanted to play like the sneaky mfka i usually am but now i gotta use a combo of ping and well chosen kills until i get a tier 3 deck
Right to the point, very nice
Wait, shouldn't it be Memory Wipe instead of Sonic Shock?
Am I doing summit wrong?
I'm using a tier 5++ Tetratronic Rippler Mk.5 with all tier 5 quick hacks.... I'm hitting them with Sonic Shock first then Short Circuit and I'm still getting traced... I've also tried it where I only upload Sonic Shock, let it sit for a sec and then hit with a combat quick hack and it's the same, traced every time
@@misterinkeduk Hey! I just popped back in and saw your comment. I noticed someone else said they're having the same issue. I'm not sure what the problem is, it's been a while since I've played but I made this video when I started a fresh game a few months back. I havent played in months and I'm unsure if anything changed since then. I'm sorry, choom 😔
@@slimyhandsyo no worries bro
@@misterinkeduk I looked through the comments at bit and @LiMaMuFu said CDPR patched it 😫
Only memory wipe prior to traceable hacks prevents trace
@@irawilliams4890 Thanks, choom! I'll pin this for others.
You can also use Memory Wipe 👍
….. it just stopped working for me 🤦🏿♂️ tier 5
Laughs in run and gun build 😅
But thx for the info didn't know that yet about the game
so how are you supposed to get past all the barghest guards at the party in phantom liberty expansion
Thanks fam 💪
Dang that's a nice voice, are you a voice actor by any chance?
2.1 came out and it this doesn't work anymore. I get traced regardless of what I put it. It's fucking horrible
If you throw a quickhack that spreads (like Contagion, for example) make sure you first use Sonic Shock on *all* of the enemies to whom it might spread. If it spreads to an enemy you didn't Sonic Shock first, you'll get traced. 🙂
Once your a high enough lvl raven deck, system collapse quick hack, and overdrive basically a braindead way to play stealth netrunner
Memory Wipe is also untraceble. I use Tier 4 on top of any hack. Silent.
I'm still getting traced when I use sonic shock before a combat quickhack. Did this change in 2.1, or am I doing something wrong?
Same. That's why i came here. Maybe Memory wipe?
@@VchaosTheoryVyeah tier 4 memory wipe minimum. Apparently Sonic shock will work with only synapse burnout since synapse burnout doesn’t proc a trace if you one hit kill the enemy
@MitchSorenstein that's lame. I ended up changing my playstyle and resetting the perks. It's fun being a netrunner, but gets old when stealth is involved
@@VchaosTheoryV I feel it. Used to use berserk with johnnys pistol and the mono wire when the game first came out. Edgerunners made me appreciate netrunning a little more so I went for it and I can’t stop🤣. Just downloaded a mod to restore sonic shocks untraceable ability
@@MitchSorenstein oh no kidding. What mods do you recommend?
Didn’t work, I’m not sure if it’s me but I used sonic shock then contagion, and it traced me on the first guy I sonicd (soniced? Just sonic? Dunno)
@@TheMechanicalArchitect Yea im hearing the same thing. The video is a year old so I'm not sure what kind of changes were made. Some people are saying only memory wipe works
How is this quick hack useful at all I used it on all my opponents and then tried to use short circuit and a bunch of other quick hacks and they started chasing me immediately
think it bug in new patch that just recent came out
You can just bunny hop out of range...
But if you use Sonic Shock and Contagion, and that Contagion hits someone whom you didn't use Sonic Shock on, you will be traced. lol
