Asheville Apocalypse 2024 - Part 1: Into the Storm

- Mari Dew and The Zen Dogs pack up their Toyota 4Runner Shanti and head to Asheville, NC, for a 3-week retreat to write, unwind and be creative…but Mother Nature (or some sort of crazy storm force) has other ideas!
Little did we know that we would end up in the eye of Hurricane Helene, high in the Asheville Mountains! It all happened a couple nights before what became my weirdest birthday ever. Thankfully everyone is ok and the property where we stay suffered minimal damage, but the one road in and out of the neighborhood was completely washed out, and we were trapped on the mountain with no power and zero cell/internet service.
What started as a writer’s journey for my new book became an impromptu documentation of the wild unfolding events of Hurricane Helene. This is Part 1, and it documents the first week of our vacation (September 23-29). More to come…Stay Tuned!
