  • Channel 1 would not charge. After stripping it down and testing it, I found a fuse had blown on the pcb. Once I replaced it it worked fine🙂.

    Nice work! Great information as these age and more people run into this problem. Surely it's a pain to solder that component on, not to mention waiting to get it in the mail. Small tipped iron, steady hands, and a bit of luck must help lol as others have said maybe add some bodge wires and an ANL fuse or something to make it easier to repair in the future :)

    • @Dingmiester
      @Dingmiester  3 роки тому +1

      I would agree Mitchell, It was not ans easy task as most tips are half the size of the fuse. I think the way forwards is to fit a fuse holder of sorts to the body with long wires soldered in place of the fuse. I may do a video on that soon ..

    Good to know it's fuse protected at all, but I wouldnt exactly call it user serviceable. I have a Hitec RDX1 PRO that suddenly started reading voltage all over the place. With everything unplugged the battery meter fluctuates between 0.1 and 2.5v. It still charges but im sure its ending the charge prematurely.Hopefully Hitec will warranty it.

    • @Dingmiester
      @Dingmiester  2 роки тому

      Its fa from user serviceable but that's how they make money I guess. Lets hope in the future manufactures have the sense to install replicable fuses. Hope you get yours sorted by Hitec.

    I'm glad I found this video before I bought a replacement. Would you happen to know the amp rating for the fuse model you mentioned as there appears to be quite few ..

    • @Dingmiester
      @Dingmiester  3 роки тому +3

      I went with 10 amps to be on the safe side. Its rated at 15 amps per channel I do believe. To make it easier you could look at getting a fuse holder rated up to 15 amps and fit it to the side of the case. That would be my next job if it blows again. SF-1206HV15M-2

      @@Dingmiester you mean like an automotive blade style fuse and fuse holder ? what gauge wires would you suggest ?

    • @Dingmiester
      @Dingmiester  3 роки тому +1

      @@TeamBlindMouse Yes that's one sort, I would personally go with a round fuse holder with screw cap, Amazon/ Ebay sell them. It would be easier to drill the holes. Make sure it's rated 15amps.

    I bought a HOTA D6 Pro that had this problem, opened a complaint on Aliexpress and they refunded me 50% of the amount, since one channel doesn't work. I thought it was my bad luck in the purchase and I bought a second charger just like it, after 3 months of moderate use, the same problem. I do not recommend this charger. It's cute but it sucks and it's going to break soon.

  • @robertpenner8840

    I bought a D6+ just a little more than a year ago from a reputable local hobby store. It's been working great until today, when I started encountering a slightly different problem: it reads the voltage of the battery when I plug it in but when I charge (or any other operation) on that channel, I get that same error message "current operation not supported". the board in mine looks to be identical to the one you have. The same fuse on mine actually shows no resistance (or nothing above the internal resistance of my meter). But the appearance is very suspicious; the fuse is slightly brown and the soldering on that fuse is certainly not neat. I don't know if this got too hot and the solder melted into a blob or if someone tried to fix it at the factory...
    😜
    thanks!

      Sorry for the very late Reply Robert, Did you have any luck sorting it out.
      It does sound like its the fuse, did you replace it and is it working now ?.

    • @robertpenner8840
      @robertpenner8840 2 роки тому +1

      Hi - yes, I replaced the fuse and it is all working now. I did have some additional issue afterwards where the voltage reading was off by approximatly 1 volt until I plugged in battery balance leads. I tried a few things but ultimatly I resolved it by doing a factory reset. Thanks!

    Any help ?

      Is there any power to the screen, does it light up at all. First thing I would do is take it apart and see if the wire has unplugged itself first.

      Hi, Here is what I used. Not easy to solder as so small. I am going to make a new video and change the fuses in the board to 5x20mm external fuse holders. I think it will be so much better in the long run. uk.farnell.com/bourns/sf-1206hv15m-2/fuse-15a-high-inrush-withstand/dp/2911347RL?st=SF-1206HV15M-2
