Reviews:
"If you are not particularly a Western movie fan, but are a film buff who feels an obligation to visit all genres, there are some Directors that epitomize and rise above the pack. It is with these Artisans you can savior that which is the best of an admitted overload of mediocrity and banality.
The Westerns of Directors...Budd Boetticher, Anthony Mann, Sam Peckinpah, Sergio Leone, and if you want to get into the more mainstream, John Ford.
Here we have one of seven films that Boetticher did with Randolph Scott and with the always excellent writer Burt Kennedy's curt, colorful dialog. Speaking of colorful. This one was filmed in Cinemascope and the stylistic inclusion of landscape as character is on display here in all it's encompassing beauty. There is nary a close-up in this film and there is no need. It is so well framed the characters are developed by their words, position, and posture.
As always the Director delivers style as well as substance and populates the movie with interesting multi dimensional characters and the cast is outstanding. This is primal as well as evolutionary and humorous as well as deadly serious. A rich and elegant film that is a parade of people through a place within a time when there was an individual and not a collective code of honor." Written by LeonLouisRicci on IMDb.com.
"Indeed one of the most finest western movies of all times, a nice story line makes it easy to follow up the events, the cast makes the movie even more interesting to watch, though best viewed as cinema scope it is a nice addition to any western movies enthusiasts library, the movie includes a proper ending style in which its left for the viewer to conclude what the flow of events will be when its over.
the open spaces gives the movie a wide horizon typical of the old west, Burt Kennedy story drops perfectly on the background creating a charismatic effect for the main characters (Randolph Scott) Ben Brigade and (Lee Van Cleef)Frank, though the appearance of Lee Van Cleef comes at a later stage in the movie resulting in more focus on the other members of the cast." Great Randolph Scott movie. Thank you for sharing it.
Still amazing after all these years. Modern films like the MCU and Disney franchises ,need well written strong storylines. Not CGI and infantile scripts.
Here here ...cgis ruined a lot of people's perception in many ways.
@@BuddyCalyxed I know its an opinion, but if CGI didn’t exist, then great animation studios like dreamworks, pixar and disney wouldn’t exist. And also that some great tv shows from this era wouldn’t also exist…
(This reply mentions mainly the animation industry, but it can apply to live actions films like “The Mask” which is a great film)
@@chocolatechipcookiesareawesomeI agreed with you until you said Mask was a good movie, figuring your talking about the Jim Carrey movie of that title
Unfortunately now there's a crazy overeliance on CGI. Disney exclusively shoots on a huge blue screen that materializes some fictional world@@chocolatechipcookiesareawesome
I love Randolph Scott movies all have been wonderful.
But his best is when he went all Westerns. Just the right move for him.
Sure wish Seven Men From Now could be a part of this channel I have watched it in another place but love to see it pop up here.
Randolph Scott not another like him
Thanks for this showing 🎉
This is maybe my favorite Randolph Scott movie. Pernell was awesome and Karen Steele at her best. James Best and his nervous laugh. Thanks
? U Ñ
Damn! Randolph Scott is tougher than John Wayne.. great acting throughout the cast.
Erm......in his own way I suppose.
Thanks for sharing another great Randolph Scott, Harry Joe Brown collaboration.
One of the very best - a true classic Wertern, with a nice twist in the end!
I really enjoyed that as I do every Randolph Scott western ! Pernell Roberts gave a strong performance here as well ! Thank you Hangtown Express for posting this beauty.

If you watch the trilogy, I always watch "The Tall T" last when and where he gets the woman (after only three days) and the treasure (father-in-law). It's the poet in me.
Of all the sidekicks, I think Chinc was the best acted and Dobie was the best written. Although Dobie's role was acted very well. Frank and Whit and Billy Jack were all excellent in their own right. Of the villains, James Best's Billy John steals every scene he's in almost. Out of Scott's roles, Brigade wins out acting and writing, but all three are excellent.
running deadlands soon. here because the book recommends this film.
Oh what a plot twist!!! And a burning tree! At the end....had me totally gripped till the end credits
I appreciate all the informative and entertaining advertisements. Provide us viewers with more of them, please.
Beginning is very good that keep me watching. Waiting for Lee van cliff.
Randolph Scott best actor of his time
there are alot of damn fine actors who have come and gone, but there's only one RANDOLPH SCOTT,and he didn't make near enough movies, but the ones he did, well they speak for themselves, rip COWBOY
Great western. Randolph Scott, James Coburn, Lee Van Cleef and Pernell Roberts. Beautiful scenery. Great buildup in the story line.
You forgot hot blonde.

Thanks for the post. I don`t think anyone perfected the loner hero as well as Scott, in westerns anyway. Easily one of his finest films. Helped launch other careers too. James Best nearly steals the show.
Randolph Scott is a good horse rider. Look how he fell from the horse and stood up.
All great actors , including James Best . Great movie . Lost count of how many times I have watched it. And this won't be the last time.
Agreed. James Best darn near stole the show! "Guess that kinda makes me a liar, don't it?"
I was glad he didn't die.
@@sluggo2014 You realize he will when he gets to Santa Cruz?

RIP Billy John
Misguided Soul and Liar.
The friendliest back-shooting murderer you'll ever meet.
A good western. Thank you for sharing it.
Young James Coburn and Lee Van Cleef in this movie...nice surprise. Very good movie, picture, sound, story, scenery and acting all top notch.
Thank you!
Excellent western with great cast. Scott and Roberts really good in this -- you will enjoy it !
May 18th 2021. Happy Birthday, Pernell. I love you. There will always be a very special place in my heart for you.
Character of Boone, "You must be Billy John. Heard a lot about ya. You ain't near as small as I thought you'd be." That is just one of a ton of great lines in this movie.....awesome western.

Full marks all round. Good story, well acted and directed and well shot in glorious Eastmancolour. Thanks for posting.
Great Cast, and great plot!!!....This just might be Randolph Scott's Best movie!!
Tall T & Comanche Station equally comparable.
@@higgsmerino3925 Don`t forget Seven Men From Now.
Great western with a top cast, Randolph Scott, Pernell Roberts, James Coburn and Lee Van Cleef. I am not familiar with Karen Steele. Excellent scenery. As I am lying low, here in Ireland due to Covid 19, these old westerns are great to watch. Many thanks for uploading.
Thanks!
Karen Steel was a "mini" bombshell back in the late 50's and early to mid 60's.She was in STAR TERK TOS' episode "Mudd's Women".She eventually married a physician and retired to Hawaii .Unfortunately she died relatively young.
James Best was a cousin of the Everly Brothers; easy to see the resemblance. An excellent actor he became an artist and retired to Hickory, NC where he died in 2015. Another NC connection was Randolph Scott who grew up in Charlotte, NC and is buried there. This is probably my favorite Randolph Scott movie but I like all of his westerns.
A touch of realism dealing with firearms, as actors they knew firearms even off the site. Like having to reload a 6 shooter, or Pernell Roberts talk of a pin over a chambered round. My hats off to you Grjngo and Amogo networx
When Hollywood actually made good movies with a moral.....
How far have they fallen😢
Amen....
adam freeman
If that is factual.....how sad. No one knew that at the time. At least they did not deem it neccesary to blast their persnal lives into otherwise talented events.
@adam freeman And what is your point ?
thαílαnd pαrαdísє nothing do with correctness, the good book says the people with those traits end up in the wrong place...
I like Scott, polished gentleman, but the truth cannot be changed, so there it is. Adios...🙏.
@@westsolon7480 No the sad part is that they had to be closeted instead of just being who they were - same with Rock Hudson, Tab Hunter, Farley Granger and many others.
What a surprisingly awesome movie...just how i like em too- great acting, wholesome, proper values, happy ending...i was hopin he was gonna ride out to the sunset with the girl but that would just be overdoing it..
Excelente western. One the bests
This is first class Western with a good plot, dialog, acting and direction. Thanks for posting. I haven't seen it in a long time and I am glad that I watched it again. It was an enjoyable experience.
yeah, it definitely felt different than most westerns!! good movie indeed.
Great film. The dialogues were so well written and delivered to perfection. And Pernell was awesome.
Probably the role that got Pernell on BONANZA.
Thank you for sharing

Just watched this classic on GRIT and enjoyed it so much, I had to see if it was here, on UA-cam! Grjngo...YOU ROCK!!! Thanks for posting this movie!
Excellent performance by all actors. Randolph Scott, James Coburn, Lee Van Cleef and others in one movie. Nicely picturised in the terrains and greeneries. Love to watch the movie
Wow - super movie! Great actors and unexpected ending too!
Very nice when the stagecoach comes suddenly in a hurry and hit the fence and some pole falls down. I stood up. It's such a great scene.
I never thought I'd see the day ....James Coburn play a half wit . Did a good job .
I liked the ending. The entire movie was great. Great stars.
Speaking of the ending: Originally, Boone and Whit were supposed to get killed in the end. Boetticher didn't want it that way and told the power-that-be that he would film two endings, and they could pick the best. They saw this ending first and loved it so much and the two characters that they went with it. Truth is, Boetticher never even shot the alternate ending.
Thanks!
In September, 1959, 7 months after Pernell Roberts was Sam Boone in "Ride Lonesome" (February, 1959), he would be cast as the oldest brother, Adam Cartwright (1959-1965), in the Bonanza TV Show (1959-1973).
I love this movie, reminds me of the Tall T movie, I loved that movie too
Bravo! Great movie.
10/10 no adverts would be better too.
Classic Randolph👍👍
If you enjoyed this film then you may also enjoy this classic western: ua-cam.com/video/OxwYXUfvENI/v-deo.html
Yes, Great movie. Love Randolph Scott movies, keep them coming..Thanks..
Thanks, Really good old Western.
Awesome movie and morals 👌as a old vet I cannot thank you enough for all these free movies 😀 LOL
Great film, Scott at his usual best. But I’d have to say it’s Roberts who carries this movie. Always giving us the exposition when not convincing James Coburn why a woman needs a good carin’ fer
Good to see Pernell Roberts in a different role.
My favorite scott western
One of my favorite movies! I think it was mostly filmed near Lone Pine California. James Best is very underrated! Randolph Scott is at on my MT Rushmore of western stars, along with Joel McCrea, Gary Cooper & John Wayne in no particular order!
James had a fine prolific career.Nothing to suggest he's underrated.😊
One of Randolph Scott's best! Better than John Wayne! And was there ever a cooler cowboy than Pernell Roberts - Boone here. He was Ben Cartwright's oldest son Adam Cartwright on the blockbuster Western TV series Bonanza (1959-1965) - and as chief surgeon Dr. John McIntyre, the title character on Trapper John, M.D. (1979-1986). James Best as Billy. He played a depraved but somewhat likeable bad guy! And James Coburn before his breakout performance in 'The Magnificent Seven.' And Lee Van Cleef as the brother. He was fabulous as a western villian! But he played the lead hero in 'The Magnificent Seven Ride' (1972) the third and last sequel of the 1960 classic with Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson etc. Karen Steele? Majestic beauty. Sadly she died from cancer at age 56.
Great Movie ...... and Great Ending 👍👍👍
Well done, Grjngo!! Yet another great classic western movie. Thanks so much for this one.
Very happy you enjoyed it. Thanks for the kind words! 🤠👌

WHAT A LEFT HOOK!!!! I DIDN'T SEE THAT COMING!!! GREAT MOVIE!!!
I can't watch a movie with Randolph Scott without thinking of Blazing Saddles. "RADOLPH SCOTT!!!"
Good movie
Thank you.
Well casted, directed, filmed and acted in God's amazing creation! In 1959, when this motion picture opened in theaters, Pernell Roberts began his six-year portrayal of Adam Cartwright in the television series, BONANZA.
Good Movie.A good storyline. In Spite of being old movie have a good pace and dont bore you much better than so called old classics.
What ever happened to Randolph Scott, riding the trails alone? What ever happened to Randolph Scott has happened to the industry!
Mr. Scott retired soon after this film, or Comanche Station not sure. He was financially adept and lived out his days in quiet comfort. Legend.
What ever happened to Gene and Tex and Roy and Rex and Rango Kid
Ya gotta love these old westerns where they build a house with no water nearby.
It's got everything a Western can have in 60 minutes. Coaches, bounty hunter, gangs, Indians, fued, and (imaginary) showdowns and ranches.
All the stars are in this, surprisingly Pernell Roberts…aka Adam Cartwright.
Love watching these future stars in supporting roles...
Lee Van Cleef aka Angel Eyes
Wonderful movie; great landscape, a beautiful gal, a manly lead, an unfolding drama with ungoing action, some memorable moments in just over an hour. Everything a B grade classic should be. Watch.
