Great Randolph Scott western. I like all the great old western stars but as the years went on I have come to love and appreciate Scott's movie characters most of all. He was the lone cowboy with high moral values and work ethics who never pulled his weapon and killed unless he had no way out in defense of his life or the lives of the innocent. Thanks for another enjoyable watch Grjngo. Be seeing you again real soon partner.
My great-uncle, Raymond Burke, was an extra in this movie. It is said he "rode a horse over the bank." I'm not sure which scene he's in exactly, but it is so cool to know he was in this. He was killed in action just a few years later in the Korean War.
😢❤ He is your Warrior Guardian Angel now. He would be proud of your kind words & memories. He sounds like a Mans Man.. Ole saying. You ❤ Rock 🎸.. Stay safe & happy.
Another good Randolph Scott it's amazing that he was still doing these horse Chase's at 60 years of age. Great movie within 10 minutes you're trying to figure out what the heck is going on. Thank you for the upload keep them coming
I liked this movie I have it in my collection of Randolph Scott. There's some pretty funny lines like ain't I awful. I am so proud Randolph Scott never lost his southern accent. Love this man.
Average lifespan in the wild west 35 and what little they did have for medical service was absolutely shit... It's way better watching depictions of those days on a screen.
My Father was a fan of cowboy movies, so do I. I enjoyed it very much now. I can just imagined how they (people) lived during that era! And how they fight for every inch of the properties that shaped a nation.
Yep, they fought through everything imaginable, disease, the elements, the natives, each other, the ones that made it were very tough determined men & women. If they could see this country now.
The biggest thing people don’t realize is how filthy it was back in the 1800s. They rarely took a bath there was dust and dirt everywhere. I read at the bar they would have a rag and every time somebody took a sip of beer they would grab the rag and wipe the beer up there mustache. Everybody used the same rag. So if one person was sick everybody gets sick.
This is a wonderful western. Zane Grey's work though always fanciful is spot on right with the code of the west and how the Old West might possibly have been. This is great entertainment and Scott is brilliant as always!
I WAS ONE YEAR OLD WHEN THIS WESTERN WAS MADE, I AM NOW 74 AND WATCHING IT AGAIN...THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING THIS IS A GREAT GIFT FOR MYSELF....GOD BLESS U AND GOD BLESS US ALL EACH AND EVERYONE...
This is an excellent movie Grjngo. Thank you so much for posting. Randolph Scott solves the problem of who is behind all the problems and gets the girl in the end, even though that seems impossible until the very end. That leaves everyone happy. Thanks again, Bill Baker

Hey y'all this is a great movie and they don't show this movie on T.V. I had seen this before about 20 or 30 years ago but it's all good for me anyway. And Thank you very much my friend and have a wonderful day ok.
'TO MANY EMPTY SADDLES ON HIM JANE' thats a great line, surprised that wasn't ever used again. You can see the building blocks of Shane & just about every Clint Eastwood film & hundreds of others in RS westerns.
'Always enjoy watching ol' chiseled-face Randolph Scott ... even though this flick is somewhat 1930s corny; but the sets are western-traditional, locations beautiful.
He was an extremely nice man & even though I was a young teenage his manners was a total class act! I was introduce to Mr. Scott in 1974 by John Wayne who was a good friend of my Grandfather. It certainly was a great day for me! Because, John Wayne & Randolph Scott were not only my favorite western stars, they both stood up for the value's of what America was all about!
I agree, must've been awesome on the big screen! George Waggner shines as a director, innovative camera-work, capturing the excellent acting, great score! Zane Grey written Westerns almost always deliver.
My dad used to joke that Randolph Scott would have been totally miscast if he'd been in something like High Noon. "Can you imagine him sweating Frank Miller and his crew? Asking the town to help? It would have been ridiculous." Here's the plot synopsis of High Noon starring Randolph Scott: He goes to the train station and shoots Miller's geeks. Waits for the train. Miller arrives. He shoots Miller. The End.
Thanks for the post, great old time move , wish they still made them, but all the old timers all got now, they just dont make moves like they use to, just glad i was there to see them,
God, I LOVE Westerns! ... Westerns are THEATRE ON WHEELS! - Down-to-Earth, Clear Honesty, Morals as the Presiding Judge and players carrying their feelings, not on their sleeves, but at the end of their guns!
Good movie, my favorite Randolph Scott film. I used to only watch John Wayne westerns. Then when I hit my 30's, I found all of these other greats. Randolph Scott, Audie Murphy, Rory Calhoun, James Stewart, etc. While, I still think The Duke was the best ( in my opinion), those others have some dandy westerns themselves.
This Wonderful Cowboy movie Reminds me ... childhoods days through looking in Public TV Screen at that times (Thanks Gringo) . Learning of Swift & talent of Killing too Easy . Often bringing brutal & Bloody Violence events ... all strangers are not carrying Criminal pasts , also all calm citizens are not having safety behaviors or Civilian Opinions
Randolph often rides away from what could be a life of heaven on earth with a beautiful woman...(possibly) ...and the asinine throwing expensive guns away in the desert...most westerns that I liked so much (the general western story,) for many years, but I am near end of my life and I doubt I could name 10 excellent, sensible western films. The last good one...very good mostly... is "Lawman," with Burt Lancaster & Robert Ryan. It came to being very close to what could be THE western to enjoy quite a bit. We love the western genre, the fascination of the years between 1815-1820's through the 1870's(?), that exciting, we never ever really given good, accurate stories of what that historical time was really like. It is vastly all made up B.S. and myth, guitars being played whilethe singing cowboy shot bullets through coins in the air, fought and never looked hurt nor lost their hats...solid hard crushing bones in the face, etc, and on and on it went. This was terrible, yet not as bad as some others. So sad we never had accurate portrayals of the real west.
The sheriff in this film is the famous actor who played "Ming the Merciless" in the Flash Gordon movie. Charles Middleton was an American stage and film actor. During a film career that began at age 46 and lasted almost 30 years, he appeared in nearly 200 films as well as numerous plays.
A rare Randolph Scott western where he isn't riding his palamino 'Stardust' with its golden mane and tail! But like fellow actor William Boyd - Hopalong Cassidy - he sure could ride!
WOW !!!, great period art work, scenery, all the plot's you expect, except a train, stage coach and old prospector. whew. Great charecter actor's with lot's of humor and a little tear jerker ending. I don't get the hype about Scott...he wasn't a real good looking Guy...Not much presence...and NOT a tough Guy
He was the best of all the western world around better than lots of people that played cowboys he made movies before most were born
