Yay for the AWC!! The Authortube Writing Conference is going to be awesome this year!
Yes! I'm so excited!
I'll be using this trope in my fourth book in my romantasy series, which I'm only on book 2, so this is quite timely for me to digest, internalize, and prepare to use it in a believable way! I also love 50 First Dates! Thanks so much!
I'm so happy you will find value in the video. Can't wait to read your book when it releases 😀
My debut used amnesia but it was a thriller rather than a romance and I still love that book! And overboard was a teenage fave coz I'm old 😅
😆 Oh very nice! Amnesia is one of those universal tropes for sure. And I love Overboard lol I keep telling myself all these examples are showing my age 😆 🤣
oh, the football concussions... cautionary tale! amnesia is so little understood medically (as far as I know) that you can pretty much do what you want in fiction, don't you think?
I think they are more studies going on now to figure out more about it irl. But fiction has for sure had a fueld day with it over the years. I've seen it done where all memory just vanishes due to trauma, others have done only certain years vanish like in 50 first dates and reset every day lol and some all memories before the traumatic event disappear but new memories remain. Haha it's anything goes in fiction as long as you can make it believable lol
Definitely not my favourite trope!
Aww it may grow on you lol
I recently read a fantasy book about elemental magic. One of the characters were attacked by an antagonist who blocked a lot of their memories, causing a type of amnesia. It was very interesting and believable. The friends of the character found a way to break through the blockage and release the memories.
Ooh, that sounds like a cool conflict/premise--what was the book, Phylicia?
@@MargaretPinard The School of Roots and Vines by Martha Carr and Michael Aderle
Oh this sounds very cool. Do you remember the name of the book? I may add it to my TBR
@@DreamingTruth.author oh just saw it lol its been a day 😆
