    Hey folks!
I hope you enjoyed hearing MY experience.
The contrast between the hustle and bustle in Lagos, plus the beautiful Toronto skylines and massive airport compared to Halifax's green and scenic views was definitely an experience.
I ended up living in Halifax for 3 years. I stayed back after school when all my mates left immediately. It was serene and peaceful. I would love to go back and explore the city a bit more.

@@FeyiMac Great story telling right there if you ask me. As for the racism part, well i think it's kinda sucks but what sucks more is TRIBALISM, which happens a lot back home. I once dated a yoruba lady but her mum was not comfortable with me and referred to me as an igbo man even though I'm from Delta state. It's all around Nigeria, Yorubas against igbos, Igbos against hausas and vice versa. I thinktIt's so worse than white on black hate.

I laughed at your comment about nobody on the road when you and your parents went out. Last time I was in Nigeria 2010, I told my childhood friend who I went to high school with in the 80s that there were so many people everywhere that it was scary. I didn’t remember it being like that when I lived there. She laughed and said it was always like that and that I have been gone too long. I literally love quiet areas with hardly anyone roaming the streets 😊I find it peaceful and serene👍🏽

Hi Feyi ,thank you very much for your video contribution about Halifax NS and your experience (What is ~Halifax in the first place ,ha ha ,priceless!)I really related to you experience as an international student who chose Halifax Nova Scotia to study.I and many others from the Caribbean in particular went study at St Marys University Dalhousie Mount St Vincent Nova Scotia Tech TUNS.I have very vivid and powerful memories of living in Halifax and the experience especially as a person of African Caribbean origin. It was fascinating to hear you articulate your impressions about the city. The thing that really impacted me was about your experience on your masters degree and one of your lectures where the topic of racism in North America was being traversed. The name KKK came up and you found yourself having to ask in class "what is the KKK". That blew my mind literally as a person of african descent born and raised in the west. I was born in the UK. It is obvious that you are clearly an intelligent educated and progressive young person. Not knowing about some of the bus route as a result of the poor or lack of information system management IT system on the transport systems and having to ask for directions as a new person is one thing. But coming from Nigeria as a post Graduate student and never having heard of the KKK or Klu Klux Klan is mind blowing. This is classic black history about the experience of black person in colonial and post colonial western world , and most obviously relates to slavery subjugation an oppression of black people .What does this say about the history education that is taught in the secondary school curriculum in Nigeria? Regardless Thank you for your video . It was very informative , funny and enlightening with serious perspective I .When I got to Canada I found it fascinating that Nova Scotia as the highest number of Black in Canada .When i say this i mean those who are descendants of the original migrant from Carolina USA pre war of independence from UK and New York in the 19th Century also those maroons deported from Jamaica who where sent on to Sierra Leone to re-settle that new Africa territory.

      Hi,
You should not fault the Nigerian education system. We are a people of over 500 different tribes and cultures, our history classes can't fully cover all our experiences and histories. (To put it in perspective, my son came home with homework on "Nigeria people and origin ", while the topic discussed 52 tribes, mine was not included . That's to tell how extensive history here is)We went through colonization and slavery here, there's a lot to cover, not knowing about the KKK does not in anyway makes us less. And not to sound antagonistic but have you heard of the Ogori people in north central Nigeria? The Oworo?. I bet not, would I consider your education system faulty? No.
Africans are diverse and it's hard to know everyone's experiences .
      Regards

Good afternoon Feyi, I'm 29 years old and I lost my job due to the covid 19 pandemic. I already did my ECA but haven't being able to do IELTS due to the lack of funds. I recently started an advanced diploma with ICM through the help of wonderful friends and family members, I needed to boost my CRS score to help my Express entry profile. I'm currently studying for my IELTS through different UA-cam channels and it's being interesting and I'm putting in all effort to get nothing less than band 9.
I would like to be one of the lucky winner's of the paid IELTS sponsorship.
Thank you for being so helpful and God bless you 😊🙏

Good but if l might advise you don't be extremely excited as if you're going to heaven. For your own good you must check all the odds, do serious research about your future village or town or city and the country as a whole and try to know as much as possible before you leave. The developed nations are extremely different from the developing countries especially those in Africa in almost everything including but not limited to human relations. In a nutshell the developing countries especially African nations are the best places to live. If African nations could have excellent or good medical facilities, job or good job opportunities, strong and democratic institutions, less corruption, justice and equality for all citizens before the laws (l'm not saying that there's absolute justice and equality for all citizens before the laws in the developed countries but they're hundred times better than the developing nations), the respect of laws, human rights......then they will be the best places to live. But the question is who will fix all these for the Africans? Nobody but the Africans. They must fix them by themselves. If the only dream of all African youths and the citizens in general is to emmigrate to another people's countries and if the Africans themselves are not hungry of fixing their institutions, countries.....allowing dictators, families, governants to rule them for decades or even one term's in office but without any visible changes in the countries and in the lives of the people resulting to massive exodus of the Africans then others will go and occupy Africa. The Chinese are already displacing the Africans from their motherlands. In one or two centuries Africa will become a Chinese continent. SO THE AFRICANS SHOULD WATCH OUT. It's a hidden agenda of the Chinese authorities. Their plan is sending millions of Chinese including prisoners to Africa to multiply and supplant the Africans in order to guarantee China's access to the African raw materials for the Chinese industries thereby allowing China to become a leading world power in terms of economy and politics. God forbids a world led by communists, anti democratic, anti human rights, anti liberty.......country. However, it will never happen because it's against God's ideal for humans and the world. Communism is anti human.

I think it's not that they expect you to know. The key is to ask. Ask ask ask people are willing to show you and direct you. No one will tell you anything if you dont ask.No one can identify if your new here.

    • @FeyiMac
      @FeyiMac  3 роки тому +2

      Yes, asking is good.
However, there are certain things you shouldn't have to ask about. For example, workplace pensions, benefits, deduction etc. It should be part of the Onboarding process, especially when the employers know that you're a newcomer. You end up researching it on your own, which isn't bad but it should be part of onboarding as well.
There's a lot about the system that one wouldn't know to ask about until they come up.
