    Had a neighbour who tried this in town, bylaw officer forced them to remove the metal cladding. A temporary shelter is permitted nearly to the street but adding metal makes it a "permanent" structure and therefore must be set back from the road (e.g., 40 ft) like any garage. If you are living in a town, check the bylaws first.

    • @HamiltonServices530
      @HamiltonServices530  2 роки тому +5

      That is good information. Thank you. I checked our county building code and found the following: In our county you can build a structure that is 100 square feet or less without any permit from the county as long as no one lives in the structure or has electrical wiring inside. The minimum setback is 30 feet from the center of the roadway to the front of the structure and 5 feet on the remaining sides.

    Just saw your video, and thanks for some good ideas. Im a retired sheet metal worker from a roofing and fab shop, and I definitely miss being able to make things like what you did there.
    Have you considered using a button punch to go down your standing seems to keep them together? Did you lap your joints so they shed water on both sides?
    I've got two of the 20' long sheds, and I'd rather in roof sheets than another plastic cover. Those steel studs are definitely a good suggestion, I'm going to frame in both ends with them and do away with all of the plastic.

    • @HamiltonServices530
      @HamiltonServices530  16 днів тому +1

      A button punch is a good idea. I just crimped the seam with my hand seamers and gorilla strength. I did overlap the seams downward on each side so the top panel had female standing seams on both sides. I am waiting for the tarps on the side to fail and I will probably close in the ends as well. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Good luck with your project.

      @@monkeyoperator1360 My UTV garage in a box shelter came with the standard cover. It only has a one year warranty which most shelters have unless you order custom shelters directly from the shelter logic website. There are options for a 14oz. cover which has a 10 year prorated warranty or a 21.5oz. cover which has a 15 year prorated warranty. When I chose the same dimensions as my shelter using the 21.5oz. cover, the price jumped from $429 to $1099. • @HamiltonServices530
      @HamiltonServices530  2 місяці тому

      @@Kyle-ev4fk The metal studs are pretty easy to fit in between the supports. I have another video out there on how I cut the metal studs. The easiest way to cover the frame with metal is to use the wavy corrugated metal or poly panels. Everything will overlap easily with minimal cutting and no folding of the metal whatsoever. Thanks for the subscription!

      @HamiltonServices530  2 місяці тому

      @@Kyle-ev4fk I had to fabricate the metal I used on my shelter logic in the sheet metal shop I work for. I suppose any prefab metal roof would work as well if you wanted the standing seams. However, I just finished the metal roof on our house build project. The prefab panels can be kind of expensive if you are looking for something budget friendly.
