I like these Jill round trip reviews. One thing I noticed right away is the headrest is almost in a dangerous position for you. For the vertically challenged, they need one of those headrests with a pad that can drop down more so you don't break your neck if you get rear-ended.
Yesterday, filled up my Explorer ST(400 HP) at the NY/PA border and drove past Cleveland OH 440 miles, no fuel stops, in 6.5 hours. 24.1 MPG.
Sure, but I'd rather 4 miles per gallon than to drive a Ford..
What speed? If it's anything over 70 that's actually pretty good... I have a 24 Pilot and I usually average 24 - 26 mpg at 75 close to 300 HP
@@gabepena2689 I usually set the cruise to 77. My 2020 Explorer XLT(2.3 4 cyl turbo, plus every option) did better. I averaged 25 mpg overall.
I regularly get 20 mpg hwy in my 2024 4Runner Limited AWD with a 15 year old engine/transmission combo.
I learned to love my car. I guess it takes time to get use to it. No complaints.
I have an Overtrail.

Great and honest review Jill!
That windshield was covered with bugs - That should be a thumbs down for visibility and it makes for a not so fun road trip.
I was surprised by the mpg.i was thinking it would be a little better. for comparison, we just did a 2k mile road trip in our Land Cruiser (mix of flat and mountains) and we averaged just above 18 mpg
Cup holders matter. Overall my 3rd gen tundras cup holder suck. They are either too small on the doors or don’t hold cups tightly in the centre console. However the sliding tray in the centre is a big win because I can fit my one litre water bottles in there and life’s good. But Toyota does need to improve their cup holders across the board.
Do you ever get pulled over and asked if you’re old enough to drive?😂 Most vehicles don’t live up to their EPA rating. That’s a big heavy vehicle and 18.5 seems acceptable. I doubt you would get significantly better fuel economy in any other full size SUV with the exception of the Dura Max diesel in the Suburban. The hybrid system is for additional torque more than fuel economy. I have never had a vehicle where a tall bottle will fit in the door card cup holder. In my current Tacoma that camelback cycling water bottle (the short one) will fit.
lol. Thankfully I do not. 😂
This or the Defender? I prefer Lexus but can’t seem to find any and all the dealers are scamming with mark ups that have any in stock.
@@czwhat328 this
great info, but did you set the driving mode to economy? Maybe in economy you will get better fuel numbers.
Wow, pretty pitiful mpg. And it needs a phone shelf.
Awe! Edith Ann!
All the gx reviews do not live up to the advertised MPG. Wonder if it's due to the vehicle not being broken in yet. I am in the market for this suv and the mpg is really not impressive. Anyone have different real life MPG numbers?
Yeah, I am not a fan of any of the autonomous driving options from any of the manufacturers, and even more so considering they are all subscription based.
Nice real world review
PHEV is required for a mall crawler, which 95% of the GX owners will be. Common Sense. BTW, I test drove the GX and loved the way it drives. Exceptional.
That’s a beautiful suv but they are not economy cars ,18.5 miles per gal is a lot ,just like a pickup truck wow !
Why switch from simple v8 to more complex turbo v6 and get same fuel economy??? R u serious... Not buying this garbage 🗑️
Government regulations, I’m not sure why so many people are unaware of the Government regulations that are determining what you can and cannot buy these days, it’s no long car companies giving consumers what they want, it’s about international politicians fighting “climate change” that determines what you can buy.
Nice on the outside but a Toyota on the inside, shame on you lexus
Lexus new GX sucks on all levels. Total 💩.
I compared it to the GX460 v8 Luxury with the Off Road Package, Lexus made major mistakes replacing the GX460 with the GX550. Don’t waste your money. Get a used Lexus GX460 or a GMC Denali Yukon with the I6 diesel.
I’ve owned two GM I6 diesels (LM2 and LZ0). Do yourself a favor….run.
Low value review. The size of your water bottle is entirely random and subjective. You also have the seat all the way forward, blocking access to the door panel. No accounting of these situational factors
Jill isn’t very tall has to have seat forward
@@czwhat328 that’s my point. The assessment is entirely conditional to driver height, bottle size…
No references to experience in other vehicles, as a reference point, nor caveats of driver height.
It’s as useful as making assessment of rear leg room without any mention of reviewer’s height.
Intellectual dishonesty or just sloppiness
Um. Reviews, by definition, or subjective. But thanks for commenting and boosting the video.
@@jillciminillo nah the best reviews are objective primarily, with a sprinkle of subjectiveness for flavoring. Ultimately, no one cares how the vehicle works for you personally. Audience is trying to project your review to themselves. This one provides zero helpful references for that projection.
The cup holder comment is very relevant, the bottle she has isn't even that large and wouldn't fit in the door panel. A much larger bottle will fit in the door of my GX460 or my daily driver sedan - so in that way it isn't great. Its pretty easy to extrapolate what is being shown to your own situation so it is in fact useful.
